Post by: marxist on December 17, 2012, 08:28:41 pm
Taking over 30 seconds for my toons to resync after every fight on a monday night. Not sure if something is going on, but the lag is similar to x2 loot weekends right now

Yeah, usually I dont lag at all, kind of surprising, could it be the updated source or are we getting updates and zones repopulated right now?

Experienced the same thing.. got on Sunday morning and was surprised to see 200+ on, but after getting creamed a few times from the lag monster, I bailed. Came back and tried to load in my 9man crew and had people running all over the place. Normally, when there's 200-300 on, I can load and run 12 smoothly.

Not sure what to say, I can see what others were saying during the last double drop weekend.
I moved across the country and my lag and connection to the server changed.
LAG = Gone
MS on pingometer = 50-150ms better

Hunter can you post the nearest major city to where you have the server again?
Would help if the people noticing lag would run Traceroute so we know if some node is fucked.

That or some background process's on the server need to be turned off.

All day Saturday and Sunday it was really bad. I haven't played since then so not sure if things have settled down but even with under 200 people on the server I was getting the ping-pong of mob health.

Do you monitor resource consumption on the server? Wondering if the new source is more processor or memory intensive.

There is definitely more lag lately, seems to be after patch. May be also do to work being done on new content.

May have been my RDP that I left open sucking up the upload bandwidth.

Could be new source code too.

Will try to figure out where the lag is from.

Remote desktop uses a lot of bandwidth I'm pretty sure =D

Paldail is correct. It depends on which one. True RDP is horrifically expensive on bandwidth. Cheaper ones like TeamViewer can be configured to be less painful, but still apparent.

It is a monster of resources when it is on always has been.. seems like they would have streamed lined this by now making it less of a hog /shrug
