Title: Basic Beginner's Guide/FAQ
Post by: zomgDanyelle on April 06, 2010, 04:33:03 am
Figured i would set this up =D

First let me just say this isn't so much a "guide" as it is a list of answers to questions that are asked basically 500 times a day. ;) I'll try to keep it updated if need be etc and people of course are welcome to add to it. It's my hope that having this here and directing people to it (as well as the rest of the guide's section) should hopefully save everyone from the dangers of carpal tunnel for typing all this out so many times a day lol.

There are a few accompanying screenshots as well FYI. (I use SoD client AND ,for some of them a custom UI, so inb4 "why are the item windowz so weird????" there's your answer)

Guide "Patch" notes:
EDIT: Color coded it so it's a bit easier to read. "Qs" are now red and "As" are now green. :)
EDIT: Added stat food/drink screenshots.
EDIT 4/8/10:Fixed a question. Though the answer was correct i found a much easier method. This question specifically was the SoF/SoD human models question. If you used that "patch" i would suggest you reread it. Added a couple questions. Also changed the name. This post has also reached it's max size limit. Any added info will be added to a post farther down. Thank you.
EDIT 6/9/10: Added a few more screenshots and questions.

NOTE!: This post is full up. Continue reading the FAQ by following ~~this link~~ (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=87.msg512#msg512)

Q. Where do i get my spells
A. In Surefall Glade and The Nexus there is a High Elf NPC named "Trainer". Her surname (the title underneath her name in parenthesis) states "Spell Scriber". In Surefall she is located near the bull's eye set up on the opposite side of the zone from the soul binder near the zone in from Qeynos Hills. In the Nexus she is located next to the banker. There is one in the CG and FG guilds as well but if you don't know about the spell scriber by the time you gain access to a guild i'm sorry but you're lost >.< lol Hailing her brings up the options to scribe your spells, train in meditiate, train your swimming, train in your bard skills or put one point in each of your tradeskills (to allow usage and skill ups)

Q. How do i get back from <insert zone name here> to Surefall?
A. (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a264/bobmcbean/EQ000640.jpg)

Q. Why am i not in Surefall? I'm in The Arena.
A. Check above answer. That charm is put into your inventory by default.

Q. What's the max level here?
A. 70

Q. Why am i seeing "Unknown Spell" effects?
A. You're missing the custom spell file. Follow these links:
If you use Titanium: Link here (http://www.ezserver.online/forums/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get2)
If you use Secrets of Faydwer: Link here (http://www.ezserver.online/forums/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get5)
Go to your Everquest directory and find the old "spells_us.txt" file and drag it somewhere safe. Now drop the file you just downloaded into your EQ directory. If you were already in Everquest you must completely exit the client and log back in for the changes to take effect.

Q. What is a spell file?
A. spells_us.txt is a text file that the client reads prior to entering the character select screen. It's a list of numbers and letters indicating different spell fields and effects. The spell file only allows connection with the spells in the database (you can't have one without the other) and usage of spells. It has absolutely no effect on in game graphics for spells.

Q. What is the difference between the Titanium and Secrets of Faydwer spell files?
A. Titanium is limited to having 9999 spells in the file. SoF is not restricted to that number of spells. In a addition some spell fields (the numbers that tell the client the spells effects) were apparently removed between the Titanium and Secrets of Faydwer clients. The spells still read the same and have the same effects/graphics however the client reads them differently. All you need to know is the differences are not visual and you won't see them from a player point of view. P.S. you CANNOT mix spell files (I.E. using the SoF file in a Titanium client)

Q. Why are there humans in South Ro/Oasis etc?
A. If you're using SoF/SoD these zones will not boot their models properly meaning only globaly booted models will show (player character models/ alligators/ elementals etc) There are a couple ways to fix this. The easiest being changing the mobs booted in the zonename_chr.txt files. It seems even though you are using the old zone files it uses the new zone's _chr file for model booting (as opposed to the old one). Thus your best bet would be to make sure the following files look as shown below:
(Note: SoF only has sro_chr.txt and nro_chr.txt by default, SoD doesn't have any of these. If your client doesn't already have one of these files just open up Notepad and copy these down and name each one appropriately.)
sro_chr.txt:

Fixed: Snakes work now to.
If you used the old GlobalLoad.txt fix for this bug simply open the file and erase what YOU put inside. Be careful what you take out as it may cause some models to no longer display or worse yet break your game.

