Title: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Uxt on May 14, 2010, 07:35:36 pm
Whether for Ring of Ages, nostalgia, or just being a completionist, here's your guide to skilling up those tradeskills you love to hate (sometimes)! I will not cover Tinkering, Alchemy (caps at 120, by the way), Poison, or cultural recipes! Why? Because I don't know them!

Ring of Ages requires GM tradeskill items at levels 59, 69, 79, 89, and 99, in order to advance. The order is Baking, Brewing, Tailoring, Smithing, and Jewelcrafting.

I will tell you which NPCs sell what ingredients useful for raising what tradeskill, most of which are located in or next to Plane of Knowledge. USE CTRL + F TO FIND THE NPC!

Please note: Neriak is only accessible through Non-Custom NPC, as Nektulos Forest is currently closed off to players. The zone name is "neriaka" on the zone name list.

Baking

1. Fish Rolls (135) - Very simple, combine bat wings and a fresh fish in any oven, both ingredients found in PoK. Darius Gandril sells the bat wings, and Ramos Jerwan sells fresh fish.

2. Patty Melt  (191) - Combine cheese, loaf of bread, wolf/lion/bear meat, and non-stick frying pan. Pergan Darkcloud sells cheese and bread in Jaggedpine, Klen Ironstove sells lion meat in PoK.

2a. Non-stick frying pan (91) - Metal bits (Szrix Hammertail, PoK), water flask, frying pan mold (Tallien Brightflash, Jaggedpine), ceramic lining. Combine in a forge.

2b. Ceramic Lining (16) - Ceramic lining sketch, small block of clay, water flask (Elisha Dirtyshoes sells all, PoK). Made on a pottery wheel.

3. Jord Meat Pies (282) - Jord Meat (Bemli Takoth, PoK), pie tin, clump of dough.

3a. Pie Tin (35) - Metal bits, ceramic lining, water flask, pie tin mold (Savet Ironstove, PoK). Combine in forge.

3b. Clump of Dough (17) - Cup of flour, bottle of milk, basilisk egg (Sal Drana, Neriak Foreign Quarter). (THIS MAKES 15)

4. Grandmaster Baker's Spoon (250) - Dairy Spoon (Merin Darkanvil, PoK), artisan seal. Combine in oven.

4a. Artisan Seal (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=4436&menustr=035000000000) - Linked for lazy editing. Gems are easily found all over, and money is practically given away, so it should be simple to make plenty!

Brewing

1. Fermented Yarrow (74) - Yarrow (Severg ODanos, PoK), water flask.

2. Minotaur Hero's Brew (248) - Cask, Malt x3, Short Beer x2, water flask x2, yeast (Bargol Halith sells all, PoK). Yes, a lot of clicking to buy and combine, but this is the easiest way.

3. Grandmaster's Brewing Corker (250) - Corking device, artisan seal. Combine in brew barrel, obviously.

4. Kaladim Constitutional (335) - Celestial Essence, strange dark fungus, underfoot mushroom, soda water (Bargol Halith, PoK), fermented yarrow, cork, bottle, corking device. (NOTE: fungus and mushroom spawn in North Kaladim, at a mushroom farm.)

***Corking device is sold by Graktak in Grobb. YES, CORKING DEVICES ARE VENDOR SOLD***

Blacksmithing

1. Banded Mail (135) - Sheet metal (Borik Darkanvil, PoK), mold (Kaleras Darkanvil, PoK), water flask.

2. Gothic Steel Armor (212) - Superb leather padding (Borik Darkanvil, PoK), medium quality folded sheet of metal (Tallis Paerk, PoK), smithy hammer, water flask, mold (Magnar Quok, PoK), granite temper.

2a. Granite Temper (124) - Gargoyle granite (Terren Starwatcher, Felwithe), water flask. Combine in brew barrel.

3. Enchanted Velium Bits (222) - Coldain velium temper, spell: enchant velium (Nimren Stonecutter, thurgadin), small piece of velium x2.

3a. Small Piece of Velium - Rather than farming this, buy blocks of velium from Gaelsori Heriseron in Bazaar, then combine in a forge with a smithing chisel. One block of velium can yield 8 small piece of velium. (Block -> 2 Large brick -> 4 small bricks -> 8 small pieces)

4. Grandmaster Smith's Hammer (250) - Smithy hammer, artisan seal. Combine in forge, obviously.

5. Pure Enchanted Velium (255) - Coldain smithy hammer, coldain velium temper (Nimren Stonecutter, thurgadin), enchanted velium bar, purified water (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=1191&menustr=035000000000)

5a. Enchanted Velium Bar - Enchanters cast a level 43 (single bar) or 44 (five bars) spell Enchant Velium.

