Title: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: Hunter on November 15, 2011, 03:27:44 pm
Please get a copy of Underfoot Client.

Hello everyone! I think the time is come to move on from Titanium. We have a lot of content already that is 100% compatible with Titanium, but future content will most likely be for SoD and higher. Actually, try to skip SoD and just get Underfoot. This will allow you to see and use new content in the future including new custom spells, new weapon graphics, and new zones. Suggested to get Underfoot.

In the future we might have 2 different spell files, one for Titanium, and one for SoD+ due to Titanium having a 9999 limit on spell ids.

Weapon Graphics. There is a way for both Titanium and SoD+ to upgrade their weapon graphic files so they can see all the new weapon graphics. I won't be able to host the actual files. I am assuming you'll need to get a copy of Underfoot client, or find someone that has the files, so that specific graphic files can be added to your Titanium or SoD. If you have Underfoot Client, then you shouldn't need to worry about the weapon graphic files, so get Underfoot! Its faster! And you'll get to visit more zones, and see more weapon graphics.

Your best bet is to just download Underfoot from Steam.

It seems there are so many benefits from upgrading your client, that it would be stupid not to do it. Here is a link explaining the different client benefits:

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ClientFeatures (http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ClientFeatures)

And below is a copy / paste of info on that linked page, just in case.

Each client that is compatible with EQEmu offers a different list of available features. Titanium is considered the base client for EQEmu, so its features are not listed here currently. For each later client, they include all features from their list as well as all features from previous clients unless noted otherwise.

Added in SoF:
1. 8 more bank slots for a total of 24 bank slots instead of the normal 16 from Titanium (tons of extra space).
2. Group member location markers on your in-game map (if you turn it on)
3. 60 page spell book (Titanium book is only 50 pages)
4. Better game lighting so you can actually see when playing human/barbarians/etc.
5. New Drakkin playable Race
6. 80 new zones
7. 250+ new weapon models
8. New Power Source Slot
9. Heroic Stats and Resists as well as other new stats like Heal Amount, BS Damage, Spell Damage, Etc.
10. Client handles level 70-75+ properly, where Titanium skills do not show up correctly.
11. 600+ New Item Icons
12. 113 new NPC Races
13. 10 Character Slots at Character Select as apposed to 8 in Titanium
14. The Loot All option now works when looting corpses.
15. Not restricted to a max spell ID of 9999 like Titanium is, which means that reaching higher levels with full spells is possible.
16. Zoning time is generally noticeably faster.
17. Updated classic textures. (Zones from Classic-Velious had their texture's modified to be 'clearer' and less fuzzy or pixelated. Making environments look much nicer even in old world zones)
18. Blocked Buffs feature allows buffs to be specified to be blocked.

Added in SoD:
1. The Group Window now shows Mana and Endurance bars for each of your party members in addition to the HP and Pet HP.
2. Dozens of new zones, new NPC races, hundreds of new weapon models and item icons.
3. Zoning time is generally noticeably faster.
4. SoD is more stable than SoF (by far) and even Titanium.
5. SoD has better multi-boxing support than SoF and Titanium, at least for Multi-Core CPU systems.
6. Platinum no longer adds weight to your character.
7. You can now see the buffs that other players have on them in the target buff window.
8. Most UIs (from 2009 to now work) with SoD with little to no extra changes needed.
5. You can now copy the UI setup from one character to another from in-game. This means you set 1 character up perfectly, and all of your other chars can just copy it.
6. You can set the frame rate of EQ windows running in the background, which makes boxing performance considerably nicer depending on how you set it.
7. You can re-size your window size to any size by stretching it like SoF, but in SoD, you can also lock the size so you don't accidentally re-size it.
8. SoD has multi-core support and works very well with modern PC hardware. It sets your first instance of EQ to only use 1 CPU core, and if you start a second instance of EQ, it sets it to the next available CPU core and so on, so it helps balance CPU load when multiboxing.
9. WinEQ is obsolete in SoD.
10. Facial features while using illusions works perfectly, where previous clients have minor issues with them.
11. Levitate no longer causes you to bob up and down and instead you just float there.
12. Holding down left click can now be used to rotate around your character while in 3rd person view, just like most current MMOs allow.
13. Revamped AA window (compresses AAs into 4 tabs. General/Archtype/Class/Special)
14. Blind no longer removes the UI.
15. Revamped item windows (clearer layout and the names of equip-able items are displayed in Red (if you can't equip) or Green (If you can equip) which takes into account your class/race/deity and level. Prevents the ever popular "Opps I looted it and can't use it LOL sorry" mistakes.)
16. Group leader's names are highlighted in green (If you're the leader your name in your personal info box, Alt+C, will be green.)
17. Higher Base HP/Mana/Endurance (scales with level) due to a change in the base HP/Mana/Endurance formulas.
18. Can equip items with level requirements at any level (However you get no benefits and if it's a weapon attacking something says the mob is 'invulnerable' and you can't use procs/clickies/focuses.)