Q. What does CG/FG stand for?
A. Caster's Guild/ Fighter's Guild respectively.

Q. How do i gain access to CG/FG
A. You must be level 70 to begin the quests. After you obtain level 70 speak to Hyacinthe (Caster's Guild) or Melwithe (Fighter's Guild) in the Nexus to begin. Follow the following links for guides/walkthroughs:
Overall Guide thread: Link here (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=13.0)
Caster's Guild Quest: Link Here (http://eq.wico.cc/html/26_caster_quest.html)
Fighter's Guild Quest: Link Here (http://eq.wico.cc/html/27_fighter_quest.html)
Walkthrough Video by Hazard: Link Here (http://www.vimeo.com/9006769)
Have fun! =D

Q. How do i do <insert epic number here>
A. 1.0 is bought free from Epic Vendor in Surefall Glade, The Nexus and both guild halls. Epic Vendor also provides the quests for 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0 and 4.0. The 4.0 you likely will not be seeing for a LONG time so ignore it for now.
Guide Thread: Link Here (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=12.0)
You must be level 70 to start 1.5-3.0. The quests are custom and are not the same as Live. Terrorantula/Quillmane for the 1.5 are NOT the same as they are on Live so please don't zone into South Ro at level 50 asking where Terror is then being surprised when you get 1 rounded. You've been warned. 1.5-2.0 epics are the same as they are on Live. NONE of the epics are Lore so dual wielding classes can do it 2 times for 2 3.0s (for Rangers you can do it 3 times for 2 swords and a 3.0 bow. You can only get the epic bow at 3.0, not 1.5-2.5) The clickies on 2.5-3.0 are different than the 1.5-2.0 so you can get your 3.0 then go back and get a 1.5/2.0 for the clickies if you so desire (some classes may be advised to do this actually)

Q. How do you upgrade a charm?
A. You must buy the Noobie Charm V2 off the Noobie Vendor and then find a Charm Upgrade from ldon levels 2-6 (VERY rare). Turn in the noob charm with the upgrade for it's corresponding charm. To continue to upgrade it you must find the same upgrade as your current charm. The charm's go up to lvl 50 (only up to 25 from ldons. 26-50 are from T3 raid content) The charm types are as follows:
Guardian: A Tank charm.
Oracle: a healer charm. Has a healing focus.
Sorcerer: A Spell DPS charm. Has a Spell damage increase focus.
Brawler: A Melee DPS charm. Not working as intended right now but focus is supposed to increase melee/bow DPS.
There is also an Ultimate Charm made by combining level 50 versions of all 4 charms together. (Screenshot in the continuation of the guide below)

Q. How do ldons work here?
A. ldons are not instanced here. There are 6 currently existing levels.
1. The Spider Den (mirc)
2. The Chambers of Eternal Affliction (mmcd)
3. The Royal Observatory (takd)
4. The Arena of Chance (ruji)
5. The Cauldron of Lost Souls (guka)
6. The Morbid Laboratory (mirh)
ldon1 drops no cards and has no named. As for the rest, all cards minus the Illusionist cards can drop on all levels except ldon1, but certain cards are more common on certain floors and to expect them elsewhere is foolish.
ldon2=feet/hands
ldon3=arms/head
ldon4=bracers/legs(bracers have an increased drop rate since you need two bracers)
ldon5=chest
ldon6=illusion
Points are now handled through the Gatekeeper by handing him certain objects found in the ldon floors. The first is the ldon point coins. There are two types, "Ldon Credits 10" (Trash) and "Ldon Credits 50" (Named), they net you 10 and 50 credits respectively obviously. You can also trade in armor cards (except illusion cards) and charm upgrades for 10% of their purchase value (feet/hands=30 points, arms/head=40 points, bracers/legs=50 points, chest=60 points, charm upgrades=200 points.) For what those cards cost to buy back simply multiply those points by 10 (feet/hands=300 points, arms/head=400 points, bracers/legs=500 points, chest/illusion=600 points, charm upgrades=2000 points.) Ldon levels 2-6 also have 2 2.0 pages per floor.

