Title: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on September 22, 2012, 10:44:38 am
Friday Oct 26th
through
Wednesday Oct 31st!

We will be running a new Halloween Event this year in addition to the usual one that always runs each year.

I haven't decided which zone(s) yet, but I already got how the boss will spawn, the type of boss, and the loot done.

Spawning the boss will be a 'group event' and then killing it will be a server wide event. Will probably disable instances in the zone that the boss spawns to force everyone to play together.

Loot will appear on everyones cursor that is in the zone attacking the boss, sort of like everyone getting credit for a boss kill in Abyss. High end guilds won't be able to take all the loot or lock down the boss in this style since the reward is automatically put on your cursor.

Some loot that you get will depend on which flags you currently have. So there will be loot for everyone, even if your a low level. Just join the event and get rewards. There will be new uber items to obtain this year from the Halloween Event Only! Including some new graphic items (Need Underfoot to see it).

Expecting this Halloween to be even more fun and even better rewards than before.

I'm officially on vacation but also traveling right now. Visiting some friends and have a laptop to continue stuff. So this Halloween Event will be my focus for the next 30 days.

Video Contest (This Thread!)

Players are encouraged to make and post videos about the event and will receive EZ Credits for rewards!

Any player can make as many videos as they want, but will only get 1 reward per person.

Videos must be posted on this topic here by Saturday Nov 3rd.

EZ Server Halloween Event 2012 is going to be awsome!

Just a thought about everyone being in the same zone,  I fear the lag will be so bad as to make the game unplayable.

i kind of fear that also wolf...250-300+ in one zone

Well, hopefully it can be spawned more than once. Since the loot appears on your cursor, being dead when the encounter is over would suck!

Would shutting down all non custom zones for the event help or is it a bandwidth thing?

no it won't

Plus a lot of the Halloween zones are non custom bro..

it's going to be laggy every level 1 goon will try to be in the zone gimping an item  :-\

Maybe a load test on a zone to see if it won't crash is in order.

What will happen if tanking this mob and die right as Mob is killed...will that nullify you getting something on cursor since now in different zone.

Make it to where engaging the mob flags you and it's death creates a second flag and allow it to autoupdate. This way if you die while fighting, when you rez back, the second flag completes.

Just wondering if it would be possible to make the different zones for the event tiered. Like putting flags to get into certain zones so its not over crowded if your gonna disable instances. It's a long shot but im just really wondering how its gonna work having 200+ people in a zone cause no ones gonna wanta miss out on free loot if they just have to be in the zone.

He said was going to disable instances in the zone(s) "The World Boss" spawns in..

It's going to be retarded laggy yes...

Laggy is gona suck, but if the zone just chain crashes, then we move from suck to Blows.

Some of you guys were around for the original spider/draknid/stat food guy and i read where the zone was flooded with people who first tried him, did any of you see zone crashes at that point or just lagtastic play?

Hopefully its not that bad, mind you thats exactly what i ended up doing this past double loot we had. Had toons already done and mob killed and others were still fighting a full minute later on the same thing.... /q

Right above 80 ppl the zone gets quirky... We manned out a few 72 man Raids for fun to see the lag.. / meh and that was without gimps dying left and right...either way we will see

We made Plane of Sky(T3/4) unusable with just 24 toons, we had to send some people away and call them back in when loot they needed dropped.

18 or less we stabilized the zone.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: wolfegunr on September 24, 2012, 12:41:23 pm
I like the tiered idea with lowbies having big pub zone and high end having instances. The bigger guilds will have 100 toons just by themselves, i know mine will.  Maybe make each tier or set of tiers say 1-2, 3-4, 5, 6 have diff zone and boss/ loot table with 5 and 6 having instances. High end guilds have fought hard to get where they are and should have a guild instance to party in, or they can chose to mingle with the other tiers. Its a week long so will have plenty of time to party with everyone and lesser guilds can unite to take on higher tiers. I really think this is the best way to serve everyone.

Great Idea but i dont like the non instance idea . IMO this will create so much lag that will crash zone over and over

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Takishi on September 25, 2012, 12:05:10 pm
I can see the want for high end guilds to have their own instance. But if the point was to play nice together, which I gather from hunter was the point this year, it defeats the purpose. Course, I'm still finishing UC's and T4 so I'm still a lowbie by comparison.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Blurring on September 25, 2012, 05:23:57 pm
I can see the want for high end guilds to have their own instance. But if the point was to play nice together, which I gather from hunter was the point this year, it defeats the purpose.