Added in Underfoot:
1. Loads models/races etc much more efficiently. Drastically reducing RAM/CPU usage.
2. Revamped pet window. (Is now fully resizable and allows you to tie ANY pet commands into the hotbuttons, which there are now 14 hotbuttons on the window total, including AA commands such as /pet hold allowing you to save space on your hotbutton bars. Do this by right clicking a hotbutton and selecting a command from the pop-up window. New commands become available as AAs are purchased.)
3. In-Inventory Stats Tab that provides a very detailed breakdown of all character stats.

Awesome news Hunter!  This will go a long ways to improving the experience here on EZ.

For those looking for the a newer client Steam has HoT for $20.  Possibly cheaper during the upcoming black Friday sale.

After I don't know how many years, I decided to make my old account on live active again, just for giggles to see whats changed on live, etc.

I downloaded Underfoot with Steam. Then I copied an the un-patched Underfoot folder to a different folder.

Don't worry about any auto patching. The download from Steam will not update your client until after you download it, then run LaunchPad.exe, and log in with an active account. So until you log in Everquest with an active Sony account, it won't update yet. Copy the un-patched download to a different (backup) folder before logging in to do the EQLive patch.

You can log in with a FREE trial account to get the updates!

Then I patched the Underfoot in the steam folder, and mass copied all EQLive Patched Underfoot files into the un-patched folder, and selected to NOT over write any files, which can be done like this:

Select all files in the EQLive patched folder, and copy/paste them into the un-patched Underfoot folder. Then when prompted if you want to replace existing files, just set it to say no to all, so only the missing files will be copied. Then manually copy and replace the dbstr_us.txt file.

(http://i42.tinypic.com/velwlv.png)

... then ...

(http://i39.tinypic.com/2vculia.png)

I got the info from the link above from other people pointing us in the right direction.

The un-patched Underfoot folder + copied files ended up having 34 more files than the EQLive Patched Folder, and now has size 8.05 GB on un-patched folder vs 8.04 GB on EQLive Patched folder.

Don't forget to copy EZ Server files into the folder too.

Then, I wasn't able to log in. Found out that eqhost.txt needs to have 5999 instead of 5998.

Also, if your a GM, then don't forget your cshome files, omg I noobed it up and crashed.

I got in now, YAY! Loading times seem faster too.

Found an updated MQ2 version here : http://mqemulator.net/downloads.php (http://mqemulator.net/downloads.php)
(Don't forget to run as administrator to make it work)

Haven't tested either of them yet. I'm sure there are more out there as well.

Someone mentioned in game that you can sign up for a free trial account and download UF, not sure of thats the UF version needed but worth a shot.

Followed this all step by step, even moved the missing files one by one. At server select screen it is saying i have 0 of 0 expansions, when i click play it immediately blacks out eq and doesnt do anything after that.

Any clue?

Will the anniversary edition work or is it too old? The box has no listing of what exspansion it has on it.

Title: Re: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: Hunter on November 16, 2011, 12:52:29 pm
I think Anniversary is way old, and would not have the weapon graphics or zone files required for future content.

