Forgive my ignorance, but I am looking to start on this server and wanted to find out a little more about rules and content. I read the standard rules about botting and cheating but no mention of allowing multi boxing or alts to help level up and do content.

I am fairly sure a lot of players are at high / end game content and would not be interested in playing with a level 1 character but if you could please let me know any specific rules pertaining to two clients etc would be appreciated.

Regards

Hello and welcome to EZ, Stellar

If you want to know more about the content, I've made a guide and showcase series for EZ on YouTube that may help you.
I also highly recommend you to join our Discord channel. There you will find a lot of good resources as well as here on the forums. There are channels with macros, useful hot keys/MQ2 commands and other EZ related information, along with a lot of helpful players that can help you out.

There is a thread for it here on the forums, but you can also find links to the videos on our Wiki page: http://wiki.ezserver.online/EZGuides
The Wiki page is also a great resource, where you can read up on most of the important things to know for EZ.

This video will touch in on what EZ is about somewhat and also shows how easy you can box many chars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR7AwrK7tpM&ab_channel=Sarthin

There is no real limit to how many characters you can box on this server. I bet the average is 18 characters or so, but new players always tend to start out smaller and then build up as they go. Starting with a group of 6 is recommended. A warrior, Paladin, Cleric and Rogue is basically a cookie cutter group. The last two spots can be a variety of classes really, depending on how you want to play. You may reach the end game with only 6 characters, but most people make another group once they hit Tier 5 - Abyss, which I highly recommend.

The principle here on EZ when it comes to boxing is that you may run everything from your main tank client window. We run our boxes via the broadcast system in MQ2, so /bct cleric //cast 1 and so on. Think of the main window as the puppet master. Just make sure you don't automate anything when fighting for AA or exp. It may seem like a lot of work and management, but from own experience it's really just a bit time consuming to set up, once you are done, you can with only a few hot key presses per fight, make sure your Rogues backstab, your Wizards cast their damage spell, your Clerics target and heal you once, and so on. Some things are allowed to run via macros though, like loot macros and buff macros are allowed. Making a macro or run a plugin for i.e. your cleric to heal and buff you through the entire fight automated is a no go. Making a hot key on your main window that sends a /bca //keypress 2 for example is a good way to control your other characters. Then you can go through your other characters and make sure their hot key #2 does something important for a fight.

Here is how I do it for instance:

My warrior has a hot key 2 that says /bca //keypress 2, which tells all my clients to press their hot key #2. So my clerics hot key 2 is basically a /multiline ; /target sarthin pc ; /cast 1 (1 is my heal spell), my Rogues have their backstab button on hot key #2, Wizards have a hot key to cast a damage item, then cast their DD spell, and so on. You will get a long way with this. Also need an attack hot button, which you can find on Discord. Tell your chars to assist you and stick to target and attack it.

EZ is made for boxing, so you won't find insanely intricate boss fights here where you need to run hundreds of different spells and abilities to master the servers content.

See you in game!

Just tossing it out there, this is probably the best sum up to the MQ2 questions.

Nice work Sarthin.

Also, Stellar his videos are great and detailed for the server.  Perfect for a new person.

You will find people to help you for sure with buffs or what not, but a lot of us will AFK and leave 16 toons sitting around.  Not ignoring you, we are probably alt tabbed watching porn.

Welcome!
