I have no idea what the caster version is, but I don't think their pets get the same bonus that bst pets do from what I remember people discussing. But as I said, I have nothing to support this other than a shoddy memory.
The bigger issue with the earring is the ridiculously low drop rate of stones in relevant content...I've recently ground out two full UCv3 in T8 and managed 2, which were the first two I'd seen drop in T8+ in months, and I'm not exaggerating that for emphasis...it was literally months between seeing one drop. It sounds like HoH might be the best place to find them, I talked to a seller that pulled 4 out across a 2 day span. In my opinion, the AA required on the earring should be the mitigating factor and not the stones themselves, but I don't know that it's broken at all since people still manage to complete the earrings regardless. The pet benefit for the earring is a BST pet thing, to offset their lack of benefit from mana necks and summoners packs. Dim's also right in that beastlords overall need a revisit to their dps; even with maxed strikes and UC their damage vs a similarly geared monk, ranger or rogue overall is rather lackluster. Will pull up some numbers for comparison.

I don't want to assume what kind of comment this really is, but Rymo has put in an assload of grind to get his crew to where it is and he should be rewarded for that time. I think this quest is overall one of the better quests for our "Ages" line of quests. I think the RoA is top but Earring of Ages is a very, very close 2nd, imho. I think after Hate makes the tune adjustments it will be what was envisioned. I think BST's should reap the benefits from this quest the most, because quite frankly I think they deserve that boost for the class I think Mage's and Necro's should reap some benefits from this quest as well, but I think BST should reap the most reward from this quest as far as pets go. As far as the other DPS classes, I think the Monk should reap the most rewards, followed by Rogue then Zerker, Ranger then Warriors. I think the most reward for Warriors is the HP benefits, 250k vs 48k (T8 earring), but they should benefit from the DPS angle, but not as a Monk or Rogue would. These are just my opinions on the matter. Basically, make a character named "Parse___" (i.e. Parsefdsgfsd) and character is automatically near-best gear, UCv3, second to highest augment, appropriate strike augs or mana necklace, etc etc etc. UW option included, but not automatically equipped. Catch is character is LOCKED to one zone (parser zone). If character zones anywhere else or loads in anywhere else, he/she is automatically moved to parsing zone. If too many attempts to get parsing character out, account is kicked from server and (parse) character is force deleted.
That way, ANYONE could parse on the EXACT same level. This wouldn't take more than an afternoon to setup, but would take another to test and perfect the "anti-abuse" bits to prevent people from taking the parse characters outside of the parser zone. The pet's dps went down by almost half in the "pet only" portion. the 1h + whip combo didn't even increase the overall damage by much, but I was very surprised to see that it did after how much dps was lost in the "pet only" parse. I mean I get it the whip debuff and buff help, but the fact that he's got a whip doesn't mean jack if you look at how much melee damage was lost. Looks like the loss of mana strike procs from using the 2hander is the real deciding factor, that's what i meant. 2H parse Pet only 500s 5497359dps Pet and mage chaining TV2 7032567dps Dual Wield parse pet only 3260523 dps (2,236,836 dps lost) mage + pet 7145690dps (113,123 dps gain) From this, by adding the mage casts into the equation, thus activating the Mana Neck procs, the massive dps loss of using the 1hand / whip gets flipped around. So my next question, are pets capped at 35 delay like we are, or can you load them up with chanter buffs and watch them go zoom zoom? And finally, if it were ever possible to add a Roaming Gnome to the crafters guild that would give your caster flags based on UW level to make your pet auto-equip two 1-handers of the identical level of yours (using the hail > Firebladev2-v3 system), that would be a nice dps buff to bring them in line with the melee's with earrings. This would make the summoner's bag kinda useless, but as it stands now they can't put two Ult weapons in it already, and they'd have to unaug their staff, swap it to the 1hander, put it in the bag, and go back to the staff every time the pet died. Option 2: If you still wanted to make use of the Summoner's Bag, have the Roaming Gnome flags award the player with a spell that would summon 2 1-handers to put in the bag. I can't believe I'm making a post supporting the use of pets :-X but I feel bad that Sona has all that work into a mage and my warrior / rogue / monk outdps it without even having a lvl 1 earring yet. I have been running a mage...I like the damage shield... and I really like my COH button on my main toon when I get stuck...run into the firepit in TOV or do something else I don't like... its nice to have an instance call back.. without the UW or Earring the mage dps is ...well..meh... but what can I say ... I run a chanter as well with all the non UW stuff or earring and even with UC3/bag/neck maxed out he is very /meh I guess VT2 is nice but i never get a chance to use GOA and its impact is fairly minimal. One thing ive always wondered though, is why not boost caster spells, and pets, to what looks like INSANE high damage amounts. worst case scenario casters are overpowered for a day and then their spells get changed back to what they were the very next day. I just think about the idea of the death line of spells, that took some thinking, and then the spell to make that AE? that took some better thinking, but still in the end, necros cant compete dps wise. I dont think great new ideas are going to fix them, I dont know if a massive boost to damage spells will fix them, but I dont know what the harm in trying it would be. Since no one uses single target dmg, just boost the AE spells and let's see. These spells should be doing 5x+ as much dmg imho - I'm amazed it hasn't been changed over the years.