Q. Where do i get maps?
A. http://www.mapfiend.net/ (http://www.mapfiend.net/)

Q. What benefits come from the guilds?
A. CG:
Casting Skills maxed and over capped. Casting Specialty Set. Stat Drink and the CG pet ring:
If you have a pet you can now also hail him to buff you (same as Nexus/Surefall buff bot) and to equip your pet with:
FG:
Melee combat skills maxed and overcapped. Stat food and clicky rez stone:

Q. Can you give those CG fireswords to any pet or just your own?/Where do i buy the CG fireswords for my pet?
A. You never actually get your hands on those swords. When you become CG flagged hailing your pet brings up the option to equip one of those swords. clicking the saylink forces him to equip one, clicking it again forces it to equip 2. So no you cannot give it to any other pets and you don't buy it anywhere.

Q. Who can use the CG pet ring?
A. See the above image of the ring.

Q. What does RoA stand for?
A. Ring of the Ages

Q. What do you do for RoA?
A. You must obtain level 70. After that you may unequip all your armor and hail the RoA NPC in Surefall. Hailing her gets you a no-stat RoA rank 0. Hand her the no stat RoA (or the RoA you want to upgrade) and she will delevel you and you must level to 70 again, she hands you the RoA back upgraded when she delevels you. There is a max rank of 100. The ring has no required level until rank 51. Eventually you need to use tradeskills to level. Apparently the rank 100 clicky absorbs 9500 dmg.

UPDATE!~

Q. How do i organize spells?
A. More than likely if you are asking this it's because you just scribed your spells and they are a mess in your spell book and you can't find what you want to memorize. If this is the case you don't NEED to organize your spells. Simple right click an empty spell gem on your task bar and it sorts the spells you have by category >type>level. As seen in the screenshot below:

Q. What is the lowest level that can group with <insert level here>
A. To find the lowest level a person can group with simply take 2/3rds their level. For the highest level someone can group with take their level plus half their level. As a tidbit of info as well the lowest level a level 70 can group with is 47. Also keep in mind the low level player will not get experience from a kill if the high level person doesn't either. So keep that in mind before you start screaming that the numbers must be wrong.

Q. What's the minimum level to enter Plane of Fire?
A. 47

Q. What's the max level you can be in Dulak's Harbor?
A. 61 you will no longer be able to zone in at or you will be booted out if you're already in the zone when you ding.

Q. Does the mage spell Raging Servant or the Beastlord spell Beastial Empathy work here?
A. No. By default those pets are not sourced into the database (for some reason) and Hunter has not added them by hand yet. If you try to cast the spell you will get the following message:
The spells themselves work and are in the game however because the pets either aren't in the "NPC_Types" table or the "Pets" table in the database (one or the other or both) they can't be spawned because they simply don't exist. Of course Hunter has the ability to fix this at anytime ;) but trust me it's not that much of an issue here so i wouldn't worry about it.

Q. Is ooc server wide here?
A. Yes as is /auction. On every Emu server /ooc is a server wide channel due to the previous lack of correct implementation of the general chat channels. SoD/SoF still have issues with chat channels on some servers (EZ included) but they work for Titanium. Also every server has the ability to make /ooc and /auction server wide or not server wide however here they ARE server wide so there ya go lol.

Q. How do i use melody?
A. /melody now works properly. Set it up as follows "/melody 1 2 3 4"

Q. How do you get bots on this server?
A. You don't. Bots are not used on EZ server. Some people may respond to this question and tell you that you get them in Plane of Time. This is a misconception as the bots/mercs they are referring to are npcs that act exactly like pets (because they are pets. "Hiring" one activates a quest script that forces your toon to use the "#makepet" command to summon these pets from the database without a spell.) and are only available in that zone.

Q. Where do i turn in/do with <insert any of the bag of platinum rewards given by noobie quests>
A. You don't turn it in to anyone. You sell it for platinum just like any other vendor trash =D

Q. What tier comes after <insert zone here>
A. Tiers are as follows:
Plane of Time A>LDoN zones>Qvic>Tacvi>T1 Plane of Dragons (Grassy section of Plane of Storms)>T2 Plane of Dragons (Desert section of Plane of Storms)>T3 Plane of Gods (Halls of Honor A)>T4 Plane of Gods (Plane of Sky)
Contrary to popular belief Qvic is NOT T1, Plane of Dragons is (AKA Plane of Storms on Live)

Q. What armor drops where?
A. Armor drops by "What zone they're in now=What zone they were in on Live"
Field of Bone=custom
Oasis/Paludal Caverns/Mistmoore Castle=Old Sebilis/Thurgadin
Dulak=Vex Thal
Bastion of Thunder=Plane of Time B
Plane of Time A=Tacvi
Ldon=Citadel of Anguish
Qvic=Dreadspire
Tacvi onwards=custom

Q. How do i turn off /melody?
A. /melody off

Q. Where does the item Alacaramba is looking for drop in FoB?
A. An item with a gun icon. Off giant scorpions in the pit.