More than ~50 moving players in a zone defeats the purpose almost guaranteed. Throw in deaths/rezzing/crashes and the fact that the zone will end up with hundreds of players (many without proper filters setup) is sure-fire disaster.

I think a very expensive guild instance option would do the trick. (Millions per) I'd certainly prefer almost any option involving instances than not, even if the encounter was made to be extra difficult in instances. Without serious improvements to how the server handles large populations in single zones, I can't imagine anyone being able to experience the encounter as intended without instances.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Nexxel on September 25, 2012, 06:08:29 pm
I understand Hunters desire to get us all to play together, Hell, i like the idea. I also understand others views that were just gona have a bunch of leechers with no input whatsoever, hence the desires for instances. And then there is server/zone stability and the desires for instances for that.

My fear is with what we had during the last Doubleloot, instances or not, its not gona work  ??? I guess i'd vote (not that there is a option) for whatever is stable,playable and allows/encourages people to play Together instead of there own little private playgrounds.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Doublep on September 26, 2012, 09:17:44 am
Playing together is what a lot people are saying here but also that there is some big guilds that if was to get all together will have 80 to 100 char there self. So add couple these guilds plus general population can expect 250+ trying to be in the zone. I like the idea of if do have instances can have to pay so much or make little harder. You will still have 70 to 100 people in general public instance. I know i experiences bad lag out situations when have 50+ in most zones. Some the bigger players in EZ have issues due to not the greatest computer or internet which makes large populated instance horrible for them. So all in the Bosses Hands but Instances of a certain kind will help out everyone have a better Halloween event.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: zymral on September 26, 2012, 09:37:45 am
Just my two cents but from the sound of it hunter is going to make the bosses extremly hard to kill. If that is the case then if you make intances then only the guilds will get halloween fun and tge rest will get a rez fest.... I dont know how to make this better but that seems to be how it would turn out. The main issue would be there is no incentive to leave the guild instance.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Fanon_Emarr on September 26, 2012, 10:25:18 am
I get what you guys are saying about guilds and instances, but the point of Halloween is that it's a server-wide event. This isn't progression we're talking about.

If Hunter can get the server to support the load, I think the open/tiered event idea is fantastic.

Either way if lag isn't bad I'll be there to help, but if the zone is questionable.. /meh going to find something else to do besides crash and LSC....

Not sure if this is too much work or not, but how about using three large zones, one for 70 - t2 for lowbies (zone boss at par with chronos with higher hp), and two t3+ zones for higher end. Mix in some random rare loot (tempered to flag), different mobs and badass bosses and you have yourself a party.

You can also flag restrict to zone. Anyone flagged for t3 cannot participate in 70-t2 event. Should help with the spread, and help eliminate piggy backing.

No i am not saying highend guilds come kill it for me. I am saying lets not have it so 2 guilds get to have an event and the rest of the server oh well. What i have seen from what hunter has said is the mobs are going to be so hard the server will have to work together to kill them. If that is the case and instances are put in then it will be a high guild only event. Would you like it if only  t-2 geared and below can participate? I didnt think any one in a high end guild would like it even though most of the toons on the server are t2 or below.

T2 and below? Negative I would say a good 60% of the server population is between 3.5 and 5.0 with gear ranging from T3 to T5. The next highest % would likely be between T5 and T6, ranging between 4.5 and 6.0.

Actually, it will be a zergfest.  Charge the mob, do some damage, die, rez, or zone back in.   Wash-Rinse-Repeat until the mob is dead.  Pretty much what we saw last year with Stone Monster.

If you want to make it interesting ...

Don't allow anyone to zone in or rez while the mob's health is below 100%.

Just don't crash the zone and everyone gets reward. Should be good.

Might make it more than one zone, not sure yet.

You should be able to bind in the zone in case you do die. If you happen to be main tank that gets killed seconds before the mob dies, well then that sucks.

This event should be awsome. Not much I can do about crashing, and I'm not making it instances. Maybe a level limit though for starters. If you remember, the zone memory leak was fixed in the last year or so. If too many people are online or in the zone, then just come back when population is sleeping.

hahaha ya.. when we used paladins to tank thats what happened...

MCed paladins go around killing people... warriors go around hitting people like a wet noodle

Using 2 warriors was definitely the key to making SM much more manageable  back then.

