Title: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Natedog on June 28, 2012, 09:43:54 am In game make sure to filter your gameplay!!
Alt + O ---> Filters ----> Check most of that crap to HIDE ^^^^ ---Do this first before proceeding PLEASE!! And onto what most people don't know about MQ2! Inside MQ2 it has its own filtering as well! This will filter anything starting with "texthere" /filter name add texthere This will filter "texthere" if it is found ANYWHERE in a text line!! /filter name add *texthere If you cant comprehend how this helps here are some examples!! Inside the Macroquest.ini file this is what it shows up at the very bottom after typing them in.. if you have alts online you either need to re-zone or reload to have this changes come into effect! [Filter Names] Filter1=*beams a smile Filter2=You strike through Filter3=*was hit by non-melee Filter4=*face contorts with rage Filter5=*begins to glow Explanation of each.... *beams a smile === Any stupid SK or Necro pet lifetaping that emote will be GONE You strike through === In game filter DOESN'T correctly filter this .. but MQ2 does!! *was hit by non-melee === In game DOES filter this.. HOWEVER!! Slaying an enemy it will show the killing magic blow... but MQ2 will FILTER IT!! *face contorts with rage === Scepter filtering .. i just personally like this to be filtered out! *begins to glow === No more Your UCv2 begins to glow crap.. helps a lot! I am thinking of adding a few more filters like... Filter6=Your spell did not take hold Filter7=Your target is too far away Those 2 are also very spammy Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Griz on June 28, 2012, 09:57:24 am Hate has an SQL file on his server that will clean the current spells file of all "cast on other" "cast on you" and spell visuals and stuff, but I doubt most people will know how to run it.
Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Xiggie | Stone on June 29, 2012, 12:57:55 am Few other phrases that I filter out.
tries to cast a spell on you you resist grins evilly ripped apart by a ninja daggerfall iii blessed by a holy knight encased in core fire struck by the spear of your target resisted bathed in chaotic the chorus the war march the magical energy fades the crystalline scales touch of vivification executes a flurry of attacks lightning dies down Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: WatchYouDie on June 29, 2012, 10:11:57 pm for those of you who dont run mq2 for whatever reason ... you can filter ur spell damge into a seperate window and minimize it ... if you hit the max cache size allowed in your ui it will reset that window (close it) and start sending it back to the main chat window ... this is not a fix by any means but it does work from desyncing about 75% of the time ...
to xiggie thanks man u def cleared up some spam in my windows =) Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Kovou on June 30, 2012, 05:20:52 am ok stupid question i know..but do you have to type this while loged in game or can you just copy/paste it with what you have/want here stright into the macroquest.ini?

Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Natedog on October 19, 2012, 06:48:01 pm do i need to do this with each character? or do the filters cross over to other toons? Log in one toon.. do all the filtering then load up your others and it will be filtered across all toons. Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Blurring on October 23, 2012, 04:37:21 am Couple other things to help reduce server load:
If you're using MQ2,EQBC and use the /assist command in your hotkeys - you can change /assist to run through eqbc instead. Any time you send an //assist command from your controlling character, use //target id ${Target.ID} instead. For example, if your assist hotkey is: /bca //assist Blarr Change it to: /bca //target id ${Target.ID} This command says: everybody who isn't me target my current target. I'm sure you've all experienced the delay involved when using assist. This is because the assist command has to send/receive a number of packets through the server. By using EQBC instead you remove all that traffic completely. The other thing everybody should please keep in mind: move your chars only when necessary. When your player moves that position has to be updated with every other connected client (to various ranges/frequencies). For a 12 person crew, moving the entire crew simultaneously requires a packet (or however many is used) from each character to the server, which results in 11 packets needing to be sent back out to your crew alone. (144 packets / multiple times a second) Similarly we should avoid pulling/aggroing NPC's that have no value. Same concept but NPC locations are updated at much higher rates over longer ranges as well. Also: do not sell quantities of items in the heavy lag zones. (If there are merchants, I'm not sure) The lag generated from even one char selling items consistently is large and zone-wide. Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: Brannyn on October 14, 2015, 06:53:30 pm When I first set it up with this it didn't work, it was targeting the wrong thing. So maybe it's time to try it again now that i'm much more used to mq2

Line near the top of the .ini should read FilterCustom=1 I just edited the .ini itself but, there is likely an in game command to do it. Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: JLPicard on January 21, 2017, 10:50:00 am Holy crap I can finally filter out Bard Spam!

Title: Re: PLEASE READ!! -- Filtering Options Post by: gnonim on May 18, 2017, 08:25:46 pm I've read through and performed all of the steps. I've edited the file outside of the game, and tried adding filters inside the game. Still getting all the spam. I'm using ROF2. Has anyone else had issues getting the filters to work and if so, any remedies / other things to check?