Q. Can someone link the CG/FG ring(s)?
A. All it is is a no stat ring with a port clicky to CG/FG respectively.

Q. How many toons can i box here?
A. There is no IP limit so you can box as many toons as your computer can handle.

Q. How do you open up the Discipline window?
A. Alt+C

That's all i got atm =D. Feel free to add to it and direct noobs here ;)

Have fun EZ!

A+ new player guide. like the detail
reading brought me back to when i started on EZ server. think i asked just about everyone of those questions at one time or another.

Title: Re: Basic Beginner's Guide
Post by: zomgDanyelle on April 06, 2010, 06:32:28 pm
Thanks! =D

It's gonna be "ever expanding" as there's a lot of commonly asked questions i missed due to forgetting about them etc lol and of course as i said everyone is free to reply with more Q&As and i'll edit them into the first post for easy access (i'll keep a "changelog" of sorts at the top of the thread.)

Hoping to use this to help make noobs aware of the forums/website (since they're very useful tools) and to stop the spam of the same questions day in and day out. It was either this or make /ooc hotkeys XD lol

So promote this section of the forums as much as you guys can ^_^ lol

Nice work!

Been asking for someone to post something like this for a while in Suggestions.

Thanks!

FAQ continuation:

New questions will be put here. "patch" log will still be added to first post so if need be i'll move some questions down here. Enjoy EZ!

Q. What is the stat cap with AAs maxed?
A. 355=stats 550=resists. Certain classes get even more AAs for example casters can get int/wis cap raised to 405 with max AAs. Also remember some buffs raise the cap of stats.

Q. What are the negative mana augs for on the Noobie Vendor?
A. Mana cap for upper tier people using the Titanium Client. People using SoF or SoD do not have this mana cap and do not need those augs.

Q. What level do mage spell pets become better than 1.0 pet?
A. 65.

Q. What's the command for autofiring?
A. /autofire... lol

Q. How do i get the buff bot to buff my pet?
A. CG/FG guilds and the Pet Affinity AA.

Q. Can anyone link RoA 100 pl0x?
A. (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a264/bobmcbean/RoA100.jpg)

Q. How does one get the Epic 4.0?
A. At the moment quite simply YOU don't It's 1 mob in T4 that can crit for 250k+ and has 170k+ hp regen. I think it'll be awhile before the average joe on EZ is running around with one of these babies so please don't ask for help on them.

Q. Whats the difference between Titanium and SoF/SoD?
A. Check this thread. Link here. (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=439.0)

Q. Where's a good place to get money?
A. See thread here with ideas: Link here. (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=406.0)

Q. How do i set up my EQ client?
A. Well believe it or not i hear this one occasionally. Not exactly frequent but meh. Obviously usually pertaining to switching from one client to another. Check the thread here: Link here. (http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=463.0)

Q. Pic of Ultimate Charm please?
A. (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a264/bobmcbean/Ultimatecharm.jpg)

Q. Why won't my pet take any items?
A. If you're in Surefall or the Nexus that's why, you can't give pets items (except the CG pet swords due to the forced equip script used for them) in those zones.

This may be a stupid question but...

When you are doing your RoA and you remove your armor when putting in for the initial no-stat ring, can your then after receiving it, re-wear your armor?  What level armors can you re-wear then, if any? Are the high end armors level specific?  Or do you have to get all new gear during your RoAing?

Title: Re: Basic Beginner's Guide/FAQ
Post by: Lzert on April 28, 2010, 09:25:46 am
The armor up through Dulak can be reworn at level 1.  Armor you get from custom zones after Dulak will have a required level of 65 or 70.

So it's good to have a full set of Dulak armor in the bank for re-leveling.

I have a question i have not seen on here yet but would love to know about. Where do augs drop? Like where and at what level do you need to farm them? A nooby question i know but when you have not played EQ in about 4 years and you are just now getting back in the swing of things its alot to remember at one time :P Plus having certain zones and such customed its alot to learn as well.

well i know PoFear drops some lifetap augs for weapons. Useful for people who aren't warriors basically.