Out of range cures was also helpful too  :P

I am pretty sure somewhere in my post I put in there that I saw the zerg fest as well. And to put your little attempt at gotcha into perspective the majority of the 'hearsay' was from your guild. That's not to even mention the ooc banter. I have had higher ups in your guild flat out say 'we zerg'd it, it was the only way we could beat it'.

So, I am not misinformed. Maybe you misremembered?

We had 3 kills with only 2 tank deaths. One kill with 15 people. Video is still on my laptop from the contest. I recorded about half of them. When randoms decided they could join us of course it got zergy, but we still got the kills and the loot.

You can remember it however you want. Your jealousy was oozing last year so you need to remember it favorably for yourself and slanderous for us.

We had that fight on lock down and farm mode much to your dismay.

Lmao, you mad? The only part I got irritated with is that the fight was put down with nothing but zerg. I felt like under the current mechanics of the game the only way the fight could be won was with zerg. No skill was used in that, just zerg. I watched the videos, not just yours but all that were submitted. I saw no organized attempts nor did I see any 15 toon team take him down.

I have no beef with Forbidden Prophesy for taking down Stone Monster, but a zerg is a zerg and a zerg is not skill.

Things we learned from Halloween 2011.

  • Hunter makes awesome fun Halloween events every year.
  • Xiggie must downplay others accomplishments when he is jealous
  • Paldail has abnormally large genitalia
  • Fugitive will go into a ignorant expletive laced rampage for no reason and is easily provoked into further senseless rage. He will tell your mommy on you as well.
  • I make the best contest videos

Not that i care for the flamefest but maybe i can end this conversation. Yes it was a zerg fest the first few times, mostly in public zones cause when you got 3 other guilds trying to kill it and end up training us ppl die. Anyways i was part of FP during the last event and we did kill him with 15 i remember it clearly. As for the other flames about this post that have nothing to do with this post like

I have no beef with Forbidden Prophesy for taking down Stone Monster, but a zerg is a zerg and a zerg is not skill.
I do believe i got a few /tells from Rage saying there glad FP is a lost guild now so dont say you have no beef its there boss.
Back to the reason this post was made. I would +1 for a level cap to enter the zone it should cut down on lag from newbs.
So to end my post, please just let this little childish Tiff over nothing die with the guild you don't have beef with xiggie, be the bigger man sir :)

My reasons for being glad FP was dead is because there were several members in there that were responsible for releasing macs that people were using to farm 50m plat a day. That has absolutely nothing to do with something that occurred nearly a year ago.

My mom never told me that. My mom told me to minimalize others achievements whenever they are brought up in order to try to feel superior. Doesn't work too well when I don't have the full story and i'm full of jealousy.

So tell me. If you are not butt hurt why are you here? The last time you posted was in June and that was only once. The time before that was in February. Now all of a sudden you are back and you have posted 13 message within the last 24 hours? What, you expect everyone to believe you are here defending your honor or some kind of crap?

Truth is you were never much of anything on this server but a loudmouth. You rode the coat tails of a well established guild to what was end game back then and professed yourself as an elite. You spent your last month here just generally being a dick.

You quit, have some conviction and stay that way.

Told you we shouldn't of shared our macros with half the people we shared them with.

I was actually at last years event and in rage before I got sick of the bullshit and we didnt get a single SM kill but xiggie was dealing with a piece of shit computer and was having issues boxing more then 2 wet noddles and it sucked bad.
Pretty sure this year will be another story and they'll get a few good kills in.

None of the macs I have ever shared nor ever created have ever been used to farm 50m plat a day. I've written a few macs here and there but as a rule I never get greedy with the shit. I am pretty sure nothing I have ever written could even be morphed into anything like that. Not suggesting that is what you were saying Bal, but wanted to make sure everyone else understands that too.

I think I was able to load up 6 toons max back then and even then it was tough after about 4 toons. Specially with loads of people in. The other day I loaded up 19 toons and was at 7.2 gigs of ram used max out of 8 and my processor was probably at 20 to 30%. Even zoning everyone at once to the nexus didn't lock me down. On thurday I am doubling my ram to 16 so it will be even more smooth.

It would be good to see you back Severs. Forbidden Prophesy has been around for a long time and has been a strong part of EZ history. It has been sad to watch it turn into what it has turned into without the good leadership you brought to it.

It will be good to see Xiggie get the Stone Monster pet he so desperately craves. It's clear he was disappointed last year. You box 19 toons and you are getting all high and mighty about zerging? Get real. You box more toons than we had during many SM kills. I guess you have to box an army when you have no social skills.