Right now, Chunka tells me my wizard will do sub-par damage, but only after I max my caster neck, max gear, get earring 50 and UW 11... no thanks. I think I'll stick with my zerks since they do great dmg in all tiers. What's the point in playing a dps caster all the way to the end of the game just to have them do "sub par dmg" especially when you can gear out any other toon for way way way more reward. If we boost dmg, they will be viable at all tiers. I've never had a caster provide more than 2% of my raid's damage and I've done a lot of parsing. On another note, didn't monks used to be good? Seems they suck now with sub-par single target DPS. Now with a mana neck, uc and the right spells they do damage on par with NS melee....with a caveat. If you have multiple UW and kill mobs in 2 or 3 seconds then no, casters wont be needed. But they are an alternative. Just a side note.....by my parses, T9 gear and spells, maxed NS on a meleeing ranger, uC2 vs UC2 wiz with mana neck 11....winner is the wizard (AND they add a bit of AE dps). Almost any class here is viable now in its role. Casters do VERY well, but you need to know how to set up MQ2 for em, you need tyo know spell synergies and you need to know ALL the tools available. If you dont then yes, they are sub par....but thats no different than any other class. I think the only 2 that are really in dire need of work are beastlords and druids, but just my opinion....and Hate says he has plans in store for both. Tests in 500s duration, only doing 2 trials each since this is going to involve a lotttt of discs / AAs to be tested. Monk (Ear 16): Base: 9.318 mil --- 9.613 mil Innerflame Disc: 10.944 mil --- 11.485 mil ~19.5% dmg increase Glyph of Courage AA: 10.782 mil --- 10.185 mil ~12% dmg increase Glyph of Courage AA + Innerflame: 14.042 mil Accidentally had Innerflame running for the first test so added this. Glyph of Courage only seems to modify Spell Critical damage, but gives them a hefty bonus. UWXI proc was doing 19,707,187 damage critical blasts, up from 13,735,312. Almost every monk disc / AA effect their secondary attacks, which really do nothing on EZ so there isn't much to play with here :'( Zerk (Ear 0): Base: 10.045 mil --- 10.463 mil Savage Spirit AA: 20.795 mil --- 20.454 mil ~99% dmg increase (All melee become Crippling Blows) Cleaving Anger Disc: 15.602 mil --- 16.507 mil ~58% dmg increase (Some melee become Crippling Blows) Blind Rage Disc: 14.537 mil --- 13.893 mil ~39% dmg increase Reckless Abandon AA: 13.093 mil --- 12.279 mil ~25% dmg increase Vengeful Flurry Disc: 11.617 mil --- 12.136 mil ~16% dmg increase Cascading Rage AA: Shows up as a debuff, which fade in city zones so unable to parse. Also adds a proc without a current spell id. Blood Pact AA: Buff works, but no spell id exists on EZ for the proc it's supposed to add. 0 dmg gained. Vehement Rage AA: 10.295 mil ~0% dmg increase (seemed to do nothing, didn't bother testing again) Unpredictable Rage Disc: Disc seems to works and procs the proper stacking Song, but it fades instantly. 0 dmg gained. Ancient: Cry of Chaos Disc: This was more of just a test to see if Hundred Hands Effect bypassed the server delay cap of 35. For those that don't know how Hundred Hands worked in actual EQ, it takes a % of the delay on your weapon and after all haste calculations are complete, subtracts that number directly from your hasted delay. AKA 100 delay on Ult Zweihander going down to 35 with max haste on EZ, Hundred Hands would take 5% of the 100 delay and subtract it from your current 35 delay, making it 30. However, it does not work as I thought ;) 0 dmg gained. The last 2 tests I used the whip offhand. Turns out the weapon with less White damage is the better mainhand, just from slightly more proc damage. The new bard DPS is a combination of two things. Firestrike getting pooped on by VT when it was already far inferior to Ninjastrike to begin with, and the addition of Triple Attack to the Bard's arsenal. So how do they stack up to other Ninjastrike users with the new Triple Attack? Find out next time on Dragonba.... jk I'll let you know when ranger finishes UC3 ::) My monk and rogue have moved on from using such augments if somebody feels like adding. All you have to do is download Gamparse (gam not game) run a character to the dummy (use a QRG instance so buffs don't fade, don't use fighter guild) Once at the dummy, hit ALT + O, go to filters, under Spell Damage select show mine. Once done type /log on and start swingin away! When you're finished, type /log off and re-filter the Spell damage. The important things about parsing are 1: You must be able to see all damage in your combat log while doing it and 2: only parse the character from his POV and his log file. Any other characters' damage picked up will be inaccurate. And to all the people that constantly bug me about is the whip still worth it. All 4 of these parses have the Bard's DPS breakdown being: 97% proc damage 3% physical damage. Yes you use the whip. Your precious 2500 white damage does not matter.