As far as my test for Underfoot, just a recap of what I actually did:

  • Used steam to download Underfoot.
  • Copied that everquest folder in Steam folder to a different folder, to keep an un-patched version.
  • Clicked LaunchPad.exe in the Steam/Everquest folder and used an Active Live Account to patch Underfoot. I am told a Trial account works too if you don't have an Active Live Account.
  • Then copied ALL files/folders from everquest in the Steam patched to the un-patched everquest folder, and said NO to overwrite files. This way it copied only the missing files.

Now, don't forget the correct port number in eqhost.txt needs to be 5999 instead of 5998:

Code:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5999

And don't forget EZ Server files (Spells / Zone Graphics)

It should work with that. It worked for me.

I made redundant backups. I have a:

  • Copy of Underfoot before patch
  • Copy of Underfoot after patch
  • Copy of Underfoot without patch, but copied over missing files
  • Copy of previous copy for my actual playing, to so previous copy doesn't get modified from player ini, ui, etc

I think i found the problem Hunter. From the looks of it you downloaded from steam on the 13th. I checked my dbg and found this on the first line

Code:
[Wed Nov 16 11:35:10 2011]00000:Starting EverQuest (Built Nov 14 2011 18:30:26)

Looks like they did update as of 2 days ago and therefore screwed up the download from sony.

Title: Re: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: Hunter on November 16, 2011, 01:20:39 pm
You might be right. I might have downloaded an un-patched version of Underfoot from Steam on the 13th which would have been the last day to get the correct version. So maybe torrent would be the only way to get a correct version now? I sure hope not, that would suck.

Anyone else can confirm or have ideas?

Hunter you have the version just before the new build correct? Any way you could get the newest one from sony and compare what they have updated or changed in the build? We might be able to just change some files back to the previous ones if the rebuild was not extensive and save ourselves from torrent only downloads

I'll have to find out some how what build / version I got. Maybe it would be as simple as replacing an exe file?

In your untouched steam download look at the dbg.txt and the first line will tell you the date that it was built. I'm just about done getting the other one from the torrent and we are gonna go over the files and see what is the difference between the two tonight.

The download that is unpatched and without added files doesn't have it, but the one with the added files had the file in the log folder, and says this:

[Tue Nov 15 22:13:21 2011]00000:Starting EverQuest (Built Jun  8 2010 16:44:32)

Okay, that is the correct build that has been on steam forever that currently works with eqemu, the downloaded one as of now that comes from the trial account was updated Nov. 14th, so it is no good unless the eqemu admins update to that build.

I'll continue to seed the missing files I put together, but something doesn't seem quite right still. Stable at any rate, love the performance boost, but the little quirks have been driving me mad.

So far our content up to T5 is 100% compatible with Titanium. How long does it take for a new player to get max T5? A year?

Anyways, the next custom content might start off using SoD zones, and slowly work our way to Underfoot. Heck, by time I reach Underfoot zones for new content, I bet a new latest client will be available by that time.

So for a while, you'll still get away with Titanium for a bit. Still good idea to upgrade soon though while you can, or by now, if you can.

I know people were freaking and and feeling they need to quit cause of the new Underfoot request. If your a noob (which you most likely are if your freaking out) then Underfoot won't be a major concern for a while until you get full T5, maybe full T6, which is a long ways off.

Still worth getting if you can due to all the benefits, including alternate weapon graphic choices I'm going to do soon.

They updated the Steam download?  Heh, I guess I will get it updated on mine and start working on it.  I can't tell for sure from the posts here, but it sounded like the person/people saying it was updated may have possibly logged into their temporary Live account and patched to Live, which will break EQEmu.  The folder needs to be an unpatched fresh download from Steam, which you then need to make a copy of so it doesn't get patched at any point and run from the copied folder.

Anyway, if VoA is on Steam, we will start working on it soon and should hopefully be able to make some good progress fairly quickly unless there were a lot of things that were changed considerably.

BTW,  I checked Steam and it still hasn't update the client to VoA yet, it is still the UF client for all versions/purchases of EQ available on Steam.  I don't even see VoA listed as an option to purchase from Steam yet.  They probably won't update the download until they have VoA available for purchase on Steam (just my guess).

