Oh, and regardless the client, you must make sure you have direct x 9.0c loaded. You can still find 9.0c on MS website.....I believe its the June 2010 Runtime, which would be here (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109).

I would also move eq out of program files x86 - system protected folder
Just have the eq folder on c: or other drive

Once you have run and installed direct x
Run optioneditor set to 800x600 resolution
Then run eq and set res in game to what you want

Din
how do mean when you say "broken"?

I changed nothing about my setup why it is odd.

The instances of that version crash.  when I try to load into regular t5 or t5 instance.

I know T5 is buggy if globalload.txt has been altered and changing illsalina_chr.txt to
1
dke,dke

Should fix it, But if it has worked, and now crashing with no change, not sure why, sorry

These errors are usually to do with graphic card, have a look at dbg.txt in the logs folder, may give some clue

Do you get any error ref/number, or just does it just say its crashed and shut down?

Only other thing i can possibly think of, is some core system files arn't installed
M/S Netframework etc, may be wrong thou

here is a copy of the exact text on the EverQuest Crash Notification

EverQuest has detected that your client may have crashed.

It is possible to determine where and why the crash occurred.

Click OK to send this data back to the developers in an effort to help stability of the game.

Also, if you have a moment, please enter details about what you were doing when you crashed.

its a toshiba satellite c55d, amd e1 processor, 1Ghz amd radeon graphics card

Came across this

Quoted from sony website
Quote
The AMD C-xx and the built-in GPU have not been supported since their introduction. The other AMD notebooks using AMD E1-2100 APU or similar APU will also not run EQ pass the character selection screen. If someone does they have not acknowledged it.

Maybe some help

Also make sure you've edited the shortcut properly....modified all necessary files as outlined by the guide or emu instructions. No loaders, no patchers.

Post by: zenthrose on March 07, 2015, 03:27:34 pm
@aeryn thats basically saying i cant play cuz of the amd e1.
@chunka i have the shortcut set to patchme at the end, and the eqhost file says login.eqemulator.net:5999

Post by: balidet on March 07, 2015, 05:06:31 pm
if it was not patchme ect you would not get to char select... you could not see the server so this is not the problem...

I actually prefer to make changes myself if there is a guide for it.  so i actually saved the guide to a txt file on my computer. i even went as far as to reinstall visual redist 2005 for the c++ library error i keep getting, no luck, used optioneditor.exe and set everything to min even res at 800x648 i think(the lowest res) same crash after i click no on send the info as posted above i really noticed it had another error, it was the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Terminated.
Any other suggestions? ideas???

ok, here is an update to my problem, i borrowed my brother-in-laws copy of visual studios ultimate 2013 and ran the program in debug mode to find out where i was crashing at and apparently i have 5 .dll files at fault but can't seem to get them fixed. the files are powrprof.dll, atiu9pag.dll, atiumdva.dll, atiumdag.dll, aticfx32.dll, now the ati .dll files are associated with my amd radeon hd 8210 graphics card. but those i have deleted and reinstalled over a dozen times trying to fix my error.  and also (x64 processor mind you) the game is loading the files from the sysWOW64 folder instead of the system32 folder, how do i fix this?

You need to look for the compatibility fix for Windows 8

@ishallnotdie where is said combatibility fix?  if you are referring to using combatibility mode, i have tried them all.

I honestly think we have given much as we can on this one

My advice would be, if you already haven't done
Is try installing the steam F2P RoF with updates, and see if that runs

If it does, try the emu version again, may install something needed

Or try Sony help, if it dosnt

that didnt work either red, i did try something though and it worked, i installed titanium and was able to log right in, the client just tells me to upgrade to underfoot, could i just copy all the zone files and spell files and be able to play that way? i primarily use either a rogue or warrior?

