in case you have no idea what the title means here is a quick run down:

I exported the male wood elf model/texture using 3dRipperDX and then I took it into 3d studio max where I cleaned the model and rigged it using the standard Biped rig. Then I exported the rig to Motionbuilder where I hooked up my kinect to do real time motion capture and then had to map to the woodelf.

I was using my wireless mouse and television to do the capturing since my wife / kid had left for the evening (FREEDOM!). I've attached some pictures as a proof of concept.

What do I plan on doing with this? I don't know. I can easily capture motion onto the rig and animate EQ chars doing things... heck maybe even in a rendered environment like the the 3d fan art thread? Really I have no idea.

Nice I tried to self teach myself how to use 3Dstudio max a while back when i was attempting to make meshes for Freedom Force. I gave up tho, lol. I wasn't too bad at making skins with Photo Shop, here's the only one i was able to find that i saved.

Awesome another reason to jump wildly about in front of my kinect's while my children,friends,family,the family dogs,and neighbors look at me and point laugh and take pictures. I could see this coming in handy during long raids where half the raid is drunk and the other half might as well be because they have been up for 27 hours!!! In all seriousness this is a neat concept and some day will be implemented (i beleive) just hopefully not too soon i like to sit and relax and play lol

Whatzizface omfg I read the first lines and died laughing... I don't know how many relatives have sat over my shoulder trying to understand why i even log in... ex wife used to throw phones from across the room, and delete my shi* when i was at work.

I can totally relate to the ".... hide that shi* and pull up banking online ASAP!!" crap covers we have to use to hide what we do. Somehow ive managed to keep a girlfriend for 3 years now, that knows i play, and will say to me" oh... your playing, i can let you go..." I tell her everynight how much I love her. Other then her and my best friend's no one else understands my sick addiction.

Someone got links to those silly comics we used to see about EQCrack etc...? Would be a great thread to start again, so we can all laugh a bit and look silly for the fights we get into sometimes.

this is pretty cool.
So in theory, would you be able to replace the existing EQ animations with self made ones? New swinging attacks for weapons and such?

If the bipeds can be exported as an anm8 format... Maybe.  But itd be client side.  And very unlikely.
