Title: Custom EZ HUD mod
Post by: Dimur on February 29, 2016, 09:50:31 pm
I've been using a modified version of the HUD for mq2 and some people have asked about it so I'm going to post a link to it here along with a few pictures.

HUD stands for heads-up-display and is a feature built into mq2 to be able to display item or mob status persistently so you don't have to type the command every time.  If I want to know how many essences from T8 I have in my inventory, I could /echo ${FindItemCount[Essence of Temple Veeshan]} and have it display the number in my mq2 window or open my bags and check, but with mq2hud I can just tell mq2 to display the count for me so it's always there.  You can also check your bank slots the same way with a different command, but I put that into the HUD already.

Each custom tiered progression zone in EZ requires you to collect certain items, kill certain mobs, etc to progress through it.  Keeping track on one character is tedious enough, but it's a real pain in the ass to track it across groups of alts.  This custom HUD will track those items for you. Let's take Qvic for instance, you have to loot all those tokens and if you're doing it for a group of alts and loot out of order it's a pain in the ass to have to open bags and mouse over each one to see which one you are missing.  The HUD will look for the tokens by name in your bags and bank and you can figure out which one you are missing.  Gems are much the same way in Qvic when you are making armor, so these are tracked for you as well.  Each custom zone should have it's own tracking queries set up already, if there are suggestions on how to make them better please let me know and I'll do my best to modify it and keep it as functional and efficient as possible.

One thing to note, I've been using these customizations for over a year now and there was always an issue on RoF2 where some characters would have to turn the zone HUD off or they would crash and be unable to load in. I recently asked Blarr to help me figure out why this was and he identified the issue and it was relayed to Maudigan at mqemulator.net for review.  Maudigan patched a fix for the crash issue, which he dubbed as a Band-Aid fix because the bank query just tells you the contents of the bank and not shared bank as well, but I don't keep anything of consequence in there anyhow so it's functional for all I need.

AGAIN, YOU MUST HAVE THE LATEST ROF2 MQ2 compile from mqemulator.net or this WILL likely crash your characters.  If your character does suffer this issue you can either delete the mq2hud.ini file or scroll all the way down to the bottom of it and find where it lists your character's settings, on the one that crashes set zone hud to off and you will be able to load the character again. GET THE LATEST COMPILE and this will not be a problem for you.

I'll list the contents of the working HUD mod in a text file, simply copy the entire contents and go to your mq2 folder, find mq2hud configuration file (it'll say it's full name as mq2hud.ini if you right click it and scroll to properties) and open it, delete the existing contents of it and paste the contents from the modified HUD link.  Go into the game and the HUD should display zone specific information for the zones contained within it.  If you don't see anything, don't panic...make sure you have mq2hud plugin loaded and if it still doesn't appear, try pressing F11.  F11 will toggle the HUD information on and off.

This is currently set to be used in a 1920x1080 format.  It can be altered to fit any setup, so if there are requests for different resolutions I'll do my best to get it working for you.  I also use the /viewport command to block off the part of the screen the HUD is on so it doesn't get drowned out by the zone graphics.
/viewport  148 0 1772 1080
This should work for most people and only chops off a bit of the screen, I put some of my UI pieces there to keep them out of my way as well.

This is pretty damn cool. I have not played with mq2hud but feel motivated to after seeing this. I have macros that can report this stuff normally.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with this. I see no issue with this HUD, so long as it's not actively spamming server with /tar commands or something equally lagtastic. Otherwise:

That GM check... lol

My hud was designed by a bad kid that played on p99 so it has one (I was a good kid and never ran it on my days of p99, just used it here) haha.

I need a bigger screen! and a bigger boat! and a bigger.......nm

Yeah I'm still on the old 22" screen, thinking of getting a 27" so when that happens I will look back into this. I used to use it back in the day and it was awesome, just seemed crowded on the screen size.

Do what the wife and I did....find a solid 1080 flatscreen, say 39 to 42 inches, with a decent rate. The claims that monitors give better opic quality arent always true....it depends on your flatscreen HDTV and how you set it up. BUT....make sure its at least a 1080. 720's will be shitty pic.

