I'm the proud owner of a shaman box with 4.0 and Kraken, but is this all he's good for? 

I'm wondering what you shaman boxxers do outside of 4.0 click and Kraken refreshes.  Anything?
All my guy does outside of that is hand in t3/t4 tokens and look ugly.

Also, any comments/info on the t4 pet?

Without pet affinity, the pet dies too fast to be of any use whatsoever...  The shaman does come in handy for Kern the Destroyer, but other than that, HP buff and Kraken is his thing.

I got the t4 pet last night.  Bummer.
He died so quickly in a t4 fight that I'm not even sure what killed him.

His hits were averaging 1500ish, though.  Maybe he'd be useful for.. uh.. single pull ldon kills.

Seems like you're right - Pet Affinity would grant shamans some much needed utility.