So, anyone who tried getting UF/HoT from Steam and are getting the 11/14/11 client, that means you patched it to Live by logging in with your temp account you got with the purchase.  You can simply delete the EQ folder in your steam folder and download it again WITHOUT patching this time and it should work fine.  Just remember to copy that folder out to another location so it doesn't get updated and remember to follow the playguide on EQEmu here to set it up:

The link from the pirate bay works just fine but you also need the missing files torrent as well listed in this thread.

The build of the pirate bay torrent is the same as Hunter listed.  Same exact file sizes of the patched and unpatched folder listing he posted on the 1st page.

'Do Not' Update this on live!  It does not need it.  If you update it, it will update it to the november build.

1. Download the pirate bay torrent for underfoot (there is only 1 listed).
2. Download the missing files from the torrent link from this thread.
3. Copy missing files into your underfoot folder.  (some are already in the torrent but some weren't).
4. Copy EZ server spells and zone files to the directory
5. Change the eqhosts file to appropriate host name and (5999 for the port)
6. Add the 'patchme' to the shortcut.  (if you don't you will receive errors saying to please run the .exe again).

Log in and play.   You do not have to go to akkas fun house or anywhere else for that matter.

Only thing that sucks is redoing your UI's.   I already rebuilt it for a couple of my guys but not for all of them.   Can you copy UI's from an older build of eq?  or will they possibly not be compatible with the underfoot build?

They may or may not be compatible, but you won't know unless you try.  I don't use a complete interface replacement, but I have a couple of window replacements that I use and they work with both SoD and Underfoot.

Hi Drep,

I confirm,  UF works great for me  :D

Only one problem, torrent for 'missing files'.  It's says 'problem connecting to tracker'  Any ideas ?

Alrazor

No clue.  I just tried it and it connected fine on udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce and downloaded in about 9 minutes.   Are you using the torrent that was linked on the first page?( http://tiny.cc/kt52s)    I'm also still seeding it.  Will probably just keep seeding it for a while.

This sounds great to me.  Would the AA's up to underfoot be added?  It would be nice to have the seprents spines non-custom zones available to level through 1-70 as an alternative, especially for ROA.

Our PEQ database is over 4 years old. I'd have to add the spawns.

Ah I see, but it would give more options for custom content?  That would be cool too, I like playing on EZ because I can play in some raid zones I never got to see as a casual like Qvic.

When I go onto steam and search 'everquest' I see several versions, it looks like underfoot is still there.

I use underfoot, but I don't know how to do torrent.  If anyone else is looking I could get them a copy of my ez folder if they have any other ideas how to do it.

To download a torrent, you need a torrent client.

I use the utorrent client. I like it, and its free.

http://www.utorrent.com/ (http://www.utorrent.com/)

Then after its installed, it will be the program/window showing download status when you click the links on the pirate bay to download.

Been playing on EZ for a few months now, finally posting on the forums because I had a similar problem to Bladethorn and it was not obvious what was going on.

What it turned out to be for me was some kind of decompression issue.  I had extracted UF using the win7 build in decompression, but on to a compressed volume.  I finally used 7zip to decompress it, and on to an uncompressed volume, and the problem went away.  I dunno which of those things made the difference.

You probably want to make sure to copy your SoD folder out of the Steam app folder if you haven't done that already.  Then, you should be able to just log into Steam using the steam app and it should let you update from there.  If not, you can always delete your EQ folder in the Steam app folder and when you log into Steam you can re-download the whole thing which should put you back to UF for now.  That should work at least until they update to VoA, which could be any time now.

Hi drep,

Concering your explanation for installing UF, everyting is OK.  But you can also add that you have to download to mapfile from Mapfiend and copy it in the mapfile of UF, otherwise the maps shows only the mobs and not the walls (when using MQ2).

It is all covered here:

You copy your other client files into your UF folder and also update your custom files to there as well.

The supported Underfoot client is the one from Steam.  I'm not sure if the one from Direct2Drive is the same or not.  You can verify what you have here: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ClientVersions

If what you have doesn't match that date/time then you're probably out of luck as the client/server opcodes probably do not match.

You can just copy your dbstr_us.txt from your previous client if you still have it.  That should resolve most issues, though the Live or SoD one may be a bit better.

Title: Re: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: lerxst2112 on January 23, 2012, 07:28:40 pm

Even though people may call it HoT, it's still the Underfoot client.

