Any plans for a Halloween event this year?

I'm going to dress up like a high-elf and visit Felwithe and slaughter them all.. and loot the pp... er goodies. ;D

Oh Halloween events cant come soon enough I am so exciteded!  Now that I am not sick I impatiently await it.  Please Hunter start start start.

how do the halloween events here usually go?

Last year's event was a in a number of zones, usually the 'spooky' ones like Howling Stones or Estate of Unrest.

In those zones killing yard trash had a chance (don't remember the percentages) of spawning a Lvl 1 Boss.  If I remember correctly there were 5 potential Lvl 1 bosses (scarecrow, zombie and skeleton are the only ones I remember), each with the same characteristics.  Fairly easy to kill.  When dead they would drop a disguise (whatever boss they were), a stone to summon a familiar (same), and some candy.  Familiar is usable by any class, adds 1k hp and can buff its owner once every 5 minutes

After killing a lvl 1 boss, there was a small chance that it would spawn a Lvl 2 boss.  There were three of these (Tribunal, Solusek Ro and one I don't recall) and they were tougher, but one groupable.  Possibly soloable by the highest levels, but I needed a group.  Again, they would drop the disguise, the familiar and the candy.  Familiar adds 3k and buffs as above

Killing a Lvl 2 boss had a small chance of spawning the Lvl 3 boss (Cazic Thule).  At the time he was a multi-group boss with knock-back, death touch and a goodly number of HP.  The DT was once a minute and it took two to three groups of T1 equipped  toons a few minutes to drop him.  Same drops, but this familiar adds 10k hp in addition to being able to buff.

After 24 hours or so of random killing, Hunter added an NPC to Unrest.  If you handed this NPC one of the candies you got from your other kills he would either say Treat and hand you a random FG/CG item (anything but the Trak Idol or King Chest Cards), or he would say Trick and spawn Cazic Thule.

I must say, that was the most fun I'd had in a weekend on EZ.  That event ROCKED!

Sounds fun, I just hope he announces it here first to let people know when it starts and where to give all a chance.

At minimum I'll just re-enable the same script we ran last year for Halloween.

I noticed Halloween is offically on Sunday, so I might work on a new or similar script on my day off Saturday to be ready to run Sunday. If not, it'll just be same as last year.

Might need to make Cazic Thule harder now since we have T3/T4 people with super DPS. The T2 level bosses will probably remain the same since mainstream players are probably in PoD right now.

Aw man, lol dont make cazic T3/T4 str, How about....make public, instance 1 and instance 2 for cazic...Each lvl being Zombie =public T2 boss Str, instance 1 would be Soulsek Ro T3 boss str and maybe instance 2 cazic thule pet at T4 boss strength?

Im sure this will be alot of work and might not be worth it, but hey for all i know that takes 15minutes? lol just food for thought for all of us that can take down T3/T4 bosses just yet and would like a chance at a Pet :)

This is an example of me trying to be good.  Trying not to say anything negative.   Trying really hard. 

Is there anyway we could get Cazic Thule boss in an instanced zone?  I do recall there being a few problems last year and I can just see the wailing and gnashing of teeth its going to cause this year.   :o

Doesn't Unrest already have a 100k instance waypoint?

I dunno but am not sure about Fearplane.

One thing I didn't mention in my synopsis above, CT would also drop a complete epic book.  I want to say it was the 3.0 book, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Hunter, if you do increase the difficulty of CT, would you consider upgrading the book one level as a Risk/Reward balance.

CT would have to be really damn hard for it to be worth him dropping a 3.5.

Itd be nice if we could do it Saturday since I know my wife and kids nd Sunday they will not leave me alone!  If its for one day Im sure I can wake up early and get some playtime in before they get up. ;)

Last year's event was 2-3 days long, but if it's only a single day this year, I'll still be grateful for the fun!

In response to Demin's comment regarding CT dropping a 3.5 book, I understand where you're coming from.  Farming pages and then killing Shadow is a helluva grind!  I'm also not 100% sure it was the 3.0 book CT dropped.  If it was, however, this is a short term Event with some cool/fun rewards.  It doesn't necessarily need to be in that line of difficutly (if that was what you were thinking).  Last year, when Epic 3.0 and T2 armor were the best in the game and not many had that, CT was only killable by those who had already reached that point in the game.  If you were still farming Qvic, or Tacvi, CT was just too tough at least without a bunch of friends.  I would suggest that if CT's going to drop a 3.5 book, it should be with the same thing in mind.  If you can't farm HoH, and kill Shadow, CT should be too tough for you.

Interestingly enough, for the folks able to kill Cazic, the reward of the book was secondary.  It was the 10k familiar that they really wanted.  So high end guilds were calling out that if you managed to spawn CT, they would come kill it for you if they got the familiar and you got the book.  A bunch of people took them up on that offer.

I may be wrong but I swear it being like 4 days or 3 days at least?  I remember logging in every morning following Teehee around to get the rots.   :o  Now it's my turn to pay it back and help some nboobs get a pet or two.

Haha the event started on a friday where CT was broken and only had alot of HP. Saturday hunter came on and saw that this was the case and made cazic thule death touch every so often and aoe knock back. I think the event lasted till monday morning when the reboot hit.

I think there were only like 60-70 cazic thule pets.

What happened for the event though was the guild i was in would ooc that if someone popped CT(unless they knew it was coming they would die instantly.) and they sent one of us a tell we would kill it for them. We would take the CT pet and give them the 3.0 book for spotting it or telling us. So even if the 3.5 is tough if 4.0s are slaughtering it the books will eventually rot.

I think there were only 3 guilds that were killing it.

I would guess no on double loot weekend unless it was easy to exempt the pet dropping mobs from dropping double loot too.