No dude, your pathetic. You're posting on a forum of a server you no longer play on. You billed yourself as an elitist but all you did was get yourself into a guild that was already end game and catch a free ride up. Hell even people you think are friends have sent me messages complaining about what an idiot you are. You should quit. You really should. I think you're cute. You're trying so hard, yet you know nothing about me. You have zero ammo.

Your minimizing of others accomplishments is what got you here. I'm just letting everyone know about your oozing jealousy for the last year. It's seeping from your pores just like last nights double cheeseburger.

What 75m-100million pp went to the economy last year from SM? And you couldn't get your stubby little redneck fingers on any of it. I guess i'd be jelly too. You keep clinging to this elitist argument like anyone gives a flying fuck about being "elite" on "EZ". Most of us play to have fun at our leisure, you're the only one who parades around like this is some sort of social club that requires some sort of hardcore gaming skills which you think you have.

You have some sort of superiority complex in video games as well. When the topic of SM gets brought up, you immediately run and hide behind the zerg argument. Then you get all worked up and have to downplay the time I spend playing a video game because you get called out on being a misinformed douchebag. Then here comes the "Oh even your friends thought you were an idiot". Great story, my care meter almost moved.

I didn't call anyone a troll. Well maybe i'm a troll. I had a blast the last 2 Halloween events, even with a certain guild jumping on the jealous train immediately after, as well 1 year later. I guess my purpose is to have fun, not that I have ever had to explain myself or my intentions to you.

EDIT: You know we should probably stop clogging up the Halloween thread. If you would like a play by play on why Xiggie is an misinformed douchebag relying on hearsay from page 4 of this thread, we can start a new rants and flames post.

I'm so excited with this years Halloween Event. Besides bigger badder bosses, there we be a big variety of uber loots to acquire that can only be gotten during the Halloween Event. Some of it is possibly 'over powered' but getting the OP stuff might require you to have tier flags and have recast timer. There will be boss loot for everyone that participates and that is level 70, but some loot will be better depending which flags you have so far (T1-T6). Some items will have graphics that EZ Server hasn't used before, which may require Underfoot to see the item/icon.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)

Just don't crash the zone and everyone gets reward. Should be good.

Might make it more than one zone, not sure yet.

You should be able to bind in the zone in case you do die. If you happen to be main tank that gets killed seconds before the mob dies, well then that sucks.

This event should be awsome. Not much I can do about crashing, and I'm not making it instances. Maybe a level limit though for starters. If you remember, the zone memory leak was fixed in the last year or so. If too many people are online or in the zone, then just come back when population is sleeping.

Black Unicorn now spawns a Reward NPC that you can hail for your reward token.

The reward NPC will depop after 5 minutes.

Only 1 reward per event.

Of course if your in the group/raid that does the most DPS then you'll get a token from the Task Window, so you could currently get 2 rewards if your group does the most damage.

If you disc or go LD then just log back in within 5 minutes before the npc depop and hail for your reward.

Enjoy!

So far...
   I killed an SM I could not loot, because an unkillable (by two groups of T6 anyways) goblin spawned after him. Corpse rotted. Could goblin be a seperate spawn?
Apparently there's something I did wrong, will try dispelling next time or something if I get the chance...

Killed Unicorn with the server. The zone crashed... dunno whats going on yet as I have to reboot and relog.

the lag is too much, I can't fight with over 100 people and not crash...and loot is gone by the time you pop back in

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 26, 2012, 04:05:25 am
Reward NPC is suppose to depop after 5 minutes.

Just find a time when 100+ people are not trying to kill the boss, the even will run for about 5-6 days.

Yeah, each Halloween Boss has a chance of spawning a higher tier boss. Stone Monster would be the 4th tier boss and then Insane Goblin would be 5th tier boss. Each one is more and more rare.

Is there limitations to some of the Halloween zones as far as which bosses can spawn in the different zones?

Trash has a chance to spawn a T1 Halloween Boss.

A T1 Halloween boss has a chance to spawn a T2 Halloween Boss.

...

and all the way up to a T5 Halloween Boss.

So the higher up you go in bosses, the more rare they become, but the loot becomes a lot better too.

This feels a lot like last year, before the spawn rate was fixed. Takes forever to see a named and then it is just 1-2 pops.

