Title: Way(s) to minimize lag?
Post by: MacofMacs on July 28, 2012, 12:16:34 am
I have 16gigs of ddr3 1666mhz memory, 1 MSI 560GTX-TI overlock Twin-frozr II video card, a amd fx-6100 "bull-dozer" 6-core 3.3 ghz processor and a 2 tb hard drive.

I have set all my settings to the lowest possible on Everquest and for some reason when I load 12 toons and start killing bosses I get choppy lag even with spell particles off.

Anyone got some advice please?

Next time I'd suggest the search feature!  :P

With your machine and the settings in the post I'm guessing you could easily 20+ Box.. if you wanted to.. I wouldn't suggest that many though. Gets very annoying boxing anything over 12 IMO

Try running /viewport 1 1 1 1 on all your boxes

You can reset it by doing /viewport reset

It makes it so that You can literally see nothing, everything game view is just black screen minus the UI.  This works great and is also depicted in a previously posted info about how to box many or reduce lag.  Great tip tho, I use it often, I believe someone even created a MQ2 plugin that'll do it to any session of eq that has mq2 running and is not active.  I think the plugin name is mq2test  try searching for that through the forums and you will find it.  Best of luck.

I actually restarted my computer last night after playing 30secs of a round on blacklight retribution with my cousin because it was lagging hardcore and which it wasnt earlier.. after I did so I loaded 19 with no problem what so ever not even touching this method. Thanks though for the help!
