Title: Root illusion
Post by: Fugitive on September 02, 2012, 10:39:35 pm
What ya think about removing the illusion portion of the NPC Root??

It's one hell of a lag creator when a big raid gets suddenly illusioned and then everyone starts dispelling(RC3)asap then this happens multiple times per fight.... its like wham wham chunk chunk...

Lago-mighty!!!!!

Hunter anyway we can remove this part of the NPC Root (just the illusion part)??

I'm in agreement here with the troll on this one Hunter. The illusion part of the root if we are able to remove would reduce the lag factor by 100 easily b/c it really is what causes alot of us to crash/desync whatever i've noticed this and when a large number of ppl all RC3 to get rid of it or click reward item it also causes new lag to happen.

Still would have to RC to get rid of root but the process of illusioning 20+ players, then RC, then re-illusion, then re-RC, , , , , , This would stop that zone spike from happening over and over....

I have noticed most of the de-syncs are happening around this.

+1 same happening here. loosing sync at root.

Definitely seeing this also. There is a noticeable hitch that happens everytime a raid of toons gets illusion like this. Taking out the illusion component won't take the intended difficulty out of the encounter.

The illusion was suppose to be fun, and you can visually see who is rooted. I can take it out though to increase performance.

I really hate to butt in on the gentlemen that are ahead of the game and work hard to be there. I do value performance overall and can agree with their request.

I do have to ask if it was unavoidable to remove this from all roots in all zones. Not only was it "fun" to see the graphic, but it was a visual identifier that some of my boxes were still rooted.

I guess my point is. I am farming in PoG (Hohonora) and the root changes were applied there as well.

If you can separate the two that would be awesome, if not no biggie.

Also, thank you very much for the double loot  :)

Isn't the fact that your dudes aren't following you enough of an indicator that they are rooted?

No that does not satisfy. The visual indicates that I can begin breaking root before the mob is dead.

I can understand the Ease associated with the visual cue of the root, but the Playablity granted by its removal far outways it.

Ill have to pay more attention to the buff boxes now on effects but it better then watching the lag-o-death meter ;)

Thanks Hunter

Don't get me wrong, I am on your side. My question was could it be isolated to the later zones, but no worries.

Although the lag effect of the illusion is more apparent in Anguish I have noticed in other zones as well. Anytime you have a raid in any zone it hitches when you have a mass illusion. Add multiple mobs casting that mass illusion or more people logged into ez and you end up with zone crashes and desync issues.

Not to encourage laziness, but maybe instead of everyone spamming their break root items and causing more issues(?) the spell could simply be dispelled via paladin. Just an idea

Maybe this could only be achieved via epic 5.0+

the Lag is created from the raid going earth to normal to earth to normal.. it would be worse on a pally strike be almost lag locked between dispells..

yes RC3 like I said..

the illusion and RC3 and illusion and RC3 = spike lag..

Doesn't matter this is a dead issue now

Anguish Root Next Hunter thanks

The root has a HUGE range too, larger the the range RC3 covers.  The curse and cures range set as equal would be awesome.

I changed the range on AoE roots in high end tiers to almost 1/2 of what they were before.

Enjoy!
