31  General Category / General Discussion / Functionalize My Shaman!!!! on: February 01, 2012, 07:25:04 am
Hunter:

Poor Moggok has a very boring game life.  He is so tired of running behind the crew casting Kraken in T5 and MGB's because that is the only thing he is good at with his current skill and tool set.

However!  he can return to the ranks of the useful and yet not approach the realm of the over-powered.  For instance, if the 'teats on a bull' effect of the Heyokah blessing were to be replaced with the Holy Knight strike effect then the shaman becomes a much more useful playable class.  The agro reduction is a nice effect and everything, but Shaman here do not slow the npcs and thus do not generate anywhere near the level of agro to need a reduction.

Spare the shaman of EZ from a life of RoA buffing and fighter polishing!  Let them heal!

Thanks for the work on the quest npcs in Surefall and the experience they drop for quest completion.

When you have slack time to glance at it and the inclination to putz with it,  the Frell Shagwell quest to kill 20 kobolds in Velketor is only dropping about 2/3 of a level per completion in the low 50's to 60 level range.  Once over 60 it is back to just over a level per quest completion.

DEFINITELY not a priority!  Grin

If you die on one of the LDON levels before the gatekeeper on 5 that gives you a key then you must be rezzed back to your corpse or you must restart the journey from level 1.

In other words you must complete the entire series of floors from 1 to the end of 5 as a single process.  It can be interrupted by camping out and back in to the same spot later, but otherwise must be a continuous process.

....
If you were able to buy 44 essences, that means that one or more people got a surplus of essences when they were farming.  Some people have a better rapport with the RNG.
...
Maybe some of the issue that is causing people to be short on essences is that they are buying all their gear drops instead of farming.  If you buy gear, you don't get the boss kills in to defeat the RNG.

My experience has been that RNG does not like to drop minors for me, dragon or god.  I seem to see about 30% more drops on majors of both variety.  I suspect that things are working as planned.  Cheesy

Good job on bootstrapping so far!

There is wisdom above in the statements that you will need a bit more depth as you get higher up.  I would recommend you consider raising your main tank to UC status before building the other team members you need.  I do not have the words to tell you how much easier it is to raise an alt with a UC'd main.

Which is why you should lower aug prices, so I can enjoy my job again!!!!!

On the serious side, very glad both you and that retread are both safe.  Like others I had to look a second time to see what really happened.  It always amazes me how some rocket scientist of a driver thinks that somehow that tractor trailer barreling down the road at speed is not subject to the laws of inertia and momentum.

One of the reasons no one will die and appoint me God is I would fix that behavior.  Anyone being that stupid with a vehicle would find themselves miraculously transported to their driveway with the car parked.  They would also discover a newly grown abject terror of ever operating a vehicle unless another human being's life depended on it.  Shocked

Hmm, about those statistics....

Break it down for me one more time please.

As you do so, show me how a previous jump/no jump event in the same fight has a bearing on the next jump/no jump event.

My point is simply that if the results of the first event are not factored into and have no effect on the second jump then your chance of any given jump/no jump event is identical to the first all the way through the chain.

I have not seen anything that suggests input from the first event affects the second or subsequent events.

(Think about flipping coins: it is 50-50 EACH toss.  Got 10 heads in a row?  The odds of getting a heads on the next flip remain 50%, despite our (very common) belief  that "tails is due".  In the alternative, think about drawing a letter tile out of a bag with 104 tiles, 4 of each of the letters of the English alphabet.  Your chance of any given letter is 4 / 104 or 1 / 26.  Assume you draw a "Z".  Your chance of drawing another "Z" is now only 3 / 103 because the removal of the tile from the bag clearly changed the number of tiles in the problem.  However, if you replace the "Z" before drawing the second tile, your chances are back up to 1 / 26.

There is no similar process to the tile draw without replacement here.  This event is identical in property to that of flipping a coin:  Each jump / no jump event is unrelated to any other.)

My personal experience from building UC's on Shadow has been he tends to jump 0-3 times on me.  His worst has been 9 jumps for me.  I generally kill him a half a dozen times a day during the week and expect to do so for at least another 2 UC's, probably 4 cause I'm ill in the haid!

I suspect the poof at the end of 14 jumps was a timer failure.  I understand that you have an hour to kill him from first engaging. (Anecdotal from in game discussions.)  While my team is not pure thug, I do manage to kill Shadow in just under 4 minutes if he does not jump.  If he were to jump on me 14 times I would be out of luck because of travel times to move from one fight to the next in the chain.  Perhaps an older, wiser head can speak to the 1 hour limit I've heard mentioned?

I only ready up till I saw "the only class that has a version of coh that works in qvic"...

Wall of text is ok if it's good, valid information....  P.S.  SK have summon corpse as well Smiley

What he said.  Grin

I run a mainly plate crew: SK / PAL / WAR / CLR / BST / PAL (SHM buffer trailing).  I didn't have to spend forever in qvic to plate up because I developed the crew one at a time.  I originally started playing Moggok in the misunderstood belief that FM needed a shaman and I like the class.  Realizing the buffbot status of Shaman here and seeing how the dice roll, I moved to a functional tank.  I went SK over pally as main because I could see sk's work better early but could not see how good pallys are in the top game.  Having played EQ since release I understand the power of a druid for a leveling toon so I ran one up to 70 for a support toon.

Using the shaman/druid combo I grew Skeezy to T4 and mostly done with his UC before rolling a pally, then rolling a cleric, then rolling a warrior, then the beastlord, and now the second paladin.  I am considering rolling a 2nd warrior to replace the beast if his darn pet doesn't stay alive with 2 pallys and a cleric blessing it!!!  As I finish gearing up the team through RoA / AQ / T5 and getting the proper HP on everyone I will migrate the main tank role to the warrior leaving the SK as puller and first OT.

I would suggest, whatever team composition you decide upon, that you consider building the team by building your main to T4 / UC level first, then adding crew.  The process is much faster imo.

Double loot?  I don't know.... I'd feel really guilty spending my Christmas weekend in Velks farming gems, but OTOH, I could actually raise enough funds to put a VI aug or two on my main!  Cheesy

DL would be nice, but those events really trash the economy.  Perhaps a useful item, like maybe a 'summon vendor' item with a 20 hour cool down....

.... PALs would be just a bit more self sufficient and possibly not require a 2nd PAL in group at T4 plus just to survive (same with SKs).....

Paladins are already the most self-sufficient single class out there and SK's are right behind them.  You don't need a 2nd pal for heals in t4, you just need a UC on that first pally!  Cheesy

I really like the idea of a plate class only shield with a heal proc on it.

Adding more people to your guild raid *should* add more DPS if DPS is a problem.

Its the end of the game. Its suppose to be a challenge.

Yes sir, it absolutely should.  Not to be impertinent, but if you would like to share a comment related to my post and it's points, we'd all love to hear it.  Stating that the sky is blue does not address the fact the ground is hard as rock from lack of rain.

You do not have sufficient warm bodies on the server to randomly add more people to a guild raid.