The unicorn event costs way too much for anyone to pay 1k candies. If you do pay the candies, you need so many people to kill it that you wont get any credit due to un precedented lag if you kill it at all (and the reward npc did not last anywhere near 5 minutes) assuming you can even target the second unicorn that pops. It's a server-wide event after all... with the catch that the zone and your computer cant handle the event.

This could be a blast, but instead has just been an exercise in frustration thus far.

Even if it were to  be 5 minutes it wouldn't help tbh. You have to account for the time it takes to relaunch the client then the fun part is logging your character back in after the LD where he will then most likely go LD again and cause even more frustration, so far - its just frustration and more frustration.

I have been looking forward to this for months. Last year was the best time I have ever had playing this game, Live or Emu. It was a blast because there where mobs to kill, so far i have about 400t1 kills, 10 t2 kills and 2 CT kills, and one  of those I got after turning in 150 candy. Love the event, but I'm so board of seeing a t1 pop with much anticipation, just for it to fall over dead.

Currently if you go link dead, you can still get a reward if you can get back in with in 5 minutes cause you just hail the reward npc for your reward even if you did not actually attack the horse.

I might consider on Oct 31st to allow instances and lesser candies required, but would need to change the code a bit so the candy count in public doesn't interfere candy count in instances. For now I want to try everyone working together, although too many people is having bad effect lol.

Problem with that is you actually can't get back in within the 5 min time frame -- usually the zone is so lagged out that trying to log back in you just go LD, same with the overcrowding in nexus. Was a good idea , but with the lag problems and to many people , it didn't succeed as planned.

Exactly now, no one wants to deal with the hassle that it is. Most rather spend candies in other places now instead of working as a server and putting it towards something they may or may not get a reward for

Is there any way to get the charasis issues fixed so the zone is usable? It requires the key quest and none of the doors work. I can get you the loc of all non-working doors, if you want. It's possible to illusion bug through them but pretty annoying and not really feasible for actually doing the event.

Second SM I have killed by myself....Goblin pops. Rare? What? 2 for 2 now.

I was pwned with goblin as I was hurting from stonemonster already.

Several boxes crashed, and all were group bugged so I had to restart my computer. Fortunately I had an alt in the instance on another computer.

So I log in, get buffed and zone into fear. They just happen to be killing a Goblin there, the zone is super laggy with 50-60 toons and of course they are right by zone in. It took a full 5 minutes to zone in and 3 boxes went ld just trying to zone in. It's super laggy as I try to zone into my instance. I get 3 toons in finally so no way I can even attempt goblin fight in time to get to SM corpse, there is only 6 minutes left on corpse timer at this point. So I get a pali over to Goblin and pop DA and run him off... I take second pali over to loot SM corpse. It wont let me in the corpse... I get right on it and hit /loot, nothing. I hide corpses and show ... this works often in these situations and It wont let me hide them, its still right there in front of me. I try to loot for 2 minutes and by then goblin comes back and kills me.

So, 2 kills on StoneMonster, Goblin which I dont even care about pops each time (not more and more rare) and I wasn't able to loot the second StoneMonster corpse.

I have spent many hours in this event just to get StoneMonster, and I have nothing to show for it. I'm so frustrated and pissed off I'm just going to walk away.

Sad when I took time off of work for this only to experience one of the most frustrating times of my life in a game bar none. I love this server, I've spent hundreds of hours on my toons and many days preparing for this event for things to go this way.

There are easy ways that this situation could be fixed. First...put a longer timer on the named corpses, specifically StoneMonster and Goblin.
Second, have Stonemonster drop an item which will trigger Goblin from the candy turn in so we can fight him when we have looted and rezzed and buffed. Or, have him spawn somewhere in the zone NOT ON THE CORPSE.

I appreciate all the effort into making this event, I applaud the spirit behind it. It's certainly no easy task to entertain so many people in your spare time. But when making such events it is crucial to take into account the nature of how things work here. We box (it is necessary here), boxers lag like hell when next to each other and any zone is pretty much ridiculously lagged when more than 30 people are in it.  You set up the encounters for the average player groups instead of tailoring it so that only the top top few players (ie: Blarr) can kill them.
     Content such as Goblin needs to be 2-groupable by T6 players to work.  Content like the unicorn need to be 4-5 T6 groupable to work, make it instant only so the reward npc can be up for an hour after killing so we actually get rewarded, or have loot on the corpse which would work better as randomly assigning a dagger, for instance, to a cleric or shammy just doesn't make a bit of sense.