You can get all the files you need from a trial client.  Instructions here: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=UFMissingFilesList

Title: Re: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: Lucadian on January 23, 2012, 08:56:53 pm
To better elaborate... it IS HoT. You can zone into HoT zones (cannot do that with UF), but the core files are still UF... It's a bunch of complicated nonsense, but in short.... The "HoT" version has the HoT zones, the UF does not.

Title: Re: Please upgrade to SoD+
Post by: lerxst2112 on January 23, 2012, 09:23:09 pm

Sorry, but you are incorrect.

It is the Underfoot client with the additional files added from a live client, including the HoT zone files.  The same files you would get if you followed the linked instructions using the trial client.

If you would like to verify this for yourself, you can find information about the supported clients as well as instructions for identifying your client here: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ClientVersions

the "HoT" client sucks anyway -- Gnomes run stupid, and its the worst clients for lag problems even with settings turned down. Just get UF from Steam.

I happen to know exactly what the HoT version contains. :)

Then you would know it's not "a bunch of complicated nonsense", it's just a copy/paste from an updated source client into the UF folder without overwriting anything and then overwriting the dbstr_us.txt file with the updated file.

Perpetuating the idea that it's HoT and somehow magic just confuses people that don't know what MQ2 or interface files to use and think that downloading another 7+ GB of files will solve their problem when all they need is to download the trial and follow those instructions.

*shrug*  Makes no difference to me.  I'm perfectly happy with my Underfoot client that I updated myself from live.

Oh, undoubtedly it's easier to just update from a live version if you have it. I never meant to argue that point. Honestly, I hadn't read above your post about UF/HoT so admittedly I wasn't completely sure what the context of your post was about. My bad. :)

As an official purchase, I think yes the only way is through steam, not disc.

There are of course other websites you can find downloads of it at or someone willing to share. Personally I paid for mine since I want to make sure its a clean copy so my PC don't accidently get hacked and have our database compromised.

There is no HoT client compatible with EQEmu as has already been mentioned.  The latest compatible client is still the UF client.  It may be a bit confusing due to the fact that you can get to HoT zones while using the UF client.  The reason for this is due to when the UF client that Steam has was built.  Underfoot was actually released on Live on 12/15/2009.  I am not sure of the date, but shortly after that Underfoot was made available for purchase on Steam.  At that time, when you downloaded Underfoot (or SoD or SoF), from Steam, you actually still got the SoD client.  Steam always uses the same download for all EQ client purchases.  Then in June, Steam suddenly started sending out a new client version for all EQ client downloads.  This was what we now refer to as the Underfoot client, and it has a build date of 6/8/2010.  The Underfoot client does include the HoT zones and can access them because it was built very late during Underfoot before HoT was officially announced.  The HoT client wasn't released on Live until 10/12/2010, and there are no client builds from that date or beyond yet that are compatible with EQEmu.  Hopefully VoA will go up for sale on Steam at some point, and hopefully they will get a solid and complete client added to Steam so we can start working on making it compatible with EQEmu.  Either way, there has never been and probably never will be an official "HoT" client for EQEmu.  We did have a Live patched version of HoT that was semi compatible at one point, but it was never completed and has since been removed from the project.

I'm just simply saying that the build I am using was built by a couple of my friends and I. It's mostly a HoT build and it was made available for awhile, but we quit streaming it a few months back.

Sorry but i am calling bullshit here. If you and your friends built a version it would not fit the emu project. Not only that but there would be no versions of mq2 that worked for it. The most anyone can do as far as customizing a build is adding zone files as has been mentioned. But also as have been mentioned the base in which you started would have to be one of the 4 client supported. If you had the hot client it would not fit the emu unless emu did what it takes to support it.

Okay.. say what you want. But there is some server on emu that when you hail some bot it tells you what client... as soon as I updated from the steam version of UF to the HoT version.. it changed from saying "You are currently running UF." to "You are currently running the House of Thule."

The #cvs command would show Underfoot, because that's what it is and the code the server uses to communicate with it.

The response you get from hailing an NPC is something that the server developer coded in Perl.  It could say you were running the Super Banana Hammock client if that's what they programmed the response to say.

