EZ Server

What would it take to add a chat channel to the page?

A place we can all go and BS while the sever id down or are at work...

Or maybe a link to an MIRC channel for EZ Server?

What do you think?

would be a pretty sweet idea. Could have a link on the left hand side of page with other links

server wide vent?...have you see what people talk about in ooc? :o  interesting idea for sure, but i can foresee disaster :D

Well I know most chat clients have filters.

If anyone starts with foul language, they can get kicked or banned from the chat room.  There are also logging capabilities that will allow Hunter or whoever is monitoring to see what was said to cause such a kick or ban.

I just figured it could be something to help us pass the time while the server is down and maybe even help take all the problem convos out of OOC in game.

Well I do not think anything "non-moderated" or even IN-GAME would help since that is what is the main problem with OOC as it is.  People say whatever they like and are getting banned for it.

This would be mainly for OUT-of game during server downtime but still would have some sort of moderation or we run into the same problem all over again. 

But at the very least, it could take the discussions out of OOC that have been getting people in all this trouble.

maybe if we got a small group of people to pledge a certain amount per month for a 50 person vent we could allow the pledgers to moderate or choose someone to moderate in their stead.

Most people use their own vents to organize their raids / guild chat, but sometimes it would be nice to pop in and just talk with random new people... eh eh ?

I used to pay for the Avalon vent, so i'm sure my wife wouldn't mind if I put up $10/month for another vent... anyone else think it's a good idea?

Hey... anything that makes our site and server better is a good idea to me.

Server wide vent? Thats gonna get out of control pretty fast.

Though I like the idea of a live chat on the side... I seen many sites with that. cool stuff

What ever happen to team speak? My dad used it all the time. He had is own channel for his guild, but he did not pay to use it. So dose that mean it was free?

Teamspeak is free "technically" for personnal use (we all know that EQ is personnal use)... New version (v3.0) is out now and pretty cool.. much better than previous.

SO why ventrilo when TeamSpeak is just as good and may be better cuz its free.

Does a channel have to be setup?  Can we have a link setup here to automatically log us on and take us to that channel?

Again the idea was for the Forums to have a place to chat when the server is down or people are at work etc...  Not for in game use.  Guilds can set that up on their own if they want to.

I never used it on my pc. Yes the channel needs to be set up. no you can't have a link from the form to the TS Channel i don't think. Some one tell me if i am wrong. But what Hunter can do is put a sticky up with the Channel Id and Pass and a how to connect guide. Its only for the forums. I would host the Channel but my internet is not all that good. It goes all the time.

I think you can use links with the new version but i am not sure I have never used that feature.

Teamspeak got 2 versions. one is server the other is client.
You edit your server ini file to create the basic of your channel. When you start the server for the first time, you get an "admin key" which you enter to your user the first time you connect to your server. This will give you channel admin. From the client you can setup all you want.

ya know I was hoping this was a thread about adding chat chans in game id love that cus i have lots of friends and were not in the same guild so was gonna give the chan info to people i know they can join it to talk to me (i talk to them sounds more correct lol)
