Title: DPS Parsed:
Post by: Apology on December 03, 2010, 05:03:42 am
Just parsed my ranger on the MoW Practice Dummy.
4.0 bow // tundra 5 // Hunter 1 arrow // tacvi quiver // buff-bot buffs // Secrets Secret Ranger Secrets.

Came up at 2223 DPS over a five minute parse.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Edit 1: In consideration of Tibador's insight that I was shooting a rooted mob,  conventional wisdom
suggests that this would mean my true DPS should be around 4,400.)

(Edit 2: Parse 2 on Shadow, 19 minutes, Hunter II arrow, 5,685 dps.)

My rangers use to parse higher with worse gear. Lemme check if I have those log files I can stick through Gamparse

edit:
only fights I can find from that old log where the fight was longer then 54seconds was against kronos and I used trueshot so its a flawed example. I know I have logs somewhere.
Just responding because I visually see a drop in damage, something thats been talked about here for days now and I find it interesting. I miss seeing streams of 9600 arrows and 16720ish trueshots. Used true shot yesterday on a mob and was lucky to see a hit break 11k

One thing you have to remember apology is you take half or even less not sure if people have ran the numbers correctly before on rooted mobs so at min x2 that damage ok that still sucks i agree but its better then what you parsed.

And if you want accurate parses they need to be long 10 mins i would say is what i use to just get an idea if i want actual data i do 1 hour or more.

On your insight, I ran off to parse on Avatars in HoH. Found my DPS to be about 1,000 higher.

Still sucks, like you said.

Welcoming anyone else to bring data to the table.

I have one question if you have 4.0 bow why are you using hunter arrow 1.... Change that bow to a sword and get hunter arrow 2.....

Yeah all the mellee classes took a huge dps nerf on that last source code update.  I'm sure Hunter will tweak them all to bring them in line again, or lower mobs hps or something.

I parsed a shadow fight before the patch, lasted about 24 minutes and ranger came up to be 17k+ DPS with the 4.0 bow, hunter arrow II, T3 spell, Fleeting quiver, and trueshot activated from the beginning (29600 crits more or less).

I conjured Hunter II and did a third and final parse on Shadow.

Over 19 minutes, with trueshot, my DPS totaled as high as 5,685.

Sad days indeed for the melee peeps.

I haven't really noticed a difference on my monk who is pure melee without any uber augs, or the physical dps of my warriors or paladins either.

Looking at the code I don't see any changes to the actual formula for damage from ranged attacks.  Are you getting less crits than you used to?

One thing that could be tweaked to help ranged attacks is the ArcheryBaseDamageBonus rule.  If that was increased from the default of 1 then ranged attacks would have a higher max damage amount in the base calculation before AAs and such add to it.

The base amount is calculated like this:
Code:
uint32 MaxDmg = (RuleR(Combat, ArcheryBaseDamageBonus)*(WeaponDmg+AmmoDmg)*305) / 100;

Post-patch parse puts me at around the same 5,000 DPS I had before shooting Avatars, and around 2290 shooting the practice dummy.

Essentially identical.

With Secrets Secret Ranger Secrets working, getting closer to 7,500 dps on an HOH avatar.

That's about 500 less than what high end enchanter pets are doing.

Gawd what a mess.  Enchanter pets doing more dps than a ranger?!

8k dps confirmed by my parse, Skorps' parse with another parsing tool, and Apology's parse.

Can go up to bursts of 10k dps.

Effective delay on the pet, 10, and a crit rate of .... drumrolls... 0.7%.

Wish I could get pet crit AA's, but unfortunately, they're not for chanters.

Tried giving it cleave items, but that doesnt seem to help with the crit rate at all.

Gawd what a mess.  Enchanter pets doing more dps than a ranger?!

Yeah what happened, source code update fubar melee/range attacks or what?

My paladin does easily 50% more DPS than my ranger and that's just sad... The only way my ranger can match his DPS is to pop Trueshot and well, 2 minutes once per hour?  Bleah...

Any ETA on a fix for this??

There is no eta, hunter has got it sorta back to almost where it was...look at the kneejerk posts from like three weeks ago when we were down 30%dps on all melee...

It's a slow process but at least hunter and the community are working with fixes... I wouldn't expect anything soon

Post your parses...also does your ranger have ssrs? Ranger to spell..it helps but not anywhere close to what it was....

Good thing is prod rate vs haste appears to be way better then last week when a fully to char could die in qvic lol....

I haven't parsed anything, just tested on the FG dummy to see if I can beat the regen and start lowering HPs.

Ranger is 3x 3.0s, all with MossyII and the 75 lifetap aug, I know I need better augs, just need a few million plats first.. :(  Also has Brawlers 25, for all the good it does (still broken??) and RoA 17 or so... lol.

With melee, with or without Falcon strike (epic clicky) - dummy goes down to 96-97% at best, then regens. Can't beat regen.

With ranged attacks, it's even worse, 98% can't beat regen.  If I pop Trueshot THEN I can beat the regen, though only for 2 minutes... I think it got down to 87% or something, then Trueshot wears of and ooops regens back to 100%..

Paladin is 3.0, same crappy augs... Oracle 25, RoA 4 or something lame..  - /autoattack and it beats regen NO problem.  Takes a while but I can kill the dummy easily.

Oh, ranger only had noobie arrow (fire tip something) when I did this, I just got a tacvi arrow (finally) will try again but I don't expect much change.  He's had a tacvi quiver for a long time, I actually crafted one with the help of Ieawenpo's enchanter lol...

Did you take like a month vacation and just decide to pull a Reed on every post?

About 6 months, and what's a Reed?  :)

He's just yanking your chain. Reed went and made posts everywhere he could to get his post count high.

I don't get post count high I get high on LIFE MAN.. wait what?

Anyhoo, I realized I was testing with the dummy bot which is rooted so ranger damage, ranged attacks that is.. are basically only doing half dmg...   And Trueshot basically doubles damage AFAIK.. so it's about even I guess.

Tried again with tacvi arrow.. no change really but considering DPS will be 2x on non-rooted mobs... I guess it evens out.
