Actually, he just changed the pet to be immune to root/snare by adding in special attack code "I".

Found Here: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=NPCSpecialAttacks

Unsnareable means it makes them immune to ANY run speed changes, slower or faster
so makes any sow / bard spells not land, and mage pet speed spell unusable

So probable an oversite, hopefully this will get reverted back =)

Didn't realize that would happen. Maybe I'll have to make Pets with +1000 MR to avoid getting snared/rooted? Will figure out a way.

Easiest way to fix, just add a Remove Detrimetal (9) or something to the pet heal spells. That way, the masters can cure them out of the root.

Maybe simply setting the pet's movement speed to the buffed speed? This gives the pets both the benefit of being runspeed change immune and letting them stay at a decent pace. (i.e. Pet speed before buff is X, pet speed with buff is Y, set pet's normal speed to Y.)

Should work something like:
Code:
UPDATE npc_types, pets SET runspeed = 1.8 WHERE npc_types.id = pets.npcID;

I dunno if 1.8 is the speed needed, but whatever. The query itself is sound.

Most pets were already 1.8 or higher. I made them all 3.0 now.

Heh the speed value was just for show, to complete the example. Will use X next time. And, as always, thanks for the update.

Damn pet classes. Always something.

The immediate solution I see is to remove the movement speed from the shaman buff, but that would suck all around.

This seems a lot of messing about, what was the orig problem with pets being rooted/snared anyway?
Putting MR up as Hunter suggested would prob cure, but i dont mind it, adds some risk

Can they not be put back to "Live Like" just with higher MR, or is there another problem i'm not aware of

Boss mobs have spells with -1000 resist adjustment so I'd have to make +1000 MR on pets.

Well, as long as all the spells have this -1000 resist mob, this may be the best solution. If not, the pets become nearly magic immune.

Can't their default speed be set to something 3-4 times faster and just leave the root immunity in?...