Looked into it a bit more and I guess HoT wasn't removed from the project after-all.  I thought Derision had removed it when he removed the Live patch files.

Here is a list of all patch files that include all of the clients compatible with EQEmu as well as some that were partially worked on and never completed:
http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk%2FEQEmuServer%2Fcommon%2Fpatches

Note that HoT is listed in those patch files, but so is Anniversary and the Anniversary client was never even able to log into EQEmu at all.  It is probably only left there as a reference, but could really just be deleted completely.  Even though the HoT client is listed there, it is a specific client version from a certain Live patch date sometime last year.  It wouldn't be playable at all.  At best, I think you could log in with it and move around.  Here is a link to the .conf file for HoT that includes all of the opcodes for it:
http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/source/browse/trunk/EQEmuServer/utils/patch_HoT.conf

Notice that most of them are set to 0x0000, which means we don't have them identified for that client yet.  Then, compare those to the results from one of our compatible clients such as Underfoot:
http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/source/browse/trunk/EQEmuServer/utils/patch_Underfoot.conf

In that file, almost all of the opcodes are defined correctly.

If a server identified you as running the HoT client, then the dev for server you were on didn't know how to use the GetClientVersion() command.output properly.  The "HoT" client for EQEmu would be missing so much stuff and would be so buggy that it wouldn't be playable at all.  I would be surprised if you could see any items or NPCs.

I am not trying to start a debate/argument here.  I am just trying to give the facts that I am aware of.

The HoT patch source files weren't deleted, but the registration is commented out.

Code:
void RegisterAllPatches(EQStreamIdentifier &into) {
Client62::Register(into);
Titanium::Register(into);
SoF::Register(into);
SoD::Register(into);
Underfoot::Register(into);
//HoT::Register(into);
}

void ReloadAllPatches() {
Client62::Reload();
Titanium::Reload();
SoF::Reload();
SoD::Reload();
Underfoot::Reload();
//HoT::Reload();
}

I'd be careful downloading from Amazon.  In the past their downloadable clients haven't been compatible with the emulator.  I don't know about those two specific downloads, but based on track record I wouldn't trust it.

The DL from Amazon is not compatible.  I tried it and ended up getting a refund.  Steam was the only one that worked and as stated many times before it requires some patching before it works as intended.

It looks like it is just a folder with all the files in it.  How do you "install" it so that you can run all the patches, etc that Hunter explains above?

There is no setup, its just the EQ client folder zipped up. So once unzipped, place that folder where ever ya want ,get the updated spell file dropped in, create a shortcut to eqgame.exe,  put the patchme in it and have fun !

edit:
 The version of SoD needs it's eqhost modified for EQEmu, from hates site.
The UF client already has it ready for EQEmu I think. If you going to d/l one get the UF client.

Ok... did what you said and I got an error when I clicked on the altered eqgame.exe icon...

"The procedure entry point ??0nsGetInterface@@QAE@PAVnsISupports@@PAI@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library xul.dll."

What the heck does that mean? LOL!

Again... this is the downlaoded Everquest_Underfoot_Steam.zip file.  I extracted the files into the C:\Everquest folder, changed the eqgame.exe shortcut with the patchme and changed the eqhost file to eqemulator.net:5999

Thanks again...

 I think the missing files where put into Hate's listed UF client already. I'm not positive on that tho. As for the error I have no clue man, sorry.

 Delete the folder and try it again, something may have corrupted. I used the one off Hate's list with no problems. Unzipped, sent shortcut to desktop from the folder, added the patchme to the shortcut, checked the eqhost and was set.

"The procedure entry point ??0nsGetInterface@@QAE@PAVnsISupports@@PAI@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library xul.dll."

What the heck does that mean? LOL!

xul.dll is part of Firefox and other Mozilla based browsers.  EQ has a version of the browser embedded in it to display things like customer service, station cash stuff, etc.

The error generally this means that somewhere on your system there is another xul.dll file that is being loaded first that doesn't have that function exported, probably in your Firefox directory, but maybe other places as well.

