The frequency of questions over /ooc by newer players was steady at that point in time. We have a great set of Wiki's at our disposal, but they are comprehensive, and often the complaint was that they didn't want to read a manual for hours to get involved in a game. Plus, reading is for nerds. I kicked around the idea for awhile, having developed other video series for other games and guilds, but I was too busy grinding out T2 to be bothered. Early this year, I decided it was time to give back to the community. I really like this place and I would like more people to check out EZ and not get scared off by the learning curve. People seem to really like digital media, and from my own personal experience, I would rather watch a tutorial video than read a PDF or instruction manual. So far I've developed 5 Videos, with plans to make 3 in the near future, and a dozen or so more as I make my own progression. Here is my current list of upcoming videos MQ2 Advanced Charms Epic Quest 3.5 Epic Quest 4.0 Epic Quest 4.5 Epic Quest 5.0 It's a great feeling to finally launch this channel and get some feedback, especially constructive criticism. I've been using my free time to develop these 5 videos for about 4 months now. It's nice to see them done and released. If you have any suggestions for future videos, post below so I can develop a plan around it. I want to be clear that this is for the community and at the disposal of the Admins. I made this with quality in mind, so if you think something sucks, say it here so I can correct it. If I made an error, let it be known so I can adjust it. I have retained all of the raw video and assets so I can make corrections, except for the Epic 2.0 video. I accidentally saved over the After Effects and Vegas files. I had been drinking. I've also been involved in updating maps for Darpey's Wiki. Most of the maps were originals from live, some hand drawn in colored pencil, most were small in size and weren't really EZ maps. As I update these maps, if I missed something or you would like to suggest a change, let me know. Originally I accepted Akk's offer to make the wiki because I knew that I would get busy at work and play less and have zero time to update the ezguide. I'd hoped that people would jump in and run with it...and they have!! This video guide kicks ass! If I can do anything to help, yell! Thank you! And a big thank you to Darpey and the guys doing the other wiki! Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Noot on October 03, 2015, 06:34:38 pm Thank you all for the kind words. New videos are up now!
I was able to get the videos to 720p quality. I uploaded all of them except for the Epic 2.0 video. That video I can't do much with due to losing my files. I'm currently trying to optimize its settings so it is more compatible with YouTube, but it will be a 480p video. If it wasn't 14 minutes long and the most animated video, I would just remake it. Lessons were learned. I'll be starting the "Installing and Setup" video on Monday. Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Chunka on October 03, 2015, 08:03:33 pm One correction: 1.5 epic is JUST Terrorantula, no more Quillmane.
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Kruciel on October 03, 2015, 08:38:37 pm Lol everytime I hear you say "FROM THE ZONE IN" on the Caster's Guild guide it makes me think of this: https://youtu.be/SQCH8v0ieUY?t=4m39s
Ohhhhh 90's shows ;D Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Darpey on October 04, 2015, 11:08:55 am Just watched the first 10 seconds and stopped to write this... Hilarious... :)
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Darpey on October 04, 2015, 11:25:47 am Absolutely brilliant series - wonderful ;D
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Darpey on October 04, 2015, 11:31:05 am I have retained all of the raw video and assets so I can make corrections, except for the Epic 2.0 video. I accidentally saved over the After Effects and Vegas files. I had been drinking. I had been drinking. I bought the rogue epic weapon MQ on p99 for 50k (don't know if you know about their platinum values, but 50k is a shitton of money. It was all I had saved at the time. I was drinking, and gave the final turnin to the wrong guy. I think I will remember that moment when I am 70 Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Drajor on October 05, 2015, 05:36:00 am Really funny Noot, nice work!

It's not just the videos that are impressive, it's the narration. Fantastic work. Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Waraesh on October 13, 2015, 06:18:11 am I like that the setup video is concise and still packed with humor. Great job Noot! He'd have browser tabs saying things like "Sylvanas Spring Break Pix" ;D

Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Darpey on November 22, 2015, 05:11:13 pm ToFS maps look great - good improvement over the old wiki ones
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Noot on November 22, 2015, 05:41:46 pm Thank you! It was always difficult to follow the maps due to size, when I saw them under 200 x 200 resolution I thought a touch up might be in order.
Here's a comparison of the original map to the updated one. I now realize I need to touch up Floor 4. Missing Cara's spawn point. I can't wait to see more ;)
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Kruciel on November 24, 2015, 03:18:27 am Next step is for Akka to replace the crap vids that are linked in the eqemu EZ server info with some of these :P (no offense to the old vid makers, my vid looks like ass too)
For real though, if I clicked on the server and saw one of those I'd think "wow that looks terrible" lol they are just noobs runnin around crushing non custom zones with "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" playing behind it. /facepalm http://www.eqemulator.org/index.php?pageid=serverinfo&worldid=768 All of these are 6 years old (or around there) and don't even come close to representing what the server has evolved into. ;D Gogo Noot vids Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Noot on December 19, 2015, 12:47:05 pm Most major maps are done. I'm not flagged for Sunrock, and from the threads it seems terrifying. Now I'll switch gears and start working on videos.
Is there any changes you would like to be made to the Halloween Zone? I tried to remember the zone layout from the wire frame map. Also Diablo spawns in the middle with that portal.
Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Noot on December 19, 2015, 05:57:12 pm Making tunnels is annoying. Thanks for the correction.
Picture updated. Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Leis on December 19, 2015, 08:10:32 pm Thanks for taking the time to fix those up. The wiki looks awesome now!

I'm dealing with the beginning of my "busy season" with my job since January. I am traveling a lot so not much free time to work on these videos.
Enough with the excuses. The Crafters Guild video is finished and posted. Any critiques are welcomed. I credited the pdf and wiki in the description. Nothing Major, and nothing wrong, but just a couple of notes Install, Is assuming running on one computer, some may run on 2 so IP address would need to be addressed for EQBC, something that could be covered in advanced basic I probably would use /bca //tar ID ${Me.ID} for stick, rather than PC name, as could target a pet, if master has one up, (they do sometimes go their own way instead of following it's master ) or use /tar =noot as example to ensure it targets the PC not a pet Nice job Title: Re: EZServer HowTo: YouTube Channel Launch Post by: Loyal on March 25, 2017, 09:01:25 am Is assuming running on one computer, some may run on 2 so IP address would need to be addressed for EQBC, something that could be covered in advanced So i didnt know this was something that could be done. I mulled around trying to find extra info about EQBC and what it had to offer, but never came across this. I'll do some extended research and add it into the advanced video. basic I probably would use /bca //tar ID ${Me.ID} for stick, rather than PC name, as could target a pet, if master has one up, (they do sometimes go their own way instead of following it's master ) or use /tar =noot as example to ensure it targets the PC not a pet Nice job You're right about that. I wanted to introduce both ${Target.ID} and the regular /tar command but completely forgot about ${Me.ID}. Whoops! I'll see if I can incorporate it into the Advanced video. Very well done Noot! You are an amazing asset to our community. Knowledge is power! Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll be out of town this week on business so I'll have some time to start researching and developing the advanced script. Not sure how indepth your knowledge is on it. But info is a bit sparse atm. Looks like you can buy the base aug and upgrade it to level 2. But I saw someone update theirs to level 4? Wouldn't have even known that was a thing had I not seen the server spam since the item for upgrades just says "Takes a level 1 to a 2", doesn't really hint at anything further. Also having some info about useable levels for each aug level would be good. Wouldn't have even known that was a thing had I not seen the server spam since the item for upgrades just says "Takes a level 1 to a 2", doesn't really hint at anything further. Also having some info about useable levels for each aug level would be good. Sorry.
