Title: Mage pets
Post by: jaxs1031 on July 06, 2015, 05:27:21 pm
I don't know if this ha been talked about but i just got my mage pet 4.0 and I'm not happy with it at all. It sticks to you so close you can't see anything or really click on anything because you click him you can't shrink him it's just in the way. Also this isn't a problem but someone may find a way to use it as an exploit the pet warps to a target and then back to you before you would see it run to the target but no it's just warping to it and back again.

Are you running mage as a solo player?  Never seen anyone do that on this server.....

The "warping" is a product of server delay and high pet runspeed. As for the size, is "Hide Companion" not helping after a few casts?

I was noticed this on my mage as well so I immediately logged her off and wont bring her back again.  I also noticed that she is only UC1 so this is another reason to never log her back in unless I am farming POD.

Hide Companion does not work shm shrink doesn't work also the pet buffs disappear when you zone so you have to keep rebuffng them..Defensive Boon..Elemental Fury ...and yes i run my mage as my main.

Try using an illusion spell on your pet and then using hide companion. Or a cooler fix would be to just use grow on your mage. then your super tall and screw that little pet hes not in your way, nobody is, your tall.

Been this way since the source update, no idea why. Pets didnt used to try and crawl up your ass like they do now....bastards used to respect your personal space. I think Krincle scares them.

Also noticed hide pet isnt working for crap. Illusion is though. And yeah, still losing perm buffs when I zone the pets.

my mage's pet doesn't seem to lose buffs on zone...

Odd. Just rebuffed my pet in T8, gated to nexus, no perm buffs. Using RoF2 client, same thing happens with or without mq2 on, have the 070315 spell files.

Yeah  lose the buffs no matter what zone I go into it's not really a problem with the buff just the pet up my ass is getting to me.

On the note of pets.  here is some stuff that I noticed during DL

I know the Halloween pets are not ment to be great dps but I was looking at the pet stats since my non-Halloween pets were dying a bit more then I thought they would.  My non Halloween pets were showing -200% for both healing and spell damage (happened on 7/5 but not able to recreate the problem on 7/7 and only really looked at my BL since it was the pet that was dying.  was 6.0 now has 7.0)

With pet movement I noticed that the non-Halloween pets I have teleport from place to place (move to new location but is still facing the same direction.  some times the new location is in the master) and Halloween pets have the normal running movements, keep up with the master and stay the normal pet distance away as they should.

With perm buffs I moved around from zone to zone and only found that illusions were the only thing that fell off.

Client - RoF2
Spell File - 6/9/15

Not sure if any of these problems are just client side but felt I should post what I noticed with pets after being gone for a few months in case there is something wrong with them.

Just tested it, hide companion seems to be working just fine on my T9 mage pet. I would recommend the pet illusion water snake if you want it out of your way. You can also use the illusion and shrink it for a really tiny pet.

It can't be client side because when my pet loses defensive boon while zoning, they lose the 4 mil hp that comes with it. The stonewall isn't showing on the pet buffs screen, not sure if thats just an error in it being reported or if the pets stonewall isn't working.

have you all checked to make sure that you have the aas on the rof2 client? I remember the devs messing with ranks of aas and all kinds of stuff before rof came out so it's possible the source update is going off of whatever crazy stuff they did so you no longer have the aas or a file is messed up

Have all aa's maxed on the mage....and its not ALL buffs that fade, just the permanent.

As in Mobility/Minion-Bulwark/???-Bulwark? If so, the pets should recast. If not, I need to edit the code. Either way, permanent buffs fading on zone is noteworthy.

The one that comes to mind immediately is defensive boon.

Oh, and since for some weird reason pets stay literally on top of you when not active you're gonna wanna make sure to use the SIT command for the pet before turning in anything. Mine ate a mask of experience because of this. No, I didnt ask for a refund...I'm not that stupid :D

I wouldn't call that stupid Chunka.   The admins made it where mages have to jump through hoops now in order for a Mage to trade anything without it accidentally landing on their pet.   That should be their fault and it should be replaced since they made the mistake of messing up the pets.

Everyone else though to bad.

Didn't happen to me though so I'm not complaining.  lol

I have to agree, the way the pets are now makes it very difficult to do any sort of trade or turn in. It also VERY distracting when walking to have them port to you over and over.

Might be that the permanent buffs are being considered short duration buffs (even if they don't go to the song window) because of the way the buff timer works.
ONLY mentioning this because I know that certain DA spells on live will drop on zoning even when they go to the main window (playing on zek teaches you a lot of interesting things about DA)

Did some digging and passed this info up to Akkadius. ALL pets seem to be defaulting to GM speed for reasons unknown. Since this is faster than the server is setup for, it sets the movement threshold so high that the next waypoint to "appear" looks to be outside of the zone (which gives us that "warping" feel).

Hopefully Akkadius will be able to get something resolved with that.

The runspeed on the Insane Goblin / Stone Monster pets seems fine.. I'm guessing the normal mage pets are just too fucking fast and their runspeed needs to be lowered  :P

That's odd. I actually think I know what's causing out then. It does it on old EQ pets too, but I didn't check without GM speed on. Will test with my actual mage account. Ok, it's quest related this time. I've got to do reverse math to find out what the new tiny value is for a player's runspeed to match it. gfd it.

$client->GetRunspeed() returns the larger (final?) number (i.e. 56 or 158), but the modifynpcstat runspeed uses the new system. Damn it, damn it, damn it. So I'll likely have to reverse the number from GetRunspeed into that new tiny value

JUST FIXED THIS!

With the new runspeed changes, a formula that was accurate now is ...biased. On NPCs, GetRunspeed returns a number less than 5 usually. On players, it's in the 30s up to 100s. Using these same values, it made the pets able to literally move entire zones in a single "stride". This has been fixed and will be live with new instances or reboot. :-)

Just started having issues with pets. Some clicky pets arent responding to hails....summoners bag pets arent equipping weapons if they log in or zone, only if they are summoned fresh in zone.

Will wait and see if issues persist after reset.