Fletching

1. Make Arrows (202) - Silver tipped arrowheads, bundled steel arrow shafts, large groove nocks, set of ceramic arrow vanes.

2. Darkwood Bows (215) - Silk string, darkwood bow staff.

4. Shadewood Bows (255) - Silk string, shadewood bow staff.

Jewelcrafting

Since money is very easy to attain, I'm providing a skill-up path that's not cheap, but rather large gaps in between. This means that you only have to change ingredients a few times, rather than every few skill-ups.

1. Silver Opal Engagement Ring (50)

2. Topaz Electrum Earring (111)

3. Golden Jaded Bracelet (178)

4. Platinum Malachite Ring (218)

5. Platinum Pearl Ring (252)

(At this point, the price per combine is quite high, and failure rate is unusually common. The highest attainable skill level is 296)

1. Grandmaster Jeweler's Eyeglass (250) - Glass shard (Elisha Dirtyshoes, PoK), silver bar, artisan's seal.

Pottery

1. Unfired Sealed Poison Vial (188) - Sealed vial sketch, water flask, small block of clay, Crow's Special Brew [green bottle] (Crow, North Qeynos).

Tailoring

1. Crystalline Armor (131) - Borik Darkanvil (PoK) sells crystalline silks. Combine two to make a swatch, then combine 1-3 swatches, silver thread (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=2603&menustr=035000000000), and pattern.

2. Golden Crimson Ribbon (162) - Gold ribbon (Kwyllon Geerlok, Gunthak), hickory handled shears (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=8212), sylvan dye.

2a. Sylvan Dye (127) - Sylvan berries (Barkeep Tuviena, Kelethin), water flask. Combine in brew barrel.

3. Platinum Ribbon (182) - Platinum ribbon (Kwyllon Geerlok, Gunthak), elm handled shears (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=8213), sylvan dye.

4. Fleeting Quiver (222) - Fleeting quiver pattern (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=1336), griffon feathers, high quality lion skin, aviak egg oil, vial of distilled mana (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=2100). THIS ITEM IS NO DROP!

4a. Aviak Egg Oil (102) - Forage aviak eggs in Butcherblock Mountains, and combine with water flask in a brew barrel.

4b. Griffon Feathers - Rare drop from the obvious mob, griffons, griffawns, and griffennes. North Karana, East Karana, and Jaggedpine Forest have highest concentrations.

4c. High Quality Lion Skin - Uncommon drop from lions found all over the Karanas.

5. Tae Ew Armor (229) - Kill lizards in Cazic Thule for flawless tae ew hides and tae ew blood vials, then combine one of each to make a hardened lizard hide. Combine hardened lizard hide and pattern.

6. Grandmaster Tailor's Needle (250) - Embroidering needle, artisan seal.

6a. Embroidering Needle (122) - Celestial essence (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=1190&menustr=035000000000), metal bits, needle mold (Tratlan Matrick, PoK), water flask. Combine in a forge.

7. Tae Ew Hide Sack (295) - Combine two hardened lizard hides and a backpack pattern. Bag of Tinkerers weighs 1.0, but these weigh 0.1, so it helps those conscientious monks. It's also nice to give them away, since you'll be making so many. :)

I am getting close to doing my tradeskills for this.  Isnt there only 5 trade skills that are needed?

59, 69, 79, 89, 99?

Which 5 are they?  I dont want to make trophies for the ones I dont need lol.

One question for anyone that reads this.  Embroidering Needle, dont suppose they are vendor bought on the server like the corking device?  Or do I need to gather materials?

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Gantrathor on June 30, 2010, 03:40:43 pm
I'm pretty sure that one's made by a blacksmith.  EQTraders will have the answer

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Warriorstack on June 30, 2010, 04:18:22 pm
Yeah I know the recipe.  But Corking device was also suppose to be made.  Thats why I am why I am wondering if this is on a vendor somewhere.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Uxt on June 30, 2010, 04:28:41 pm
I'll be completing this guide by tomorrow.

Embroidering needle, fleeting quiver, and some other things will be added, as well as RoA info for the trophies.