Luckily there's a way to find out where the errant dll is hiding.  Download dependency walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/), run it, and drag and drop eqgame.exe on the window.  It'll probably spout some errors at you, but that's ok you can just click the box away.

Then, in the upper left pane that shows a tree of things that are loaded right-click something and pick collapse all, then click the + next to eqgame.exe.  You should see xul.dll in the list somewhere.  Click it then press F9 and it will show you the path of the loaded file.  If it isn't the one in the underfoot directory then that's the problem.

To fix it, you need to stop it from loading that dll first which can be complicated.  The easy fix is to just rename the file to something like xul.dll.old and repeat the process with dependency walker until the file that's loaded is the one in the underfoot directory.  The hard part is figuring out what those other xul.dll files belong to if it isn't obvious from the directory they are in, and to figure out if you actually need them or not.  The things I would check is to make sure your PATH doesn't include any of the directories where the other files are, and if the file is in Windows or Windows\System32 you can probably delete it without any ill effects, but it's hard to say.

Downloading a different version of the client is unlikely to fix it, since they all came from the same source initially, and they all have the same xul.dll file in them

Well I d/led Hate's version and ran it and I was able to connect to the server.  My characters were there waiting and I got into Surefall.

Only thing now is I have absolutely no sound.  Visually and gamewise everything else looks okay.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Rob :)

Underfoot Files 2.0
http://tiny.cc/b0paew

This is a more comprehensive collection of missing and commonly broken Underfoot files than the previous release. It is made up from files from various past EQ installs and Akka's UF release as well. If you're having difficulty with your current install this just may have what you need.

Tested on Windows XP, Vista, 7 with various Underfoot distributions including those one might find in one convenient download on the piratebay..

I'm going to stop seeding the original Underfoot Missing Files that was available here, please PM or message in game with bug reports.

I tried all weekend to DL the files from hate's lists and kept getting the same error saying can not open the file as archive. I'm currently downloading the game from soe now to see if i can get that to work. Got a hankerin to come back and play a little.

If anyone could help with the error message of post a missing files list for the DL of live I'm doing now that'd be great. Thanks.

Did you open the read me file on my site? Everything is pretty much explained there.

If you have an error message, please post it completely word for word. Simply "I got an error" isn't helpful in figuring out WHY you got the error. :-P

Did you download everything? All 14 files?

Next, are you using 7zip or winRAR to extract it?

Now we're getting somewhere. You downloaded all 14, trying to extract using 7zip, and used password "ezserver" on the archives?

You aren't trying to extract into Program Files are you?

I tried to extract them into my games folder, that's not in program files. I was never prompted to use the password, but will try that when i get them all downloaded again.

Are each of the archives ~399mb or some such? If you were never prompted then the download(s) failed.

Yes, all but the last file was ~399mb. I haven't had the time to download them all again yet. Real life kicked back  in after the weekend, but i'm DLing 8 atm. Slow DL speeds around 140kbps so they each take a while.

Files 2-7 so far just look like blank sheets with an earmark on the upper right corner. Number 1 has the old windows screen in it with a red and a blue object in it(look like tetris peices).

Are you using 7zip to extract or just double clicking the files? If it is failing this hard, you may need to open 7zip, then select the file through 7zip's menus. Should that fail... I've got nothing immediately that I can try.

I've tried both ways. Neither worked. I did unzip the files that i had for titanium succesfully, so i know the 7zip works.

7,8,9 done, about to start 10, should be able to set up 11,12,13 to finish over night and get 14 done when i get home from work tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help.

Well, finished the downloads last night and finally got home from work. It's extracting the files now. Seems all I needed to do was put in the password. I feel like a tard. Thanks for all your help.

Once I get get back in, I can take some good notes. Issue seems to be no matter what screen resolution I select, it appears stretched.. like it's not normalizing. I don't have the problem when running Titanium. I've tried ensuring that I am running everything in windowed mode, but doesn't seem to help. I will get some more specifics on steps I've taken and re-post. Thanks guys... I really want to get out of Titanium.

if your using IS, make sure you have the eqclient setup under your character correctly in IS. Your problem probably stems from having the game resolution vary too much from your IS main window resolution. What screen size are you using for your main window and what size is your monitor and how many are you boxing?