In order for this server to work, feedback must be a crucial part of the creative process, or it will fall flat on its face. We are the ones that play this day after day and want it to keep growing.

Thanks for your time.

Asked server if they have seen SM die without Goblin pop, seems overall about 2/3 do have goblin pop. This would be nice if it were elsewhere in the zone or triggered by turnin. Otherwise, what this does is nicely block the corpse of SM and lag the zone.

Would it be possible/easy to remove the loot tables from some of the trash mobs temporarily? I think a large part of the zone times / lag would be reduced if clients/server didn't have to resync and load 1000+ corpses on every zone.

If there's any way I could help please let me know, not sure what the process is like. I could prepare npc names and such though.

Method 1 -- Seems tedious ...

PoDisease
Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'podisease';

CoDecay
Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'codecay';

PoNightmare
Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'ponightmare';

Kaesora
Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'kaesora';

These will set ALL mobs in those zones to have no loot table... so IF the Halloween bosses are set as Static spawns in those zones!!! They will get erased!!!!!

I am guessing they aren't set to ANY zone?? The Halloween bosses that is. So this shouldn't change their loot tables.

The other zones you can just replace the  spawn2.zone = 'XXXXX'  ... but a few of those zones have FG / CG loot items.. so removing the loot table from all the mobs would probably be a bad idea unless you write down the mobs loot table really fast.... then use the script and manually add the FG / CG loottable back to the specific mob.

Halloween Event Zones
befallen -- FG / CG
charasis -- Shield quest here??
citymist -- FG / CG
codecay
fearplane (Trick or Treat Quest) -- Custom loot zone
hateplane
kaesora
kurn
podisease
poeartha (New Halloween Event) -- Unsure?!
ponightmare
unrest (Trick or Treat Quest) -- FG / CG
veksar

Unrest ---  ((( Check NPC id for Garanel Rucksif )))) should be 63062 !!!  -- it will remove loot and SKIP him ((Dwarven workboots for FG quest!))

Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'unrest' AND npc_types.id NOT IN (63062);

Fearplane --- takes a few minutes to save the loot table before you nuke it all down to 0 ! -- But should help A LOT

Fearplane has the most lag of any zone due to the amount of mobs.. but the zone has low end custom gear.. so removing things would be a hassle unless you could somehow save the Loottables before doing that zone? I am unsure on how to do that.

Possible way to save zones loottable for Fearplane... since I am a noob

Code:
SELECT npc_types.id, npc_types.name, npc_types.loottable_id FROM npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID WHERE spawn2.zone = 'fearplane';

While using HeidiSQL -- I selected the entire grid this SQL just created.. and Exported the entire Grid as a SQL REPLACE with Column names in first row.. so now I have a text file with a a ton of Replaces to put the loottables back together...

and looks like this....

EXAMPLE of what the text file contains..  (Has my entire fearplane in it) This is jut one mob
Code:
REPLACE INTO `npc_types` (`id`, `name`, `loottable_id`) VALUES (72001, 'Wraith_of_a_Shissar', 1);

Now that the fearplane is saved into a text file of REPLACE SQLs .. you can use

Fearplane
Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone = 'fearplane';

Method 2 --- seems Faster?

Sidenote.....

Could backup all those zones loottables real fast .. then nuke them all to 0 just for the event.. and replace them afterwards . Just a thought!

IF you choose this Method... here you go!!

Create Grid of all NPCs in those zones... (( Export these as a SQL Replace with column names!! ))

Code:
SELECT npc_types.id, npc_types.name, npc_types.loottable_id FROM npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID WHERE spawn2.zone IN ('fearplane','unrest','befallen','charasis','codecay','kaesora','kurn','podisease','poeartha','ponightmare','veksar','citymist','hateplane');

Make sure none of the event mobs are NOT linked to those zones.. (( Still assuming you just use quest code to spawn them and not part of the spawn2 for these zones ))

Nuke ALL those zones

Code:
UPDATE npc_types INNER JOIN spawnentry ON npc_types.id = spawnentry.npcID INNER JOIN spawn2 ON spawnentry.spawngroupID = spawn2.spawngroupID SET npc_types.loottable_id = 0 WHERE spawn2.zone IN ('fearplane','unrest','befallen','charasis','codecay','kaesora','kurn','podisease','poeartha','ponightmare','veksar','citymist','hateplane');

Thanks!!  Event is fun so far.. just want to help with some of the lag!

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 27, 2012, 09:45:18 am
I'll see what I can tweak for Mon-Wed..

