I go to load eq and cant get past log in screen. Type in info... get message cant connect to server. The only thing i did recently was move my eq folder from the desktop to a nother folder on the desktop. And... to top it off I know jack about comps so any pointers or a direction to a forum/post I need to read? It all worked just fine a few weeks ago when I was last able to play. thanks! staagi Title: Re: login help Post by: red2 on January 19, 2013, 03:12:43 pm OK so we know you are starting at the very beginning, but for troubleshooting purposes lets start there or close to anyway). You have been here at some point, but take another look, http://www.eqemulator.org/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=PlayGuide
We know you have done steps 1,2,3. Step 4, the eqhost file, is a likely culprit. Check it exists. That your user account has permissions to it ( right click it, properties, security). Step 5, that the shortcut points to the right place, and has the patchme on end. also check that the name of the eqgame file is not past max length. in win7, open the folre on your desktop, then the eq folder. in the address bar where is says something like c:\folder1\eq\ copy that and past here so we can see that it is not to long. try those see what you get. Title: Re: login help Post by: dadaas on January 20, 2013, 12:33:11 pm I looked at the eqhost file and it is there. I also gave permission to everything for all users.
I am a bit confused on the last step... win7= windows7? I need baby steps sorry Title: Re: login help Post by: dadaas on January 20, 2013, 12:37:50 pm I tried to re-create the short cut... below is what the Target window reads.
C:\Users\Zogas\Desktop\eq\Everquest_Underfoot_Steam\eqgame.exe patchme Title: Re: login help Post by: Chieftan on January 20, 2013, 05:07:11 pm Why have everything installed on your desktop?
you only need a shortcut. Any problems like this are always to do with access/permissions etc Especially Windows 7 Move your whole eq folder to your C: root or another Drive eg C:\eq\Everquest_Underfoot_Steam\ then create a shortcut on the desktop to eqgame.exe Try and see if that works Title: Re: login help Post by: dadaas on January 20, 2013, 05:24:24 pm moved everything to C programsx86
created new short cut same issue for some reason I feel like I am creating more of a problem, I agree with it being some type of administrative permission issue, are there any other places I need to give permission? Title: Re: login help Post by: lerxst2112 on January 20, 2013, 05:53:16 pm Program Files has more permission issues than the desktop. So, you made it worse. Title: Re: login help Post by: Chieftan on January 20, 2013, 06:01:52 pm Yup, that'll make it worse
As i said in my previous post, move the eq folder to the root of the drive. not users, not program filesx86, not program files, not windows, Just the root of the drive |
