Title: AA's and different clients.
Post by: Gallus85 on June 01, 2011, 02:31:40 pm
A guildy told me that if I'm using the Titanium client, I can't select and purchase a lot of AA's.

Is this true?

If so, is there a fix for the Titanium client? Or do I need to find the SOD client.

Move zig.
For great justice.
That is all.

The SoD client does have more AA's than the Titanium.

Some of them are bugged / not usable (like HT / LH) with sod too

So would using SOD client benifit my character greatly or should I just stick with what I got?

It won't benefit you much as far as AAs go, but there are a TON of other features that are very nice benefits.  The extra bank space alone and better lighting on the client are enough to make it worth it.

Here is a list of some of the key features of the newer clients:

One of my favorite changes:

14. Blind no longer removes the UI.

This is amazing... because the mob "Heh" in PoD was designed by someone sadistic... blind for an entire fight? Sure !

Made the switch today, a few more AA's, game runs good, extra bank slots, better graphic options.

Was good switch, and easy to find.

Thanks guys.

1) Obtain SoD
2) Install to a different directory than your Titanium install
3) Copy the eqhost.txt file from your Titanium install to the SoD install
4) Download and install the spell file for this server
5) Play

You don't need to change your working Titanium installation at all, so if you can't figure out SoD you've lost nothing.

actually you need to change the eqhost.txt to point to the SoD login server

Host=eqemulator.net:5999

also need to put "patchme" in the shortcut but that's the same as with titanium.

If you are on SoD, and have bags in your extra bank slots, then load your toon on Titanim, obviously you will not be able to have access to them.  If you do that though, do you lose any of the items in those extra bank slots, or will the still be there when you log back into SoD?

Same question for AA's.  If you buy all of the SoD one's, you can't use them in Titanium, but do you lose them when you switch back over?

they will still be there you just can't see them.
I do it all the time when doing augs.

Just passing along the info since it kicked my butt for a bit before i figured it out. If you happen to get the steam version of SoD from the interwebz, I had to manually enter an exception for eqgame.exe into my windows firewall for it to work. I'm pretty certain it's because the steam version is just the program and related files, not the actual install, therefore windows firewall had no idea there was actually a program there, and blocked it when it tried to connect to the server.

This was on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OS. Probably varies if it's WinXP or something.
