Just made my first char on EZ, a bard, and he's 28 right now.  I plan to play him as a "main" and not a box'd buff bot.  Just curious if anyone who plays or plays with a bard had any thoughts on the usefulness of this class at high end content.  Also, while I realize that the bard is more about buffing others than being great dps himself, where does he stand in comparison to rangers, rogues, warriors, and some of the casters as far as personal dps goes?

It's a sad that charming doesn't work here (used to see bards doing that all the time on live to solo) so I appreciate any insight as to the strengths of this class.  Thanks!

unfortunately what you said was true.
Bards are used for buff songs (haste) in higher end content or used to RoA with.
If not either of those, normally not used at all.
There is no comparison to a Ranger DPS wise, especially after their pretty hard nerf with AE song dmg.

I play a bard main, always have, its just fun to me idk, but I really like my dps sometime, Im not in any tier gear yet but 3.0's half ldon/qvic but when I twist 4 dots and then throw in the AoE song that was changed to single target you can pump out decent numbers, I mean I can solo LDoN bosses in like half a second doing those

I am guessing that is an exaggeration. That would be about 100x as fast a 3.0 pet.

Well ya, not half a second, but like 10-15 seconds give or take some, it is pretty crazy dmg, I wish I would of had an upgraded sorc charm to play around with but didn't Sad wonder how much more dmg I would of done with that.

So the epics increase dot songs as well as direct damage songs?  That seems pretty cool.  How about kiting for xp by gathering a swarm and aoe dotting all of them?

normally its done with a DS.
DS with 3.0's are like 1300dmg or something

how do you get 1300 dmg with DS.

I have 3.0x2 and didn't get 1300, i have less than 1000.

200 dmg from shoulder aug from PoD, 25dmg from fire illusion, there is a face clicky with +15dmg... there is a few other clickies. i'll post them when i get home. at work atm.

/melody Psalm of Veesha, warmarch of the marum (which ever is level 68), Amplification , random other song

With a few clickies and shoulder slot DS aug level 5 from pod gets you over 1400, oh and 3.0 bard epic with AA's.

I just got to level 30 and memmed Amplification.  It doesn't seem to increase my Bellow or my Psalm DS at all.  Is the damage capped by level and so that's why I'm not seeing any benefit yet?

Hey who has that picture of that bard doing crazy super bad ass damage.
Since #hatelist is no longer available and I do not use my parser anymore I have no clue what my bard does these days. Have to say with melody change and spending more then 1 second a night on the bard screen I probably went up in damage.

I know this is an old post but your bellow damage should go up. Psalm might not go up because you have to play amplification first, meaning if you /melody psalm amp (in that order) you will not notice a difference, where as if you /melody amp psalm (in that order) there will be a difference.
