Title: Excel Character Tracking - Magelo Scraper
Post by: Kromagnome on June 26, 2013, 12:46:04 pm
Hey EZ Server,

I made an spreadsheet that people may be able to modify for their own needs. It tracks my group of characters' gear by scraping information from their magelo links.

To utilize this for your own characters you'll need to:

  • Change the tab names to reflect you characters' names
  • Update all of the data connections to point to the appropriate magelo links
  • Change the character names in cells B1, C1, etc. to your character names

I believe the rest of the spreadsheet is completely dynamic and should, once the above is done, update for your characters.

Here's an example of the data shown.

Disclaimer: Don't trust me or anyone else giving you a macro enabled spreadsheet. If you want to use this make sure you enable the developer tab and check out the function I built to scrape the magelo tables.

I'll add a list of known issues that I haven't buggered to fix:

  • Second bracer needs to be found using a manually adjusted OFFSET within the excel function
  • Haven't come up with a way to show the currently equipped secondary
  • Not an issue but I would like to label each character as T1, T2, etc. based on their highest level of COMPLETE gear set

I'm sure their are more problems but those are the ones that bother me the most right now.  ;)

That looks really awesome.

It can be quite a hassle to keep track of what toon needs what armor. I'm sure a lot of new players will find this extremely useful.

Hey all, in looking at this with Warbash I realized that the recent website change (omission of the previous home page and magelo switch) the magelo tables are pulled into excel differently. It's still possible to get the data, with some modification to cell lookups etc. but I don't have time to update this right now.

No worries, I got the HP Ac issue working by modifying the cells but its not working on the gear. I ordered office 2013 to see if that addresses the problem :)

Hi Kromagnome,
Installing Office 2013 fixed most of the issues. Just need to get RoA and UC to work. I see if I can play with it tomorrow.
