Title: WSC Loss and Zone Crashes Post by: nerff on April 30, 2010, 01:25:15 am Not really flaming anything but this is just a simple observation and want to see what people think here.
Is it just me or does it seem like ever since the hardware was changed there is a significant amount of crashes/world server connection losses than before? 1. It seems like the server restarts don't happen anymore (before I think it was twice a day?) and 2. There is world connection loss once a day or more now, as well as multiple zone crashes. Is there something I missed here? I mean I don't see how changing to better hardware would cause this but I don't really see any difference other than the SoD client coming out since the hardware change. Most 99'ers left and the population is less than it was when they were here, but it just seems to crash even more now. Im wondering what could be causing the bogdown (other than the obvious train pullers etc.) Title: Re: WSC Loss and Zone Crashes Post by: zolton32 on April 30, 2010, 01:32:52 am I don't know the cause but the effect is horrible. I do hope the bugs are worked out soon though. This is a great server and i love the feel of it. If it had better stabillity it would be awsome. But i think they are working on it and will find a cure soon.

I didn't see many world connection losses since 99's came here; maybe 1 at the most, but before their server went down I had never seen a world connection loss at all. And the 2 server restarts I actually enjoyed when they worked. 5 minute downtime for better stability and possible extra spawns for cg/fg mobs when coming back was great. Since the hardware change, I have seen server restart messages before but they never actually restarted the server; you would see the message but nothing would happen. Im not really sure if Hunter fixed that yet or not. And now even more annoying is I can't even play my toons with the SoD client cause I get a damn, " spell cannot be cast while out of combat" message when trying to cast ANY spell, arrrrrrrrgh!!!! Me my game some times freezes at zoning in or out forcing me to close the game out as it stops responding locking me out each time grrr

Initially first week or two on the new hardware server population was peaking over 420+ and no issues with zone crashes and in fact server wasn't getting rebooted for days. This appears to have come in with some new source code or dependency changes. Problem is you really don't want to roll back to the older code as you will loose everything they add, so you get kind of stuck beta testing the new code so to speak. The hope is they get it fixed sooner rather than later. I'm sure Hunter/Trev/Secrets etc are hard at work on fixing it. One thing with EZ is that there some truly huge spells/effects on this server that don't exist on other servers so things work differently here, ie Anger V's so problems will show here where they may not show on other servers.