Title: Re: underfoot help
Post by: RedDwarf on March 18, 2015, 10:34:25 am
Not really

You can play upto a point with titanium
But new spells , items won't work
As ids are beyond what titanium can read

If current RoF isn't working, I would post on Sony forums
Hopefully they may have an answer

It does sound like gpu issue thou
Have a look at dbg txt, it may show where it is falling over

Not compatibility mode... I don't use 8.1 but I remember reading something on this issue about a year ago.. my guess would be you could find what you're looking for from "live"

i noticed that with a resent update that live has, i can play on live, but i still can not play on any of the eqemulator servers :( i have tried just copying over the files that got changed which where the eqgame.exe, eqgraphicsdx9.dll, eqmain.dll, moddat.ini, ondemandresources.txt, and requirments.txt.  but that doesnt work.  i have even tried just using the same version for live here and it just hangs at the server select

I'm not going to sit here and search for you ... no offense man ... but if you dig back I told yoiu i seen this error before on these forums... looking prob a year or so ago prob under general discussion. I cant tell you what the forum name is but i do remember reading this same issue. If i recall it was a fairly easy fix. I suggested live forums because i figured others had the same issue and would be more support.

Do you have a log of the reason it's crashing error# ref# ?

when you used the live version did you run the patchme on the shortcut and change the login server? if you got it up on live you should be able to get it running here.

if that doesnt work try using the old files you updated and do some switching around and testing i.e use old files and the updated .dll files

be creative

@watchyoudie
i have tried all the links i can find.  i even was in chat with live support for about 3 weeks.  and then with an update back on 03-31-2015 it would work,  i have been trying to figure out a combination of all the files to get it to work. no luck, that is why i am seeing if there is someone here that might know what i need to do now!  and the crap about the apu not working is not true.  i can run live on my apu just fine now, but not on any of the eqemulator servers, and i want to know why.  i thank you for the help you have provided me in the past for this issue, but it hasnt helped me play on eqemulator.  up till the update on 03-31-2015 i couldnt even play on live.

If you do not follow the steps to create your account that are listed on eqemu site, your account will try to hook up with the "live" servers......follow these instructions.  You can find the complete listing on eqemulator.net.......

Step 3 - Login Server Account
•You will now need to create a Login Server account that you will use log into the EQEmulator Loginserver. ◦Please go to the Login Server page (located under Miscellaneous in your UserCP∞). ◾Select "Create a LS Account."
◾Fill out the fields and proceed.
◾*Please note that your EQEmulator Forum account and EQEmulator Login Server account are totally seperate; you should use a different username/password combination for each.

•Your Login Server Account passwords are now recoverable as of March 2014, but you must setup verification right away. ◦Verification

§Step 4 - EQHost File
•In order for your client to connect to the EQEmulator Login Server (and not SOE's EQLive Login Server), you will need to change your eqhost.txt file to point at the correct location. Go into your EverQuest directory and locate the eqhost.txt file. Replace the contents of the file with the following (Remove any trailing spaces):

§Titanium or Secrets of Faydwer:

?

1
2

[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

§Seeds of Destruction/Underfoot/Rain Of Fear:

?

1
2

[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5999

§Step 5 - Creating Shortcut
•Now, you will need to create a shortcut to launch EverQuest and bypass the EQLive patcher (if this step is not taken, you will launch the patcher and overwrite the EQHost.txt file that you just modified, making you connect to the global EQLive Login Server). To do this, go into your EverQuest directory. Locate the EQGAME.EXE file. Right-click on the file and select "Create Shortcut." You can rename this shortcut and drag it anywhere you'd like (most people like to put it on their desktop). Now, right-click that shortcut and select Properties. In the target box, you will see the path to the eqgame.exe file. We need to edit this so that it will pass an argument to that executable when the shortcut is launched. At the end of the text box (after any parentheses), add "patchme" (no quotes). Your target box should look similar to this:
•"C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme
•Or if you do not have spaces in the path, it will look like this without quotes:
•C:\Everquest\eqgame.exe patchme

@orthanos  i know how to set it up.  if you read this whole thread you will see what the issue is that i am having.  underfoot/rof2 unpatched doesnt let me connect.  and up till the last patch from sony on 03-31-2015 i couldnt even connect to live.  i have more than one instance of everquest on my computer, i actually have 4. the only client i can connect with that i have is titanium, and with that nothing really works outside of your low lvl crap. none of the buffs, my epic 2.5s dont work

edit: and your i mean the stuff that everyone as at the lower lvls

just an update and an fyi, if you have an apu processor the best way to play is on linux using playonlinux with the wine add on at the system settings.
