Introduction

Dear Draca, Akkadius, and the entire EZ community,

I am truly humbled and honored to be welcomed into the EZ Server Admin Team. It has been an incredible journey for me as a player on EZServer since 2009, and to now have the opportunity to contribute to its legacy from the other side is a privilege I do not take lightly.


Background

A little background about me: I am a 42-year-old teacher and game enthusiast from Norway, and my love affair with EverQuest began in 1999 when it first came out. In 2009, I ventured into the world of EQEmulator servers and found my home on EZServer, where I have remained ever since. In recent years I've delved deeper into the mechanics of the game, both as a player, testing things and giving feedback, and as a novice developer when I was working on random things own my private EQEmu server. I was fortunate enough to be asked by Draca to work on a small alternate project for the server, Misty Thicket. I found this project to be surprisingly fun, interesting and skill enhancing, much thanks to the assistance I got from Draca while I tried to navigate through the process.

Moving forward, all things have an end and that's also the case for my player career.I've been at the top of the game for a long time and I have had such a good ride over the years as a player on EZ. Now it's time for me to put my characters on the shelf and continue the down the sidewalk next to the road. While I could certainly have continued on as a player with resonable limitations, like when I created Misty Thicket, it's time for me to end one chapter and start a new and exciting one. The decision is not made lightly, but through careful consideration over the past months. I am certain it's the best choice for me moving forward, so I've made up my mind about it. In closing on that subject, I want to thank all the players on EZ that I have been fortunate enough to share the experience with.


Hunter and EZ Legacy

I want to take a moment to reflect on the legacy left by Hunter. I consider myself fortunate to have played on EZServer long enough to experience the time when he was alive, actively creating content, and delighting players with surprising and amusing moments. His contributions have left an indelible mark on this community, and I am grateful to have been part of the journey during his time.

Akkadius, thank you for carrying on the stewardship in Hunter's spirit. The dedication of the EQEmulator community and the tireless efforts of individuals like yourself is the main reason we're here today with this old gem of a game.

Draca, my friend, you have made such a big and positive impact on EZServer in recent years. I've said it countless times, but I'll gladly say it again: We're very lucky to have you as our GM and developer. While real life deals us some busy hands at times, I know you are as dedicated and serious about EZServer as it's possible to get. I think we will make a good team and eventually we can pick up each others work when one of us has busy days ahead.  

Collaboration

In continuation of that, I think there is a good structure in place. It's fantastic that I can join the development team at a time when Draca, a seasoned GM, is already on board. Draca's experience and guidance will be invaluable as I navigate the world of development. His role as the main decision-maker on EZServer ensures a cohesive and supportive environment, allowing me to lean on him for support as I embark on this exciting journey. The voluntary nature of our work allows for a collaborative effort. Two minds working together can only benefit the server even more, hopefully resulting in the creation of content in a more rapid manner while maintaining the quality stamp that has defined EZServer.

Player Assurance and Commitment

To the players of EZServer, I want to assure you that although I am transitioning from a player to a member of the development team, my commitment to the server remains unwavering. I understand the weight of this decision, but I am excited about the opportunity to contribute in a new capacity. Your support and feedback have always been crucial, and I am eager to work together to enhance the EZ experience.

Upcoming Development and Projects:

I am fully aware that I am a novice developer with a steep learning curve ahead, but I am eager to face the challenges head-on. My first major project, Tier 12 - Kael Drakkel and the War of the Giants, is already in the works and I am super excited about it. It's still a long road ahead for me and I may not always have the same capacity as I had when I was a player, but knowing myself, once I start something, I have a hard time taking a break from it

Thanks for the opportunity to make Misty Thicket. Its been so much fun to work on. Hopefully newer players will find it fun and engaging to play.

For me, completing the PB task was never the lingering part once everything else was accomplished. I typically went through it with a group of 4 or more characters, so I usually finished the PB phase before all characters obtained their tokens and completed the UA quest. Before I started doing ZP in there to level up chars, I may have had the issue with PB's though. Been a long time since.

I got no strong feelings either way though, 500 or 1k PB kills.

So T11 is closer to release than ever before and while there are tons of work left before the Tier is live, I wanted to get a discussion going regarding the EZWiki and T11.

I certainly make mental notes when testing content and I don't mind spending time on adding some general information about Dragonscale once it hits live. However,  I know there are difference in opinions regarding what some would call spoilers and others would just see as a useful place to look up information. So I wanted to get a thread going so we can get an idea of how everyone feels about it, perhaps even put it a poll at some point.

My personal perspective is that the Wiki is a place you can choose to visit, or not. Certainly most questions can be asked and answered in OOC, and they will be. General information about quests,  boss names,  loot, faction and how to progress in the tier are normally information that could be available for those that wish to seek it, in my opinion. Tips and tricks on how to beat this or how to more efficiently do that may be information that has not historically been added at all or at least not in the beginning. Personally I don't have any strong feelings either way,  but that's me. I am already ready for T11 and will most likely have many chances to be one of the first to try out new stuff. Things may feel different for others.

We will conclude the event round this weekend. I will be personally overseeing its execution for those who have yet to experience its wonders. It's an excellent opportunity for those who haven't participated yet to join in on the fun before the temporary hiatus begins. If you want to join, just let me know in-game, through Discord or here on the forum, and we'll find a time to do it.

After this weekend, brace yourselves for the suspenseful anticipation of our esteemed GM Draca's decision on when we, mere mortals, are worthy of indulging in the event's exhilaration once more! Stay on the edge of your seats, dear players, for future updates that will enlighten us about the event's grand return. I can think of a few end game players that are pretty active that has yet to participate in this also, but we do get a pretty good idea from this. Hopefully T11 will bring back some old timers too.

20 people, that's pretty good attendance. Thanks to all that has helped with DPS this weekend, some up to several times after they killed Rallos themselves.

Realistically, tomorrow will likely be the last day I got for this event for anyone that has not done it yet, before I leave for Spain. Anywhere from 10 am to 23.30 pm @ GMT +2 is possible tomorrow. Just let me know and we can try to set something up.
Anyone else that wants to give it a go, but haven't had the time due to RL, I will help set up once I am back from Spain on the 7th of July. After that we close this round of Rallos Zek killage and wait for more in the future.