Dang wish I had seen this when I was doing Fleeting Quiver... I farmed crystal silks in CC.. didn't know it was vendor buyable...  ;D

This is really nice to have.  There really aren't any good guides like this, most of them are very old and/or focussed on farming stuff like cat hides and crap, not just buying your way up...

I made malted milk and Ale in PoK for brewing, not sure how good those are vs your method..

Okay, should be done. If anyone sees anything missing that I'm just not realizing, let me know. :D

My last edit added fleeting quiver, some GM recipes, cleared up confusing from sub-combines (making dyes is brewing, in order to prepare for tailoring), and a little info of RoA in the beginning.

Every EMU server I have done tradeskills on you could attempt any combine and have a chance of making the item.
On Balthor I have like 7 skill in JC and made the item for ROA and my other skills ended up going from 1-less then 20 to make the rest of the stuff.
Only thing I actually had to work on was forage.
Tradeskills are still fun way to pass the time on a server where money is not a issue.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Warriorstack on July 02, 2010, 09:59:43 am
I dont suppose any of the runes, words, writs or any of the other materials that can be used for the Celestial Essence are vendor bought?  That would help out a ton.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Uxt on July 03, 2010, 08:03:57 am
Definitely, Calvin, just browse PoK vendors (90% of them have some) and scroll to the bottom. Any "words of ____" over 2 platinum are usable.

Having some trouble with firing the artisan's seal.  I've made plenty of the unfired ones but I am unable to fire them in the kiln.

I first tried the auto inventory to generate the list.  It wasn't there (I had plenty of high quality firing sheets).

Then I just tried to do the manual combo of (1) unfired seal, and (1) high quality firing sheet.  It wouldn't let me do the combo at all.

I am sure that I am missing something simple.  Maybe there is a recipe I need that I am not aware of.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Gantrathor on July 26, 2010, 01:44:37 pm
I never had an issue with firing them.  You are using a kiln and not the pottery wheel you used to create the unfired seal, correct?  If so, which kiln...it's not a cultural specific kiln is it?  Unless something is broken, I can't think of a reason they wouldn't fire.

Yea Kiln in PoK.  I will try on other boxes or in a different zone to see if that is the case.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Uxt on July 27, 2010, 09:34:18 am
Has to do something with the client, but even then sometimes it won't work right. For me, it didn't show in the auto-combine and I did it manually, and it worked fine... but others can't combine regardless. I have Titanium client, others have the same, but they can't combine whereas I can. Weird.

The easiest work-around is to just give the stuff to someone else and hope they can combine for you.

Question...

I was beginning the rank 59 baking skill last night and noticed in my skill window that my baking skill was at 250 while my working skill was only at 126 or so.  I remembered the 99% baking mod was on the RoA and was curious about whether or not that meant that the grandmaster's baking spoon could be attempted without progressing further into the baking skill.  I did not have the time to attempt, but was curious if this was the case.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Uxt on August 04, 2010, 04:05:02 pm
Yes, RoA grants +99% baking skill that makes the baking GM spoon a "given" so players are inclined to keep grinding through it than see the requirement and give up at 59. You can, however, attempt with skill level at 1 and still acquire it with decent success, so the baking mod is only for show, unfortunately.

Post by: ookii on August 04, 2010, 09:37:21 pm
My warrior, bard, and druid can't combine unfired artisan seals and HQ Firing sheets in the Kiln. I've tried Pok, Rivervale, and Halas. For the hell of it I tried to combine it in other stuff, didn't work.

This is all I've tried thus far, but its really a pain to swap items and port around on different toons.

Anyone have a fix for this or a tip on getting them to combine right??

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Murrjok on August 05, 2010, 05:27:44 pm
You MUST use the new tradeskill window. you cannot manualy combine the Seals.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: ookii on August 05, 2010, 10:35:47 pm
The recipe doesn't show on the list when i hit show recipe. Maybe I'm miss understanding what you mean by NEW trade skill window. There must be a trade skill window I don't know about.

Is it different then the one that pops up after right clicking on the kiln?

And by manual combine do you mean, from the the recipe window, hitting the experiment button and combining in the bag that the window turns into?

This is titanium client BTW.

Thanks for responding.

Post by: lerxst2112 on October 12, 2010, 01:05:09 pm

If you're going to try a combine with low skill, make sure you have the tradeskill AAs maxxed.  It gives you an additional 50% chance over and above the minimum 5% chance for any combine.  You'll probably want to skill up jewelcrafting unless you're an enchanter, because they are the only ones with that AA.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Gunther on October 13, 2010, 05:30:44 pm
Followed your advice on the jewelcrafting and got the skill up to 160 before attempting the Grandmasters Eyeglass.

