Title: How to get rid of 4.0 warrior epic glow and pet sword glow and paladin epic glow
Post by: Xiggie | Stone on August 25, 2010, 08:00:01 pm
I would caution against actually replacing your ini file with mine. I do not know with other versions (I use SoF) and I am not sure if it has any effect on ui's. It would be better to use this as a guide to change yours. If anyone else has any further suggestions I would love to hear them. Always looking for a way to get a little more out of my eq. The part that I changed to get rid of the glowing stuff is bolded and changed to green down below. Just locate the same section in your ini and change it to the same thing mine shows. The file you need to change is eqclient.ini (appears as eqclient). Don't confuse this with eqlsclient.ini as they are two different files with different info in them.

As always, before making changes to your files make a backup of the originals.

Can't u just go into Options (alt O) and turn down / off particle effects?  seems to work fine on Titanium / SoD, but i've never used SoF on EQMU.  Just a thought.

You can for the most part. But the 4.0 warrior graphics stayed on and the 3.0 pally wep glow stayed on. I have not tried it with titanium but I was under the impression that it was all clients.

Please pardon me if this is obvious to everyone else, but I am wondering why you want to get rid of the glow. Maybe I want to do it, but i need to know why.

Always looking for a way to get a little more out of my eq.
Here again, I am wondering what you mean by this please. Maybe I should be doing this to get more out of my EQ too, but what are we getting more of?

When on raids I get increased performance with lower graphics settings. When boxing even just a few toons the 4.0 graphics can really slow you down. Hell, even single boxing with a bunch of others who have glowy weapons can slow you down. So, reducing the graphics increases my gains out of each toon.

Yes you can go into the options but you can not get rid of the glowy unless you open the eqclient.ini and set that shit to 0.000
Setting it to zero inside the options actually sets it to 0.012 inside the eqclient.ini file
Hench you still got glow and lag.

Thanks for sharing this. Great information! Should help alot...

I'm wondering if you could help me out in testing it. I just need one toon with a 4.0 to test it. Would you mind dropping the 4.0 boss for me once so I can get my client working right?

Thanks.

Sure thing. I put him down and summoned his body to OOT. He is in the water.

Ok, i think changing the graphics for the Paladin 3.0 was dumb, no offense, but i liked it the way it was, and i dont think anyone was having that big of problems with lag with the particles, honestly, i think its being made into a big deal, i've been on a couple of raids and i have never had any kind of problems with it and im only rolling a 256mb dedicated ATI 4200 in my laptop, so i think this is kinda ridiculous that the sword graphic was changed

If you are running a 256 video card with glow settings on and did not get any lag it must have been a very small raid and you must not be boxing. I have 2 pc's and am down one video card, so my alt pc is running off the on board video card that is a 256. More than about 3 glow swords and I start catching lag while only single boxing. With as many people who voiced a problem and only one person saying there is no problem it seems pretty obvious that there was a problem.

I for one never complained about it but I will share my experience with the problem.  I have 5 warriors and one paladin in a group all with 4.0, let me tell you my pc went from fine to AMG I cant play this game!  It just lagged the shit outta me and I understand most of you dont have 4.0.  In due time alot more of you will be acquiring them and you'll see  what I'm talking about.  I hate my little 4.0 hatchets and wish they would look cool again.  I don't want some stumpy sword though, I need it to be big, rough, and raw baby.

Ok, gotcha, so do we have any newly proposed ideas for a 3.0 graphic?

Here is an idea for a pally 3.0, just a thought, not sure of the programming and stuff that goes into the graphics and stuff, so not sure if it would work

The "programing" is going into the database and slapping the IT number onto the item and rebooting the server :P

Btw that's also an SoD graphic.

I lol at how everyone refuses to use SoD and is so in love with their Titanium client yet they only post SoD graphics in these epic threads. Pure freaking irony...

Yes it is, thats race 564 (Siren) and weapon graphic 11298 (Gelidran/Discord War Sword)

What is SoD? i just started here a couple months ago, but im more than willing to upgrade to it from the titanium if it means wielding this weapon for a pally 3.0 lol, i also believe this is from riftseekers, not certain though

SoD=Seeds of Destruction. It used to be available on Steam, now only through Torrents. Obviously i can't give you a link though (rules) so good luck with Google :3.

Also no it isn't, it was made for SoD gear and LoN ornamentations.

*sigh* people don't read do they?

vvvvvvv

I have SoF and SoD client's , SoF works just fine but using the SoD client buffs don't show up and upon hailing the buff bot it shoots you across the zone 20k dmg.
Any ideas in getting this client to work? btw this is the correct steam version compatible with EMU.

No it isn't. Just by what you said i can already tell you're running Underfoot. You must have just recently bought SoD off Steam correct? Yeah that version is actually Underfoot (It SAYS it's SoD because it only flags Live accounts to use up through SoD content on Live, however it has up through Underfoot and is thus an Underfoot client.)

Only way to get SoD atm is Torrenting it sadly =/. Hang onto the client though. Underfoot is nearing compatability (as a matter of fact that buff issue should be fixed already, i don't think Hunter has updated source code in awhile.)

That's actually the Underfoot client. That client is the exact same as the other client (specified as Underfoot) on Steam, in fact check the "last updated" dates. Exact same day, exact same client.  The only difference is the price and the fact that the starter pack only gives you CD keys for Classic-SoD where as the Underfoot pack gives you CD keys for Classic-Underfoot. However all the client files are there and since EQEmu doesn't use CD keys like Live then someone using that client on EQEmu, once it's fully compatible, would have access to Classic-Underfoot content.

In short, no it's not SoD, it's Underfoot. The name is deceiving.

I think the pally 3.0 should just be changed to the 2.0 graphic, i really like the 2.0, and actually i like it better than the former pally 3.0,
