So, as most know I dont play much anymore. RL has made my free time rather limited lately, for one....and for another I needed a break Cheesy

Anyway, I have had the client we use added to my google drive for some time now, but recently google has decided that this violates their TOS and has disabled the link. Wondering if anyone has any space they wouldnt mind using to host/list the client. Lemme know!

Hehe.....Jorply. Urinal server? Barb warrior? I was actually guilded with him once ages ago before they created Drinal, when he was on Mith Marr, Pretty sure he moved there with Cats in Hats. I always got the impression he was either played by two people or had some serious personality disorders, because he'd go from being a well spoken, rather decent guy to someone who typed completely in "txtspk" and acted like a 14 year old with Turrets.
19  General Category / General Discussion / Re: T9 Boost on: March 12, 2017, 11:58:30 am
I'm in agreement with Peign....which I can tell you isnt a normal thing Tongue My first day in T9 was IIRC also my first day in the guild I am in now. Pretty sure Rent was one of the people who heard me ask in guild chat, "Is it supposed to be this easy??"

Look, when you can mosey into T9 with NO UC3 on your team (9 boxes, not 12, not 18) wearing T8 gear, and even then only with a warrior UW7 (yes, UW mace and T8 parrying blade) then start pulling 10 to 20 mobs at a time....its a Spock-brow moment.  I sure as hell wasnt being "someone that out gears the shit out of it" When after gearing up less than half your 18 box team and getting your warrior UW9 you're pulling 30 to 50 mobs at a time with just your overzealous box DPS (wizzie and rogue) dying with any regularity....its pretty concerning. When you're STILL just in T9 gear you can solo the undead invasion fairly regularly on your warrior (hell, I can do it now on my necro and he is STILL T9 geared) somethings broken.

Curious as to what was meant by doing content geared "as intended". Are you perhaps keeping your armor bagged and killing naked that its such a challenge? Because I can tell you, and you can prove it for yourself by looking at some of my old posts from late 2014, early 2015, I've been saying T9 was overnerfed for years....well before T10 came out.

Anyway, what the hell does my opinion matter. I'm semi retired Cheesy All I can say is that I'm glad to see Rent helping Akk handle the server. Akk had way too much on his plate, and Rent will help him iron things out. As for our previous GM....well, he meant well, but sometimes he got carried away "fixing" things (T9 DEFINITELY being one of those things)...and thats as far as I am willing to go on that.

Does this mean more goat porn quests in T11?

I will undoubtedly be back, after things settle down from the move.

As for the amount of players who fall off mid tiers....how is that different from any other MMO?? Its ALWAYS that way, has been since I started playing these games in '97 (well, 93 if you count AOL's NWN)....and its seldom because of how hard the game is. People decide its not what they wanted....they decide they dont like the player base....or, and this according to Massively is the NUMBER ONE reason players quit before end game: they get bored. The game doesnt hold their interest, for a variety of reasons, but top in the list is that its just not challenging.

I'd been trying to hold on for a long time, but T9 killed me. I walked into the zone with T8 gear, ONE UC3 in my team and a single UW (7) on my warrior. I could just about solo three trash mobs even with that gear. Within 2 hours in I was mass pulling one to two dozen mobs at a time. After upgrading to a UW10 and getting full T9 armor I was soloing the undead swarm. It was pathetically easy. Granted it didnt start that way, but Hate and Hunter's fixes to some of the issues went overboard.

Then T10 hit. Loved how hard the mobs hit, loved what seemed like a decent challenge. But Hate took our suggestions on encouraging people to team up to succeed a bit too far, and made it no instance. Then he completely removed ANY means of characters shedding agro....which is find if you are single boxing and can manage agro, but its a death sentence for your DPS if you box. These two issues made it less than fun for me. Got tired of feeling like a douche because I was using a camp someone else needed and didnt want to group with them because I wouldn't piss on em if they were on fire and had em on ignore.