Post by: zolton32 on April 28, 2010, 04:37:44 pm
Thats good to know that fear drops some. Kind if hard to solo and get gear if you do not multibox. Which is why i'm trying to find some places to go farm to help beef up my characters a bit. Got my mage and warrior to level 70 and both are wearing full dulak gear with the few drops i could find in bot to help out some. But it be nice to get every little bit of help i can get to do their cg/fg quests. Got my mages 1.5 epic thanks to some players and i got all of the cg parts except the 4 king chest card drops which is very hard to solo and generally even harder to find some one to help do ldon runs. So looking to make it easier to do these by getting some augs to help out. So any info is apreciated as right now i have not got a clue :P

Send me a tell in game on one of my characters. i dont mind going through BoT for a bit to get you gear. or some PoTime if you prefer. Soon as you get a bit of gear to solo the zones it makes getting alt gear easier too.

I am in the same boat.  Need to drastically upgrade but probably not on often enough.  For all intentsive purposes, I am a noob - been so long since i played live and even then I didn't get so much into the endgame.

So if that offer applies to all Reed, I will look for you too if that's ok.  ;D

Is there a specific mob in fear i should be looking for and killing?

Anyone know the answer to this question?  Is it completely random, or are there specific mobs that drop weapon augs?

i always just go for the named ones, i know they for sure drop augs, and sometimes random mobs might drop something

OK, here's another noob question: on the EZ Server, can we have 2 different players playing on different computers using the same ip address at the same time?

Played EQ 1999 til WoW came out - this is so nostalgic and fun! Thanks for all your hard work.   :)

Thanks so much for all the info!  Question I have is that I got the Unknown Spell because I didn't have the custom file, and after I got the custom file, the spell does show its name (Aura of Insight) in my spellbook, but is listed under Unknown Spell DB 235-5 when I right click my spell gems and get the popup menu.  Is there any fix for this?

Well i haven't heard this before so i don't have a solution ready to hand to you but give me some more info.

What spell are you scribing?
Do you get the benefits of the spell even though you have this error?
If this was on a spell that was already cast on you, have you tried clicking it off and recasting it?

It's Aura of Insight, level 55 bard spell.  I don't know if I can cast it yet, as I'm just level 30.  But basically it went from being called Unknown Spell to Aura of Insight, except that in the spell gem pop-up, its categorized as Unknown DB String.

That's not a custom spell that the Bard's lvl 55 Aura from Prophecy of Ro. It works differently than a spell or song (as do all auras) and are not yet compatible with Emu. There's nothing we can do about it until the Emu team gets the Auras working.

Q:  How do I get the buff bots to buff my pet?
A:  Buy Pet Affinity AA and hail the -RAID- buff bot in FG / CG Hall.

as a new player on this server, that was a really, really helpful list of answers, thank you!   I do still have a couple of questions and thought I would post them here if thats ok

How do AA work with ring of the ages? I understand you don't lose your AA and (I assume) items in your bank...do they still work at level 1? Or do you still have them but they aren't usable until a certain level

Is there anywhere to find loot/drop information?  We got up to Dulak and saw a lot of arms/gloves/legs but wondering about the other slots...do chests drop off the named?

Is there custom raid content on this server?  Or is the custom content designed for a 6 man group?  How far can you progress with just 6 people?

Same with spell information...what exactly does the shaman 1.0 epic clickie do for example :)

And speaking of 6 man groups, is there anything we should know about what makes a viable group in higher content? (role info...CC needed? slow? warr tank only? cler heals only?)  (I don't care if our group is ideal, just viable...I assume there is a best class for the job but curious if say a knight tank can cut it later on, even if it may be a lot harder)

How do the tiers (PoTA>LDON>Qvic etc) fit into the epic 1.5/2.0/3.0 quests, with the FG/CG quests, and with RoA?  And what about AA?  I'm really just wondering if there is any advice on a progression path for a single group that wants to play together, and what the general requirements are the different tiers (for instance, level to 70 first without worrying about AA, or better to stop and grind AA in the 50s? need 2.0's and 1500 AA to handle certain zones?)

thanks again for all the sweet information in one post

Dany could probably answer most of these questions for you right now, but im slowly implementing a Wiki for EZ Server. I have a post with link to the homepage already in another thread.

Each custom zone has a complete set of gear for each class. All the way up to Dulak's Harbor the gear has no level requirement to wear, BoT and Potimea both require you to be level 60+ to wear the gear. So if you plan to ROA use the Dulak gear to boost HP.