Got it on the second combine!

Edit: Bye the way, I wasted 12 artisan seals before I got the jewelcraft to 160. The cost of getting jewler to 160 was only about 40K pp.

As far as unfired artisan seals go...they need a vial of purified mana.  Do I need to find an enchanter to do this combine for me every time, or can I buy it from a vendor?

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: lerxst2112 on February 13, 2011, 07:09:13 am

You need an enchanter to make the vials.  I rolled my own to do it, but you might be able to find someone willing to make some for you.  It's tradeable and the mats can be purchased from the vendors in pok, so get several made and stick them in the bank.

Post by: Smasht on March 17, 2011, 02:57:09 pm
does making the GM items at 1 skill still work?  I am currently at the mid 100s on all of my tradeskills and if i can save the time and money to just make some seals and give it a try that way I will, if its still possible/probable.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Brokyn on March 18, 2011, 11:54:56 am
I found that all but JC and Tailoring worked pretty well at 1...  I raised JC to 220ish and had no trouble, and I raised tailoring over 100 and had no trouble.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: Smasht on March 18, 2011, 01:37:48 pm
Damn, I was kind of hoping to avoid the Jewelcrafting, i've leveled all but that one to the mid 100s, maybe i'll just get that one to the mid 100s too and try my luck from there.

Sylvan Dye (127) - Sylvan berries (Barkeep Tuviena, Kelethin)

Karkeep Tuviena hasn't sold Sylvan berries.

If you have the money to burn on seals, don't bother leveling any skills.  I did not level any of mine before going for it. I'd say the most fails I had on 1 trophy was 15. It can get pretty expensive considering each trophy costs what, 1500 Plat if you have to buy the gems off the vendor?

For tailoring, on live I used to do woven mandrake, 2 mandrake root in the loom, think it went to 80 somethin. Fairly quick to get to there using that one, and the dude right there in PoK at the loom sells them.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: lerxst2112 on September 16, 2011, 12:29:35 pm

If you have all the AAs for tradeskills you have a slightly better than 50% chance to make any item.  Jewelcrafting is worth working up a bit though unless you're an enchanter, because they are the only one with that AA.

Hi guys,

I'm upgrading my skills with my BST.  Have done baking till 250 and made my GM bakerspooon with success.  Now I wanted to start upgrading brewing which I have also to get to 250.  Problem is that my BST-skill can only max till 200  ???

What should I do ?  Can I get my BST-brewing-skill beyond 200 or should I upgrade brewing with another char, for exemple my MAGE ? (I read earlier that all these tradeskill-items are tradable between different chars, is this correct ?  So my mage can make the GM brewers-corks and pass it to my BST, or am I wrong here ?)

Some help would be great  ;D

Kind regards,
Alrazor

Post by: Solbash on October 26, 2011, 04:21:04 am
You cannot transfer Grandmaster items between characters. Check to make sure your bst has the tradeskill aa's maxed under the general tab, it is called New Tanaan Crafting Mastery. That should fix your problem.

Also, it is not necessary to max out the skills in order to make the GM items.  Some folks don't even skill up to 100.  You'll have some fails, but if plat isn't an issue, it's much faster.  I got all mine to around 150 and didn't fail a single GM combine.

Title: Re: Tradeskilling Guide!
Post by: alrazor on October 27, 2011, 04:43:53 am
Hi Gantrathor,

Yes, I read it earlier in this topic that you don't have to max each skill.  For example my brewing-skill is at 47 and I failed 3 times.  I will do some upgrading to 150 and give it another try.  The only thing you can't control is you need an enchanter to make that vial-essence-thing.  Should be nice if it would be sold by an vendor  ;D
Anyway, thanks a lot for the information, always nice that people reply on topics

Kind regards,
Alrazor

If you have the aa for each tradeskill you have a 50% chance to create any item. The only one you can't get tradeskill aa for is Jewelry making as that is ench only.

Thanks! this guide helped me do my crafters guild quest.  I got each of the 5 skills around 100-130 using these vendor paths before attempting the grandmaster combine and never needed more than three artisan seals for one.

*Update*

Block -> 1 Large brick -> 1 small bricks -> 2 small pieces

found something interesting yesterday. I leveled my baking to 130. Then I leveled my pottery to 140. Then I looked at my baking skill and it is at 270.

Look at your roa ring.