I could easily just back up the npc_types table, then set all loottables to 0, and revert to my saved table after the event. Of course I'd have to make sure the halloween bosses don't lose their loot, probably manually put them back in.

I might lower the candy requirements and allow instances in poeartha zone for the Black Unicorn too. Need to re-write the code so that the instances don't interfere with the count, otherwise they'll share the same count.

I think trash have 1/75 chance to spawn a T1 boss, then its 1/10 chance to spawn a T2 Boss, then a 1/4 chance to spawn a T3 (Cazic Thule) boss, etc up to finally a T5 boss, so yes they get more rare, harder to kill, and better loot. The T3-T5 are going to be rare bosses.

Just keep you all updated, that I'm watching and listening. Hopefully we're having fun so far.

Hunter

I am pretty much with the others on spawning the Insane Goblin somewhere else in the zone or putting a turn-in item to spawn him as well as getting rid of the loot on all other  non-event mobs. Lag wasn't terrible (unplayable)  for me but I did notice it. I have killed about 35-T1 bosses, 8-T2 bosses, 15 Cazic Thules, 4 Stone Monsters (with Freth's help) and got my ass handed to me over and over by 1 Insane Goblin standing over the SM corpse. I got 11 of my CT spawns turning in candy and loved the loot drops since I still have alot of toons that could use them. I know it can be frustrating not to get to loot a corpse because something (INSANE) is standing over it.

I am sure you are working on a fix with all the suggestions.. but here is another one. Making the Gob either not run back so dang fast....maybe slowly walk back to the original spawn point or not have him come back at all... just stay where the person trained him or died. I do think it is probably easier with coding to just have him spawn somewhere else in the zone like you have T5 bosses spawn in Abyss - but that is just my suggestions.

I am having fun with the event. First event and I am loving it. I would like to kill the Black Unicorn but will see how the lag issues work themselves out.

As always, thanks

Mixlor

***After thinking about it a little more... I think having him spawn somewhere else in the zone might be a tad bit too much too. Most people will not even mess with him so he will be left up. Eventually.. they will spawn him again.. so now there will be 2 up in the zone somewhere... and so on. Eventually you wont be able to kill mobs to get all the T1-SM to spawn because you have 2-??? Gobs in the zone. Now for us with summon way-points... we can just remake instances.. but for people using public zones that have no summon way-points...that will hurt someone just trying to get a 1.5 - 3.0 epic book off a mob.

I think I am in favor of just an item (make it a rare chance) you can loot off SM to turn in and spawn the Gob. I would rather have a stack of Goblin tokens (like MCP tokens) in my inventory than 15+ Goblins spawned up in public zones so I cant even get in to access my own private instances without getting trained or just flat out killed while zoning in.

I have a feeling that even SM might come to this and even CT since SM can be a pain for those that barely make it thru CT and then have the SM spawn on top of CT so they cant get the CT loot. Gotta draw the line somewhere but it seems to be the Insane Goblin that everyone (even the top geared folks) is talking about. You could make it where T1 bosses can drop a T2 boss token and so on. Take this into consideration so changes can be made all at one time without too many server downtimes.

Just my 2 cents.

Mixlor

Could just make the goblin indifferent when he pops. That would solve the problem of him camping stone monster corpses.

I mean, if it's normal nature for a goblin to attack you, wouldn't an insane goblin just stand there?

If you are afraid it will delete the loot from the halloween bosses... put this at the end

Code:
 AND npc_types.id NOT IN (X, Y, Z);

X Y Z being... all the NPC IDs for   ... Spectre, Skeleton, Werewolf, Scarecrow, Zombie, Innoruuk, Rallos Zek, Tribunal, Cazic Thule, Stone Monster, Insane Goblin

Hope any of this helps  ;D

So Goblin is blocking people from looting CT? Yeah its a challenge. Goblin loot is better than CT loot anyways.

I could try to see if a timer would work, to make the goblin spawn 1 minute after CT dies?

If we're getting to the point of multiple goblins in zone, I could make them depop after 1 hour?

I'll see what ideas I can work with today to make Monday-Wednesday a bit easier.

Zone crashed for us 3 times after downing SM and goblin spawnign and wipeing us... ist here anyway to maybe make goblin and/or SM non agro when spawned that way we have time to loot i lost out on SM the first time and we lost out on everything the other 2 times

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 28, 2012, 05:15:18 am
I made the Black Unicorn now require 250 candies instead of 1000 candies.