PoTimeA+ is designed to be "Raid" content, however with gear over that tier you can roll it pretty easily with a couple characters. Using gear appropriate for that zone though, you will find it challenging and fun with a full group. The raid window is broke, so the larges group of character you can really have together working correctly is 6members. However you could have multiple groups together and let corpses rot enough for everyone to access loot.

Lets see, shaman clickie is HP buff, druid clicky is regen. Aside from those all other effects from Epics should be the same as live.

Realistically, a six man group can do any zone in this game when created correctly.
CC is broken, slows are broken, Mez is broken, charm is removed.... most classes are completely useless/ for flavor. You can make the best out of any group you create, but "best" or more dependable will be war/war/war/clr/clr/clr.... or war/war/clr/clr/rng/rng

progression will really start at dulak < BoT < PoTimeA < LDoN < Qvic < Tacvi < PoDragons T1 side < PoDragons T2 side < HoH

AAs are easily attained, and i dont worry to much about them... gear is really more imporant. However dont completely ignore them either. They will come as you work your way through FG/CG, LDoN, BoT, PoTimeA, etc.... Will likely be maxed quickly.

1. I think i put the AA thing in there but in case i didn't. You do keep your AAs and any innate abilities (increased strength, hp, dps etc) still work at level 1, casting abilities i think have level requirements somewhere in the 50s area but that all depends on what AA you're using.

2. There is no current loot/drop look up location but Reeds wiki will handle that soon. For now just know that until PoTime chest/legs and every other slot drops randomly off trash and if you aren't getting what you want it's due to shit luck not because it doesn't drop. Remember you're competing for your classes loot versus 13 other classes all dropping off the same mobs. PoTime Chest/legs drops off names while other slots drop off trash. Raid content has it's own specific set ups (quested armor.)

3. Yes there are raid content. Level zones>PoTime>LDoN>Qvic>Tacvi>T1 (PoStorms/PoDragons>T2(PoStorms/PoDragons)>T3 (HoHonor)>T4(PoSky). You'll be lucky to see beyond T2 as a standard player tbh, just like the uber raid content on Live.

4. I'm..not really sure what you're asking. Rephrase please.

5. RoA is a "Do-it-when-you-damn-well-feel-like-it" quest. Some like to do it earlier, some later. Some classes it's good to have, other classes who the fuck cares. It's a matter of class and opinion. AA shouldn't be touched until level 70. Once level 70 burn them to the ground in PoFear/BoT/or LDoN (you'll spend plenty of time in LDoN) you'll get them pretty quick and soon will join the hoards of people bitching about 5k AAs unspent ;P. CG/FG is a during LDoN/Pre Qvic quest line, start it After PoTime. 1.5 ties to PoTime (duh), 2.0 ties to LDoN (duh), 2.5 lies inbetween LDoN and Qvic (requires FG or CG to access the zone) and 3.0 is a Qvic area item (Requires Qvic tokens. 4.0 is a T4 item but like i said you'll be lucky to see T3 so i would honestly forget i even mentioned 4.0. Besides unless something has changed, no one has even gotten a 4.0 yet so...

with that much healing, the SK will do just fine.  It will just take you a long time to kill mobs - make sure the druid and shm are both using dot focus.

Ran a quick update on this. Haven't done so in awhile and felt i needed to. RoA 100 was linked, SoF/SoD humans in Oasis etc patch was updated (got snakes to work so if you use that patch then please recopy the contents of the code boxes to their respective files in your EQ directory) and a couple more questions were added. Will be updating more later.

P.S. It has come to my attention yesterday that some people don't know how to scroll down in threads >.< meaning the later half of the FAQ that was too big to fit into the main post may be lost to those people. I'm thinking about just hosting the guide as a site somewhere and linking to it from the main post to save us of this problem. If/when I do i will edit the main post with the link and remove the large content. I may do the same with the epic links thread as well due to the large amount of images. Incidentally about that i will NOT be posting 4.0 links (though i do have a couple) until i have Crab's permission. These are their items earned from their hard work in top tier content and i won't blow that away by posting the items for all to see without his say so.

