Title: Monk epic 4.0 graphic
Post by: sohami on August 06, 2010, 01:13:26 pm
Im suggesting a new graphic for the monk 4.0... honestly, i dont want the same graphic for 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 4...

heres my suggestion:

Rune etched bamboo bo
(http://everquest.allakhazam.com/equipment/danapics/senate_rebb.jpg)

How BA would DW these be?

Always loved this item. Had one on live and by far my most favorite weapon graphic.

That's what im sayin' i'd be ecstatic if hunter made this the 4.0, dual weilding these would be so BA.

edit: i spose the name would have to change, too. I could come up with 50.

I loved REBBs on live I remember waiting for jiva to drop my REBB for about two months on live. As much nostalgia as it brings.. I'm going to have to say no I'd rather not have a REBB graphic for epic 4.0. It just is old and dated and even though I'm far from obtaining a 4.0 I still feel it should look like an elite best of the best weapon and not something that went to alt monks half a dozen years ago when they were rot status.

Sure, nulo, but keep in mind we have to use existing weapon graphics to work with. And ive searched far and wide, lo and behold this is by far the coolest.

unless you want a fighting baton? :P

You do have to use an existing graphic, but it doesn't have to be a monk graphic :)

It doesn't make much sense for a monk to be dual wielding 2hb weapons now does it? It may be just a graphic, but it would look pretty silly imo.

Sorry did I saw to do that? i just mean you can look to other weapons of other classes, you don't have to limit yourself to traditionally monk items.

Sorry I should have quoted the OP, that response wasn't directed at you.

Hmm.. didnt really think about that. I'll consider it, but the wep graphic should be monkly :)

Just because the original weapon graphic was a 2hb weapon doesnt mean it cant find its way to a 1h weapon..

Cane of tranquility? cracked staff? Lots of bo staff 1h's. Makes total sense. Tranquil Staff, same graphic but 2h. Really no difference.

I dont think people would be to happy that their 4.0 looked like a glorified Ontel GOP2-MC18/6 Gopher 2 Pick Up and Reaching Tool.

For those unfamiliar with the trash picker upper industry:

That graphic sucks and if you go play on KMRA its one you see way to much of.
Thanks for suggesting something but lets look elsewhere

Just went through the weapon graphics and for those visible to titanium I personally didnt see anything worth putting forward.
Maybe if you wanted to change the graphics for 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0 to the glowing balls and have each one be its own color.
Kind of boring.
couple nice graphics but they would be fuggin large as all hell for 1h weapons.

How about those glowing branches that earth avatars use in T3?

yea those are cool just seem more druid type then monk type.

/shrug

i have a feeling there will always be someone with a beef with a weapon look. honestly my vote is still with the original bo staff look, and monks are the killers in T4 so honestly 2x big oriental sticks of woop-ass aint a bad implementation imo. Would look awesome.

I don't think the graphics going to change though if we can't come up with a thread were everyone agrees on something. Yay for same graphic 1.5-4.0 :P

Just one request, no more weapons that flame/glow give off effects etc... Really creates lag. These axes create a ton of lag around groups of them.

War 4.0 graphic is nice, but i would have perfered to see it on zerker's 4.0.

There would be alot more interesting weapons graphics with more people using SoD.  :P

I stand by Crab with 4.0 graphics.
Having more then 1 warrior with 4.0's on your screen will just make you freeze all over.
There are nice "unique" looking weapons all over, just pick one without shinies please.
I would love a graphic overhaul of the current 4.0 warrior epic aswell, or at least a way to turn off the fire effects.
Little sparkles like the general PoTime era weapons is fine, but don't overdo it.

Thank you

i agree can only take so much particle effects.

Then turn particles down, it's not complicated.   ::)

I personally love uber weapons with particle effects.

I have all effects turned down. All the paladin glowy stuff is gone, warrior 4.0' look like two regular big axes to me, lol. I don't like seeing all that glowy stuff, I like seeing what is going on. From your sig it looks like everything is turned way up on yours Sohami. I imagine you would catch some serious lag in PoD and even worse in PoG.

Xiggie please post us your .ini file, because i have all turned off aswell, and still see the pally/war glows...

Thx bro

I would caution against actually replacing your ini file with mine. I do not know with other versions (I use SoF) and I am not sure if it has any effect on ui's. It would be better to use this as a guide to change yours. If anyone else has any further suggestions I would love to hear them. Always looking for a way to get a little more out of my eq.

Thank you for posting Xiggie, I will mess with mine later tonight and see if I can get the glow disabled.  Anything to get the most dps out of the epics without going through too much video lag.

I think your idea of any other performance saving tips would make for a great thread.

One issue though...

UseLuclinOgreFemale=TRUE

After forking a bit myself it's actually pretty easy...

Only 1 has to change

ParticleDensity=3 has to change to ParticleDensity=0

Thank you Xiggie :)

No problem at all. I went through and just started turning down everything. Was tired of getting blind spots on my eyes when I played my pally, lol. As for the ogre's the old models just look so stupid and ugly i could not handle it, lol.

Actually I'm going to have to derail this once again.  :)

Xiggie do you use wineq or anything like that?  I made the changes to my ini file in the eq directory but something with wineq is not allowing the changes to be applied when I load up my toons.  My warrior 4.0 graphics are still on.  I tried changing the ini to read only but that didn't seem to help.

I'm thinking it's wineq that's the problem.  Also when I go into wineq's settings I can either make it boot from the root directory of eq or if I take that out all together it loads a default boot with sound, all luclin models on.. things like that.

Looking for any thoughts on the issue.

Try firing up just regular EQ and see if you diagnosis is right.

I do use wineq and have not run into any problems like that. Most I use mine for though is the turning down frame update when in back ground. I read another post about win7 and possibly vista having virtual files. Are you using either of those OS?

Vista... so that might be the cause.

The other alternative is that the line that Del pointed out is not the only one that needs to be set to zero.  It could be a combo of factors.  I will continue to play with it and report back.

There are basically 6 lines that I changed when I turned everything down. I went in and bolded those lines so it would be easier to find them. Here is a link to the issue with W7. Not sure if it applies to vista but it might be good to look into.

It was the vista/w7 issue.  There is a 2nd ini file that is in the virtual store which is what needed the change.

Thanks again for the help.
