Title: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Dethundrel on April 14, 2011, 11:34:14 am With the recent changes in exp and the ability to use a group instance, where do you RoA now? I have been sticking to Paludal till 20, jumping to Dulak till 47 then moving onto PoFire. I do not have an uber toon PL'ing me. I run my Warrior, Ranger and Paladin all at the same time.
As you can imagine, after the jip in Exp, it's slow as hell and is very discouraging considering I'm not even at my 10th rank. Once I can get a few Anger augs for the war, I can use him to bust ass from 47-70, but without my RoA, I'm gettin my ass stomped on Qvic trash, so PoD is still a long ways away. My computer can only handle 3 boxing, so running extra toons to help really isn't an option. Since everyone can make their own group instances now, there is no need to worry about a crowded zone, which does help a lot in the grind. Anyone have any suggestions or mind lettin out your "super uber secret locations"? :) More than just a zone name helps a lot, many zones have many different types, levels and densities of mobs. Post by: hateborne on April 14, 2011, 05:57:58 pm Being a fully aa'd SK the last run I did was in city of mist but, that was before the xp change. What a helpful post. ...just as helpful -.- As far as I am aware, the exp MODIFIER was the change. Meaning all mobs still give the same base EXP, but the amount you gain has decreased. If say 'a ghoul executioner' (spawn you bastard...) gave 1000xp before the old modifier, you got 1000 x 4.0 = 4000 exp. Now, with it at ~1.1, it would be 1000 x 1.1 = 1100. So...yeah Anywho, City of Mist still works fine. Maiden's Eye is supposed to be fair, as well as Karnor's (assuming you have the magic resist). So...yeah, try those :-P -Hate Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Fugitive on April 14, 2011, 06:51:21 pm Good Hate!!

Post by: Brokyn on April 14, 2011, 08:16:20 pm If you are doing RoA for 3 toons at once it is going to be slow, especially without a support crew of toons to help. You'll find that a lot of people have created a group of toons to facilitate RoA, and usually do it for one toon at a time.
Example: Create a druid for regen, a Mage for Damage shield, and a Shaman for HP buff, then level one toon to 70 repeatedly. Some people prefer a bard for PL, which works great if you can do it. Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: hateborne on April 15, 2011, 08:46:53 am On the part of powerleveling teams, it comes down to preference.
I use a druid for Regen II and Spirit of Eagle. I use a bard for War March (DS). I use either a shaman or a cleric for 10k hp. (Prefer cleric as recasting isn't an hour delay like shaman buff) Buff up the lowbie beforehand, park bard somewhere easily reachable, and have lowbie round up a posse of pissed off people. Run'em back to bard, invite bard, cast War March, and disband (the second War March lands). For some that is too much, and if so, druid and shaman/cleric will work just fine too. Also, after spending last night trying to level 5 lowbies at once, City of Mist is sadface. I would recommend something else! -Hate Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: stad on April 15, 2011, 08:52:15 am the bard part is usefull
but maybe better to group with him let him stick on toon to level up and let him sing the sow song. do not cast any other songs yet. gather your mobs with your toon to level and once enough let bard cast his ds songs. Switch back to toon to level and the moment you see the songs land disband. Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: hateborne on April 15, 2011, 09:05:18 am It comes down to preference. I didn't run bard around as the foolish prick would always get stuck, hung, or fall off crap.
Spirit of Eagle works well enough for my needs. Do what suits you best. -Hate Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Dethundrel on April 15, 2011, 09:29:28 am Thank you guys for the suggestions, have a few new things to try out now and see how it goes.
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Gummibear on April 15, 2011, 11:28:56 am I tried City of Mist to 47 then PoFire, with a my pl group 3.0 shaman/druid/mage/Enh (even priest and paladin to push hp a bit higher) it was still taking me about an hour per rank I got bored after rank 12 and quit =( I don't have 100 hours per character to burn.
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Dethundrel on April 15, 2011, 12:56:58 pm From when I played on live, once GoD came out, the place to be for Exp was KT (Kod'Taz) for AA's since you needed to be , anyone tried there, or would the higher HP mobs not make it worth the little bit of extra Exp?
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Natedog on May 26, 2011, 04:12:55 am Not sure if this works on this server but this is what I used to do on live...
Neither toon is grouped in this! Id have my PL toon gather a shit ton of mobs while using a clicky to gain threat. (druid) Have the toon I was leveling hit each mob 1 time... works best with an AOE class. Turn on the highest level Damage shield on the druid and presto the lowbie just got a shit ton of exp. Anyone confirm that this works here? Mostly only works in the lowbie 1-47 range but makes it hella fast and only need to 2 box. Paldaul (sp) Caverns 1-20ish Dulak 20ish - 47ish After 47 group and and slay POfire lol Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Xalle on May 26, 2011, 07:33:17 am With shaman 3.0, druid T1 regen, and bard 3.0 I run around maiden.
1 to 47 in 5 minutes 47 to 70 in 4 pulls in pofire (clear front and back field twice usually) edit- i use spirit of eagle on bard and spirit of wolf on roa toon. bard will run 5% faster than roa toon so usually stays in range of songs while being able to outrun everything. Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Krinkle on May 26, 2011, 07:36:40 am I still dont understand how to use a lvl 70 bard for PLing 1-47. Is there a certain hotkey people use to make the bard join group then drop group and repeat?
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Dethundrel on May 26, 2011, 07:39:23 am That won't work here. DS counts as damage done, so the higher level toon would get the credit for the kills, and no exp for the PL'd toon.
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: barrettd04 on May 26, 2011, 07:42:25 am The way people sort of do that where is with a bard. Group low level toon with bard(best if 3.0+ i believe). pull a shitload of mobs with your low level toon. get back to basecamp, have bard start playing his damage shield song. right as the mobs are apporaching, break group. that should allow the song to still be on your low level toon, thus killing all the mobs yet you still get the xp for not being grouped with the bard in the end. hope that made sense, lol.
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Xalle on May 26, 2011, 08:05:57 pm have bard on /stick so hes following you .. play in windows mode .. pull mobs .. join group while auto running .. tab back over .. wait til both songs refresh / even out (so you have 12 seconds or w/e on both ds) ... drop group on alt being pl'd (bard still follows) ... stand and win
it does work... i would say look at my paladin i roa'd the past couple of days usin that method .. but yeah .. rollback sucks ;p Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Dropping on June 01, 2011, 02:00:27 pm So i would assume that the bard ds smokes the mage's?
Title: Re: Where do you RoA now? Post by: Sickem on June 01, 2011, 02:16:10 pm So i would assume that the bard ds smokes the mage's? Only by about 1200pts. :D |