P.P.S. It has also come to my attention that some people may find me rather douchey for constantly saying "read the forums" rather than just "answering their questions in /ooc". You guys have to realize, the things in here are asked 5000000 freaking times a day. It gets old typing the same thing into /ooc over and over and over again. So i made these guides (those of them that i DID make, and i link to and reference those that i didn't) so that people can easily answer all of their questions and be set to go and enjoy EZ while saving the rest of us from carpal tunnel. Contrary to popular belief (and contrary to what some people purposefully say in /ooc just to get people to send me tells...and it works...) i am not a GM here, i have absolutely no authority on EZ or EQEmu what so ever. I simply do these things because i'm helpful and proactive but i didn't HAVE to do anything, i didn't HAVE to make this guide or any others. I didn't HAVE to spend hours of MY day doing these guides to get a response of "LOL it's more fun to ask in /ooc though and i'm lazy as hell". So i apologize if saying to read the forums makes me out to be a douche but i stand by it.

Anyway, enjoy your time on EZ! =D and thank you Hunter for a wonderful server :)

Got another question to be added to the FAQ next time it gets updated. I've read most of the forums but haven't seen anyone talk about the Waypoint NPCs.

What are the Waypoint NPCs for? You hail them and they talk about credits, platinum, and buffs. Do you give platinum for credits that you can use to cash in for buffs? Are they same buffs as the Buff Bot in Nexus?

Thanks,
Amerzel

You give the Waypoint plat, and it stores them in a bank-like way; you can withdraw it again at any point if you wish.

You can use the deposited plat to get Buff Bot buffs, or to create a group instance of some zones.

There's apparently still some issues with Waypoint zeroing out your account balance. Though I haven't had that issue myself yet. Just don't go depositing your life's savings in there is all I'm saying.

I don't get the buff part, are the buffs different then the ones I can get for free by just hailing the buff bot?

The Buffs arent different, but they are more convenient as you can get them in the zone that you are instancing.

While killing in PoTime - Rather than porting back to Surefall/Nexus and hailing the buff bot. Then porting back into PoTime. Then Zoneing into your instance. You can just buy the buffs from the waypoint npc in the zone you are killing in for a mere 70pp.

You do keep your AAs and any innate abilities (increased strength, hp, dps etc) still work at level 1, casting abilities i think have level requirements somewhere in the 50s area but that all depends on what AA you're using.

It seems that most innate combat enhancements like Spell Casting Fury, Combat Fury, and Critical Affliction don't start working until or near 50 (I had a spell crit when I was 48, and I thought it was a little weird, as I thought I wouldn't see one until 50). But (on my ranger at least) I noticed that things like Entrap and Innate Camo worked from level 1.

I'd like to think things like CS/CA are working at level 1, but I'm happy with Entrap and IC, lol.  ;D

I guess , for the most part you just have to test them once you de-level to find out which ones work for what classes.

Might be worth putting something in about Pet and Epic's.

I didn't know until I saw in OOC one day that you can give your pet Epic 1.0's from the vendor.  You must be outside Surefall or Nexus to do this and every time you change zones you need to give your pet fresh epic's.  The epic's of choice seem to be Fiery defender and Ragebringer...the healing proc of Fiery Defender in particular is very useful and can in most cases keep my BST and War alive on all bosses in PoTime up to Dragon Slave without any cleric healing or War disciplines (12.5k HP war).

A. CG/FG guilds and the Pet Affinity AA.`

I didnt know members of the FG got a pet, thought it was just CG?

am i missing something here?

It has nothing to do with where the pet came from, only which buff bot you are able to use.  The raid buff bot in the cg/fg casts group spells, so they hit your pet if you have the pet affinity AA.

Hi,

bumping an old but most useful thread with the following questions.

I've noticed the spawn time is 10 minutes on the customed zones for trash and named mod, and 1 hour on Naggy/Vox. Is this the same on the non-modified zone ? Especially wondering on the old world to PoP zones, if the named bosses (kunark dragons, to PoP gods) are also on the same pattern ?
I try and check every now and then on those but more often than not they are down, and I prefer leveling elsewhere than camping at the moment. I can't be sure if they are still on week cycle or just farmed day in, day out. Given that I have only seen some Kunark dragons up (which interest noone but poor old eqclassic addict me), but no velious named up; I suspect they are still on week or 3days basis.
This is EZ server, and I'm sure it would fit the them to have those old mobs on hourly basis. I mean it would be nowhere like game breaking in terms of loots, and well, trivializing their farming is in line with rest, isn't it ?

So anyone with a confirmation on that, would be very grateful

Thanks
Zeval