The Halloween T2 Bosses now have 1/4 chance instead of 1/10 chance.

I think T3-T5 are each 1/4 chance.

So a Stone Monster has a 1/4 chance to spawn off killing Cazic Thule. If you get it, consider yourself lucky to win the 1/4 chance, or unlucky if you miss looting Cazic Thule. Either way, there is chance for good and bad. Its Halloween Event. Even the Trick or Treat NPC can give you a trick once in a while, and they are in 2 different zones.

Hope the 2 updates help though.

Enjoy!

Hunter

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)

T1 = 1/75 Trash (1 in 75 chance)
T2 = 1/300 Trash (75 x 4)
T3 = 1/1200 Trash (300 x 4)
T4 = 1/4800 Trash (1200 x 4)
T5 = 1/19200 Trash (4800 x4)

Hope makes sense.

Better bosses with better loot are suppose to be more rare and harder to get.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 28, 2012, 05:27:44 am
Yes, you'll get an Insane Goblin 2.5x faster now. Hope makes sense, when changed 1/10 chance into a 1/4 chance, and then rest of the chain is the same.

Also, I just changed the Black Unicorn Reward NPC to depop after 15 minutes. However, when you get your reward token from the Black Unicorn Reward NPC you'll be 'flagged' to not allow any more rewards for 20 minutes from that NPC. Should the times should work out ok, and give more time for people to log in and hail the NPC.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 28, 2012, 05:32:55 am
The rewards from the Black Unicorn are worth getting, and may even be over powered. Of course you might get 'tricked' and get some loot that you rather not have like bags of plat or other food/candies. So its a chance to get good or not so good items, although most of the time should get something really good.

In addition to the npc you hail for reward token, the Task Quest is still in effect, so the group or raid doing most damage automatically get a reward token. They can turn that in, then go hail the NPC for another token to turn in again for 2 rewards to the group that does the most damage!

Again, might allow instances Monday-Wednesday but I need to edit the candy count code first to count for instance so public and instances don't steal each others candy count to spawn the Unicorn.

Title: Re: Halloween Event (2012)
Post by: Hunter on October 28, 2012, 11:11:11 am
Made the Halloween Event a bit easier.

Only 150 candies required to turn in for boss. If zone crashes or server reboots, it goes back to zero. The count should work for each individual instance.

Instances will be now available in poeartha for guilds that want to try the boss with fewer people.

Goblin and Horse had their HP, Regen, and Damage all reduce. Should be a LOT easier now.

Stone Monster and Cazic Thule should be a little easier now too.

Hopefully this makes things easier.

If your still getting lag when 450+ people are online, then there is not much we can do about that until we get more bandwidth. Under that number we seem to do fine.

Enjoy!

I'm still only in T4, so CT still poses some issues for me.  Made me lose multiple corpses and even after getting CT down i've been unlucky/lucky enough to get SM to spawn to wipe me.

Had CT down to 15% when the server just rebooted too.  Luck of the draw i guess :)

This is my first Halloween event and having a blast so far!

Funny story.

I spawned my second CT (my first I got to around 40% and the zone crashed). I got him down to around 45% but my load times were taking longer than the CD on his DT so there was no way I going to beat him. I called for help and Enosis' gang took him down for me (thanks again!). Well I wasn't aware that the CT pet has a 10k HP buff, just thought it was another cool looking buff bot. So I looted it with my Cleric :) DOH!

I don't know if you have pet classes Mattnaik, but a good way to kill CT is to sick pets on him, let them take DT, then tank him for a bit, back off with a new pet on him and let it tank, etc.

First attempt at making a video. I'm not in T6 so I can't post the domination that Blarr, Nate,  Fugi, Brokyn and others could but it was still a blast!

Hope you enjoy!

Main Music track:

Not I this year .... with work and unable to stay connected during the Uni event even with 1 toon in...
4 Different Machines, 3 EQ Clients , and 2 ISPs....

also 6000+ Candy turned in and only 2 SM total and few CTs(which didn't need) ... frustration has set in...

Great video !!

Great video !!

I was wondering where you were for most of the event. After the updated spawn  chances  a few days into the event, it helped with SM and IG spawns considerably.

Thanks for the feedback on the video!

Yes, the chance update was on the T2 Bosses which changed to 1 in 4 instead of 1 in 10, which dramatically increased chances to find Cazic Thule, Stone Monster, and Insane Goblin.
