Title: Setting up the Client
Post by: zomgDanyelle on June 09, 2010, 11:14:23 pm
So apparently some people are having issues even getting into the game. Especially when going between clients. So here's this, yet another guide i wrote up. Enjoy and whatever. ;)

Titanium/SoF

1. Install the client (must be a fresh disc install of Titanium or SoF)

2. Find eqhost.txt

3. Ensure it says the following:
Code:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

4. Make sure eqhost.txt is read only by right clicking and clicking properties and by checking the "Read-Only" option then hitting the "Apply" button and closing it.

5. Find eqgame.exe and right click and select "send shortcut to desktop" option. Find shortcut on desktop and right click and select "properties". Find the "Target" line and add "patchme" (without quotes) to the end (for example mine is "C:\everquest\eqgame.exe patchme" no quotes) Then hit apply and close. You're done!

SoD:

This is the EXACT same as above except:

1. Make sure it is the Steam version of SoD.

2. Make sure you change eqhost.txt to read:
Code:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5999
instead.

Well that should basically be it. If you're still having problems i'll see what i can answer for you. Have fun :)

Updated this since SoD works with the original Login Server now. Enjoy :)

I remember this being mentioned before but do you have to do anything special when you switch clients other than what you just said above?

New Spellfile I know and of course readd all custom maps and other EZ files.

Do UIs have to be redone?  I thought someone said that there was a way to transfer the old ones over.  Change the name of the file or something.

i remember it being mentioned that UIs dont carry over, have to make a good set up on your character and then can copy/ rename for all your other chars.

I'm having a problem trying to add "patchme" without quotes to the end of the target line of the shortcut for eqgame.exe.

It gives me an error saying:

"The name 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest\eqgame.exe patchme' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and the file name are correct."

it should look exactly like this...

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

.....quotes and all.

Starting over on a new Win 7 computer and pulled out my Steam UF verision file that i d/led a while back but never used and when I unzipped it (now don't laugh) I can't figure out how to install it!!

There doesn't seem to be a setup.exe file - just an Everquest folder with all the files in it.

Is this the wrong one?  I am confused.  Please someone help.

Thanks!

Rob :)

I don't think you install it. Its just a folder/directory with lots of files. Need to run the correct exe file to start up the client.

You can have many copies or clones of this folder, one for each server you play on, or each character you play on.

Above post explain which exe to use and how to use them.

Some people will tell you to run each character from its own folder.
Misconception that will do jack and shit for you.
However you might have a gimp computer for how many you box and want to see all the "ohhh ahhhh" on your main. So using 2 folders (1 for main 2nd for all others) where only one gets to see the pretties and the others do not.