So....I avoided T10, except for times I knew the zone was empty, and or was able to team with friends or guidlies. But the zone never felt right for me for whatever reason: maybe memories of early bugs, or maybe I just hate the way its setup....dont know. I just get bored of it after 30 minutes any time I play.

But too hard? Hardly. And from talking to a dozen or so players who I helped get started here who have since left, I can tell you only one said it was because it was too hard....but that had a lot to do with him trying to box on a Windows XP system with 3 gig ram and a second gen (Prescott) P4.

Nah. A year or so ago I was told there was no way you could get a group of 6 to 70 with no help in a normal single session, so I ran through a group with absolutely no help from my older chars....NO buffs from other players, just a war, a cleric, a chanter, 2 zerks and a monk. Was very easy. Considerably more so than when I started. I went through to 70 and farming time gear less than 5 hours after I started the characters. A day later I was in CT and a day after that I was in T1.

One thing I could NOT avoid, though, was knowledge. I knew how to maximize what I had, I knew how to get the most out of the zone I was in....but arguably with all the wiki info and whatnot readily available any player starting from scratch does to an extent as well.

If its somehow "hard AF" you are either doing it wrong or can claim Warcrap was your first MMO.

But even when I started (2009) it wasnt hard here. It was pretty easy. Just far more time consuming farming some things because no instance system like EZ has now, and boxing wasnt as "simple out of the box" as it is now. I went through playing a warrior and boxing a shaman, no MQ2, with a few friends helping. Again, simple, not much of a challenge other than just spending the time. Only challenge spots back then were Kronos, Shadow (his regen was ridiculous, as were the old AE effects he had) then, later,  Warlord (always hated Death Touch).

I tried to be, but I just couldnt get myself back into the swing. Every time things started to come together and I'd try to play, I had a phone call from work or some random BS from a lawyer or real estate agent making me AFK for an hour or two. Again, I am sure I will be back, but probably not til I am moved and get the new office working well.
25  General Category / General Discussion / Re: yea...I think I am going to go ahead and um... on: February 28, 2017, 01:26:14 pm
Wasnt T10 that kept me away, honestly....was.....boredom, I guess. Same ol same ol. Add to that a promotion that has me moving across the country and setting up a new office....well, you get the idea. I tried to make it work for a while, but when I logged in I spent 3/4 my time AFK dealing with meat world shit.

I know I'll be back, but may take a year.

27  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Suggested Changes (mostly lower tier content) on: February 10, 2017, 08:16:30 am
In some of the lower, more boring zones maybe take a page from the Plane of Growth playbook....every X amount of mobs killed, spawn mobs like the Protectors of Growth, who are RIDICULOUSLY hard to kill for the tier.....completely resistant to procs, perhaps, with very beefy mitigation....maybe tie their level to the highest level character in the instance...dont know. Just an idea.

And big yes to making resist stones level limited. Maybe make it progressive....rank 1's only til you hit T3....or make them recommended level as they progress, so that the benefits are incredibly limited til you level. Also, hell yes on buff limits. Start to 70 has pretty much always been trivial here, but now later tiers are trivial as well as long as you hang out in Nexus for a while. And before you all start arguing about making it harder for new players now that we all have ours, keep in mind that many of us "got ours" before most of these buffs even existed.

And sorry, been working myself up to playing again.
28  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Newbie, first week. Getting buffed??? on: January 06, 2017, 07:34:12 am
Or do what the players who cast those buffs did: level up characters yourself who can cast such buffs, then cast them yourself. Even my reward clicky from my time as Loremaster only gave me the buffs I'd already earned.....I just got them in a one click stop.
29  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Few questions from a newbie on: January 05, 2017, 01:08:16 pm
Chanter has the biggest impact on a group with very heavy AoE dps classes.....so they do very very well paired with zerkers or necros.

cut the utility and go with the holy trinity

Heh....originally the "Holy Trinity" was tank, heal and CC. Warcrap kids changed it to suit their game later.
