Title: Brawler Charm (a fixing tale, includes pictures!)

So while EZ was down today i got bored enough to load up my "fuck around" server that i mess on when...well..EZ's down ;P

Well i remembered while i was on here about the "Brawler's Charm catastrophe" so i decided i would take the time to fix it for everyone ^_^

I loaded EZ's spell file into the editor and checked the fields. It turns out the new fix wasn't working because you were missing ONE number per spell >.< So i fixed those and as a final act i wiped my server's spell table clean and sourced in EZ's new spell file (with my changes) and added the max Brawler Focus (from charm 50) to a random item (Gnoll Ribcage) and made it usable in the charm slot:

I then "/log on" and went to work in Paw as on my test server it's been revamped as a 1.5 zone so the mobs proved adequate to test the focus' efects. I killed 1 trash mob and one named with the focus on and then 1 trash mob and the same named with it off:

So as you can see max hit and dps HAS increased so the effect works as it should with the changes i made, The reason i'm posting this rather than just submitting this to Hunter is this: Hunter i think is fed up with the Brawler charm as it is ;P We don't wanna submit this and have him implement it then have people say the dps increase isn't enough lol so it's public opinion time!!! Do you guys think the above dps/max hit increases are worth it on a rank 50 charm (that was the rank 50 focus) or do you want it upped. Also be reasonable don't say "yes" just because the parse doesn't show me hitting for 100k dmg ;P

If you guys say yes i'll submit the SoF/Titanium spell files to Hunter now. If not i'll take suggestions and take another look at it.

I submitted directly to hunter what I thought would fix the brawler charm but it is still broken and I know why:

1) Change it to Worn Effect (Done)
2) Added Cleave 6 to Focus I and increases by 20 each focus level upto 5 (Done)
3) Add DMG Mod Effect 185 to Slot 12 with min/max dmg to 10% increasing by 10 each level upto 5 (incomplete)

#3 is what the community can all agree is what will make brawler's charm worthwhile. Cleave isnt so important because we already have an easy to acquire Cleave.

Well the way you had it set up was Cleave+dmg mod. Cleave's effect take up 11/12 available spell slots. The final line was the damage mod.

As shown in the parses above i critical'd way more with it than without it (Cleave) i also hit much harder both crit and non-crit with it than without it (dmg mod) What you were missing was you set the Min stat but not the Max field. Max and Min should have been equal (unless you wanted variety).

Worn, like i told you ;P, though is an item effect not a spell effect. Spells will be spells it's how they are added to the item that makes them worn or not worn (as seen below)

Also guys keep in mind these parses were, obviously, not taken on EZ server. these max hits etc should not be an expectation of what you guys would see with the focus on as PCs on EZ hit much harder than that toon did (which also incidentally was a monk). These parses only show what you should expect as far as percentage increases go, not max hits etc

Cool calculations, bro.

The charm increased DPS by 70% on Dany's server, and with Femme's suggestion (lol I'm winging it, no idea wtf he means by "DMG 185"), another 50%. That's... ugh... um... +120% MOAR DAMAGE? Amirite?

185 is the spell field for "Damage Mod". He was referencing the dmg mod ;P

Danyelle without a doubt has the correct way Brawler's Focus should work: Raising Crit mod + DMG Mod which are obviously shown on her parses.

If you feel you got it right, maybe you should send it to Hunter so he can have a look at it and add it the spell file or mod spell file id 9985-9989 which are the Brawler Focus I - V

Hopefully Hunter will look at this and take your code :) I feel we are getting very close to a functioning Brawler's Charm

It seems people like the outcome so yeah i think i'm gonna submit it. I'll be submitting it to Hunter in 3 hours. So anyone that feels this should be re-modified speak up or shut up ;P

on an unrelated note, i would like to talk to you about your little private play server. was actually interested in setting one up. read the EQEmu guides, wouldn't mind talking to someone (who isnt always working) about hardware stuff. mind if i PM ya about it?

Fixed now or not? Titanium Spell file might be more up to date than the SoF. You can tell by the name.zip now. What number did I miss on dmg mod?

Just a quick update. I had sent Hunter a pm with the spell lines for the Brawler focuses for Titanium/SoF so all he would have to do is copy paste, but then i remembered he pays more attention to his email and the pm probably got lost ('m such an idiot some times lol) so i just sent him the same info again via email this time :)

So hopefully he got it and when he gets it put in the charm'll be fixed :). If you have any more broken spell suggestions don't be afraid to send me a PM or a /tell and i'll look into them in Hunter's stead and see what i can do to help take some of the weight off of his shoulders.

The latest one is April 7th 2010 - which is dated when you click the link on the left Panel...

Yes, some spells, discipline are not working as intended and they have been like that for a while. And will probably remain. Since it's an EMU thing and not EZ problem.

Hmm that's odd that it doesn't affect bow damage but the same effect on the shaman spell Champion does affect it.  They are both the same effect (185 Increase All Skills Damage Modifier by 10%).

Only diff I see offhand is one is casted buff and one is worn effect?

Last I heard Hunter is changing Brawler Charm amongst other things to the stackable version of dmg mod. Instead of the highest modifier taking effect, it will be a minor increase that stacks with itself, and will work like the damage modifier that already exists (just it will stack with itself.)

This modifier works with both ranged and melee (the previous one did, just didn't stack with itself.)
