ok, so i was trying to get the new spell file, and idk what i did but when i enter my log in info, it sends me to the server select, once i get there and hit enter it loads, but before my toons show up it kicks me back to the log in, anybody that can help me plz? thank you

Well 1st extract the spell file with winrar,7zip or regular program from windows into folder.

And as far as you getting booted it could be something to do with your resolution being different on your desktop than EQ options/size ?

Do you get ANY sort of error message at all ?

it was saying something about updating the patch or something but not saying it anymore its just bootin me back to the log in, idk what the F i did

i also tried to do a system restore to see if that fixed it, but it didnt effect the files i changed, so didnt help at all

You must have messed up your shortcut. If you patch to EQ LIVE or patch at all it will mess you up bigtime.

Right click eqgame.exe send short cut to desktop or quicklaunch and then right click properties and after the file put patchme in the shortcut so it will open w/o going to patcher it bypasses it.

If you opened patcher chances are it screwed up your whole install.

looks like i quit the game... i cant seem to even find eqgame.exe .... this blows i was just on too

you have to go into start menu>my computer>local disk C>program files>everquest.

Open EQ and in top of window type eqgame.exe,and then if u cant find it use search companion and type the file name.

yea i have the eq shortcut properties up but if i write "patchme" after the target: or the start in: it says not valid make sure that the folder exists and the patch is correct

You put patchme at the end of the target line after 1 space, outside any quotation marks, and without quotation marks around it.

ok well that let me open eq but when loading to toons it still kicks me back to log in, any other ideas?

anybody have any ideas? i kno it is annoying b.c. i dont kno a lot about all these files but plz help me out  :)

open your eqhost.txt file and copy contents for me here please.

If you have titanium that's correct
if you have SoD, that should be 5999, not 8.

i have titanium, i downloaded the spell file and saved to my desktop, opened it with winrar, and my trial period was up so i couldnt extract to the eq directory, so i just draged the file and put it in there, opened eq and logged in, at first it was saying something about update the patch then it stopped saying it and when i am at server select and hit enter to get to my toons, it starts to load and right before my toons load, it kicks me back to the log in. i tried restarting eq, my comp, and did a system restore, but nothing worked, so then i tried to take out the spell files from my eq directory and the same happened, i then put them back into the directory and tried to "restore previous versions" and there was nothing to restore the spell file. i am stuck on why i can open EQ but can not get to my characters. idk how putting a spell file in, or taking it out, can affect this. any other ideas?

just got message again, error 1017: cannot login to everquest server. you may need to re-run the update patch. repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of connectivity to the patch server. this is usually temporary.... this was on the eq that i opened the the one i always have used but the one that i was told to put "patchme" after the link from the post above

i got it, thanks everybody had to take a few xtra steps but im back online

Hey man go to cnet.com and download 7zip its free and dont expire incase u need to extract anything in the future. Ive had better luck out of it winrar always had trouble etc.

The trial period of WinRar nag box is harmless, just click ok or whatever and continue.

I don't know a single person that has ever paid for it, everyone just clicks through and it works fine.
