Last night a total of 9 accounts were banned. 3 of which were not mine.

I would like to say I'm sorry to those that it offended. I played this char to 70 and got a 3.0 before anyone even said anything about it. For whatever reason last night was the night someone was offended by the profanity. I immediately changed my surname and apologized.

I have never given anyone problems here. I don't troll and in fact I have helped a lot of people on my BL main named Simoncat. I have spent countless hours PLing and doing runthroughs to help newer players aquire epics.

In short I wanted to first apologize to those that I offended, but also show that I'm not a random ez server troll. I am a helpful productive part of the EZ community that wants to see everyone enjoy the server. If any of you remember Simoncat from Iggles helping you please feel free to speak up here and let everyone know that I've done much more good than bad. Hopefully the bans can get lifted eventually. I think its a bit extreme to ban so many accounts because of one four letter word and zero trolling, but rules are rules.

Little surprised all of your accounts were banned, but that is up to hunter's discretion. While I doubt he'll flip them, if you end up needing a hand in game with kills at all on fresh toons can hit me up

Yeah I did say I wouldn't get banned. That chars been played for months like that and no one said a word. So I figured it wasn't a big Issue. Good job on your part though.

It makes me laugh that you can post RMT on the forums, but something like that gets you banned. Why even let the surname bot let you put it in if its against the rules?

I also thought maybe hunter would take into account the fact that I've been a very helpful and polite player.

Based on your posting history you've been around for 2 years.  I assume in that time you might have seen a few threads with pictures of people that broke the name rules.  Knowing what happens to those people and continuing to play your toon with that name is just dumb.

If you had been smart you would have just stopped playing that toon and then there would have been no issue.  By your own admission you were clearly arrogant enough to think the rules don't apply to you, and you were wrong.  Anything you say now has to be taken with a grain of salt as it is more you trying to save your ass than it is a genuine apology.

Its a bummer that that all the accounts were banned, but when you name a character something and you think to yourself " it Should be ok.." Thats usually a good sign that it Wont be.  ::)

And just to be clear for everyone else, even without the surname your name was, in my mind, still a violation of the rules. Buckfutter seems pretty obviously a play off of Buttfucker. You don't have to offend anyone to get banned, all you have to do is break the rules. Being all cocky and saying you wont get banned and then calling those who turned you over trolls makes your apology sound more like passive aggressive antagonism.

Finished downloading Champions online for free! Gonna see if Buckfutter will fly there. (maybe thats a superpower)

Now while I agree that his name was offensive, allow me to play devils advocate here and then explain my reasoning.

It just seems.. vague and really open to interpretation. Sure, I think I get the spirit of it, but wheres the line in the sand? Is there room for humor? Can we get a couple examples beyond the OP's obviously too far name? I don't mean to imply that wherever Hunter says the line is, it shouldn't be there. I just want to know where it is.

Would the name porkmaster violate the sexual rule? Off the top of my head.

I would just love to see 3 or 4 examples of "this is too far" in the rules. Are we at PG-13? 16M? G?

My pondering, and questions, are because I have a similar play on words, but a much more light hearted one(I think). I have a monk named Slitchbap, which I figured was a pretty amusing name for a monk, and was fairly certain it would be tame enough for an emu server.

Now I'm not so sure, and I sure don't want all my characters banned  :o

I'm pretty sure it was the Surname that got him banned.

The line in the sand is when Hunter decides to ban you or not. 

If you have to worry about the name crossing the line then it probably does.  It isn't hard to pick names that aren't anywhere near the line, so if you decide to pick something questionable and you get banned you only have yourself to blame.

If I was you I would send Hunter an email and plead with him.. Attempts to argue the rules on the forums won't get ya anywhere.

He doesn't need to provide examples when you are doing a good job in it yourself..

And I agree with you Fugitive. The thing is, this guy probably has an established toon, with time invested. He is nervous now cause of the banning. Before he did not think it broke the rules, and now he is not so sure. He just wants an answer so he does not end up in the boat the OP did.

And you are right, my posts are pointless. These guys can argue their own points.

He can ask for anything he likes, but don't confuse that with having rights.  Hunter can ban you for any reason he likes, rules or no rules.  Wanting more descriptive rules implies that someone wants to try and test the line as much as possible but still feel like they can say "But it wasn't against the rules!" when they get banned.  That kind of thinking doesn't work, and it shouldn't.

The rules, as written, are more than adequate for anyone to play here and never have trouble.  Most people would never have trouble here even if they never read the rules as common sense and being a decent person gets you 99% of the way there.

Anyone that I have ever seen on these forums, and forums previous to this that ever said that the rules were vague or open to interpretation was just looking for ways to get around the rules. The rules are very clear and precise.

I honestly see no problem with my toons name, I think its light hearted and humorous, PG-13 at the absolute worst, and im really not expecting an emu server to enforce G rated chat/naming, I read the rules as "keep it PG and don't be a dick"  am I wrong?

Someone quoted the common sense part of the rules, my common sense says my toons name is just fine, but if im wrong, ide like to know it. It wont be the first time Ive been wrong, and $deity knows it wont be the last.

I am not sure how this is open to interpretation. It is common knowledge that cuss words are referred to as bad words. Just because you switch a few letters around does not exempt you from naming rules.

Ive come across people in this life that think "Fiddlesticks" is a bad word, Ive watched childhood friends get grounded for calling a sibling "silly" as their parents said not to use such awful language. My interpretation says the name Slitchbap is fine, sure if you start playing anagrams, you'll find the word bitch, and slap, and that's the joke. But its not overt, and nothing I would label as a 'bad word'.

But again, Im me, you're you, we all have our own lines where we draw at which words are 'bad'.

And quite frankly our opinions don't matter, Hunters does.

If you have a problem distinguishing that bitchslap is a bad word then you are choosing to take that view. I refuse to believe that someone who has enough intelligence to breath would not be smart enough to realize that bitchslap qualifies as a bad word. As for the other words, people who think that are few and far between, thus making those extreme views. I can't make you use common sense, but I do suggest strongly that you use it when interpreting the rules.

I believe you're being disingenuous when you say it isn't overt.  The reason for naming a toon that way is so that people will get the "joke", so saying you don't think it's obvious just isn't true.  If you wouldn't have named your toon Bitchslap because of the rules then surely Slitchbap isn't a safe choice either.

I personally wouldn't have any problem with Bitchslap or Slitchbap, but knowing others might I would err on the side of caution and not use either as a name.

If you didn't think think it was against the rules then why did you name it slitchbap instead of bitchslap? Switching the letters like that is a common practice of those trying to get around the rules. Saying that you don't think bitchslap is a bad word is just bs. The only thing you are accomplishing here is making sure people get irritated enough to send your name on to Hunter.

Fair enough, Ive decided to delete the monk in question, when Hunter reads this thread(I assume hes reads most eventually), hopefully that will be enough of a self imposed penance if it was over his line(taking advice said earlier, had to ask, so I delete). One of my highest geared toons if that counts for anything(1.5) yeah I'm new, I really don't want to get off on the wrong foot lol.

If you truly do want to discuss my standings on the level of obfuscation that warrants a word no longer being 'bad' (the answer to your question which I assume is likely rhetorical) we can take it to PM's or tells in game, because as you (and I as well, ide like to say) have pointed out that my opinion on what makes a bad word doesn't matter  :)

That is one of the smartest recoveries I have ever seen on here. I second Fugitives offer, anytime you see Xiggie or Stone in game send me a tell on Stone.