Whats wrong with double pet drops? if Kronos can drop 2 class chests and 2 dragon class chests in 1 drop, why cant another boss drop 2 pets? :P

*shrug*  It seems to me like the pets are meant to be a little bit rare.  Double pet loot makes that less so.  Just my opinion.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this.. (ie... begged)  lol  But how about a pocket banker treat every once in awhile make the pocket banker drop. lol

Yeah even if it was just a double loot day on Sunday, just 24 hours from reboot to reboot.  I think I'd pee my pants cause that would be some fun mixed in with one of my favorite holidays of all time.  It would be nice if Hunter started the scripts tonight before he went to work, hint hint, please.  ;)  One day of craziness on Sunday is gonna be so much fun.  It'd be nicer to get two days crack at getting the cazic pets but if not Sunday will have to do, I'll just give my wife and kids some money and point them to the mall.  Yes I am gay for Halloween and Hunter.  :o

The Trick or Treat NPC is in Unrest. So if you get any candy, go see this Quest NPC.

I'm currently not adding any instances.

The biggest boss, Cazic Thule will be a server wide event when he eventually respawns. Beware, he shout kills a lot and has a lot of HP.

Here are list of zones in my code that have the Halloween Event enabled so far.

Oh yeah, pet script was swapped out with the Halloween script, so pets won't work like normal until after Halloween with things like buffs or Firebladesv2

Sorry for my whiniing I got so excited over this weekend and got tells that kinda put me in a bad mood.

WOW SOOOO MUCH FUN!, CT fight 2 group of fully t2 geared toons took forever to kill and the dt's ever few seconds made it awesome fight

Looks like I get to dust off good ole fraps.

This event has already turned people into zombies pulling way too many mobs.

Public Instances (x2) have been added to fearplane and unrest.

Instance also just added to ponightmare now.

Use "Waypoint Credit" instead of giving the guy money. Seems to be an issue with giving money and I haven't looked at the code yet since we got it for LDoN a while back.

Doesn't cease to amaze me how many people whine about something that costs them absolutely nothing.  I appreciate all the work that you have done Hunter.  Thanks for the FREE EQ and for a very fun server.  I do get aggravated at some people when I am camping to get an item and get KS'ed. This Halloween event could be very fun for everyone, if it were not for those that camp the whole zone with t3 toons boxing anywhere from 5 to 8 toons at a time.

For the most part what I have experienced is that anyone that I have been in zone with during the event has been polite and courteous.

The ubers have been nice enough to give rot rights to peeps that ask for help when they spawn CT.
Couple of them come when you send tell and give full loot with the exception of charms,  ok price to pay for me.

Anyways,this has been much more fun than EQ live events where only a chosen few get any good rewards.

So far I have made out with CT pet and Disguise full set of CG stuff and almost full set of FG stuff, bunch of plat from pouches, 6 oracle charm upgrades 3 guardian charm upgrades and a variety of t1-t2 pets and illusions.

I moved to instance one that was empty.

I love the custom'ness on EZ, I got my warrior a pet and a couple of illusions and had a blast!!

Can't wait for next year or if anything else comes up like this between now and then like the other week when 3.0 books where dropping in lesser faydark. It's quite funny to watch everyone rush the zone and kill everything in sight.

I never able to play on halloween event... since it's the birthday of me and my girl friend (being in couple).... each year i have to go in long week....

Halloween need to be an other day of the year !!

I really hope Hunter does Halloween Event this year. Last year's was great, but I was not geared up for it. You do a great job Hunter.

CT (tougher) with an even better reward.  Can't wait to see it!

Yes, we'll have Halloween Event again and I'm planning on a tougher boss than the Halloween T3 Cazic Thule, that will be a rare chance to spawn if you kill CT. Maybe the T4 Boss Familiar will have a bigger HP Buff like 25k or something. Expect it to be rare, and maybe only 10-15 people on the whole server might get one.

So if theres only 10-15 people that 'might' get something, does that mean its gonna be the people that already are uber or does someone that isn't in t5 gonna have the same chance as someone that has a 5.0 army? Just wondering if i should bother with event since im not one of the elite on the server.

Plus the new boss is a rare spawn off of CT, shrug like I said CT is going to give ya run for your money..

No that was pretty dick,but whatever its your server. I was just wondering if me being new to server if i would have a chance at getting something or if i should just enjoy my holiday. Whining isnt something i do. I was asking a pretty honest question sorry you think everyones whining when they mention 5.0 army maybe? Anyways i didnt post something to flame and see flaming just wanted to know if i would have a chance at a pet or if its more for the guys that have spent the last 1-3 years on the server. Like i said 'not whining' just 'wondering'. I like halloween but i also like gm events so wanted to weight my options. Figured i'd get a good answer not a flamed on post about me whining.. Some of the Halloween bosses are really hard, and some people can't even kill the ones they spawned. So its pretty much FFA. We have better instances this year than last year, so if you don't want to get KS'd then just do the event in your own instance.

Figuring a boss harder than CT, with AoE Shout Kill to everyone within 50' (Just outside melee range). So people would have to attack in groups / waves knowing the whole group is going to wipe out. Again, the range on the AoE Shout Kill be will be small that it'll only affect people within melee range. There is a flag too to prevent casters nuking unless your within melee range, so probably Rangers would be only class able to hit the thing from a distance. Would probably take a lot of people working together to kill this new boss I'm going to create.

Inspired by watching a live raid in Kael back in the days where 3 guilds of 50 people each took turns going in on the same boss and kept getting wiped out.

 No matter what the quest may be i know Hunter has my best intrest at heart maybe if those wizzys get layed out a couple of times instead of sitting in the balconys laughing at me they might quit complaining about me mixing there pink underwear with my white socks and the bleach bucket!!