I splurged this last black Friday and got a cheap 50 inch 4k tv that I'm using as a monitor and I couldn't be happier, so much real estate.

This is through newegg, but for some reason going directly to their site wont find you this deal anymore (I got the same TV for this price Black Friday).  I love it, works fantastic.

My wife is using this Vizio: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889262403 and she loves it.

If ya check around you can find some pretty decent deals on 1080 or 4K screens that will perform at least as well as monitors.

Updated the original link to make the HUD useable in any resolution due to feedback concerns.  It'll now start in the upper left corner of the UI and display vertically as opposed to being positioned on the bottom left corner.  Again, make sure you have the latest mq2 compile from mqemulator.net to avoid problems with bank count display.  Also, please feel free to leave feedback concerns on the thread so they can be addressed.  This is a community mod and I'd like to make it as helpful to the community as I can, so if there are things that need to be added or adjusted let me know.

ok so i downloaded a new macroquest ez pack and am using this UI...its nifty..

but i miss my old one that had the other 12 toons hps/mana/pets and what they had targeted or where casting...

they both occupy the same space on the upper left hand side of the screen...

any way we can have both?

I am not one with the code enough to figure this out without MUCH guessing and pain.

Sure Hurty, where would you like positioning done for elements?  Do you want the zone specific information moved or do you want the 12 toon info moved?  You can put them anywhere on the screen and I'd be happy to do the legwork if you know where you'd like things placed.

that would be awesome!

you can have the entire left side of the screen sir!

Thanks Dimur this is awesome - except mine looks like this for some reason.  ???

Where can we get the code for hp/mana/pets/targets/casting?

Thats just a typo

change the last 2 lines in the temple veeshan section from
Code:
spawn18    =  3,2,5,20,0,240,0,${If[${Spawn[Jorlleag].Name.NotEqual["NULL"]} && ${Spawn[Jorlleag].Type.NotEqual[corpse]},Detecting - ${Spawn[Jorlleag].CleanName},]}
spawn19    =  3,2,5,35,0,240,0,${If[${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].Name.NotEqual["NULL"]} && ${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].Type.NotEqual[corpse]},Detecting - ${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].CleanName},]}

to
Code:
spawn18    =  3,2,5,440,0,240,0,${If[${Spawn[Jorlleag].Name.NotEqual["NULL"]} && ${Spawn[Jorlleag].Type.NotEqual[corpse]},Detecting - ${Spawn[Jorlleag].CleanName},]}
spawn19    =  3,2,5,455,0,240,0,${If[${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].Name.NotEqual["NULL"]} && ${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].Type.NotEqual[corpse]},Detecting - ${Spawn[Lady_Mirenilla].CleanName},]}

Looks like you have the MQFPS counter over the Spawn Alert

Thanks Chieftan

Also I'm getting an error with mq2test now says out of date with respect to mq2main

Yep, sorry about the typo. I'll fix it and let me know if there are more, quite possible since I adjusted the coordinates manually to move elements to make it useable regardless of resolution.

I made my own version combining Dimur's with Reddwarfs. I made red's font smaller and put his toon data below the zone data, also removed some stuff I didn't like.

Update: added another version (the bigger file) with 18 toons instead of 12. I put these in a good spot for me below my target box and to the right of Dimur's counter but they can be moved.

Nice Godtank, it's a fun mod to play with and customize and I'm glad you agreed.  Could I trouble you to post a screenshot of yours?  I love seeing what people do for their HUD stuff and even mitigate parts of what I like into mine.

Title: Re: Custom EZ HUD mod
Post by: warrior5 on March 14, 2016, 12:51:31 am
This is what I am using currently. I didn't add extra black with viewport because I'm trying to maintain space for other stuff. I also use fairly low res 1920x1080. I'd like to add accurate hp count and mitigation %. I'm using sars41713 for skin. This setup is nice because the loot counter is primary with toons afterward and you can fit 18 without overlapping spell cast.

Yeah, UI is personal taste kind of thing, and thats a bit too busy for me.

Mine's still pretty busy but with minimalistic approach, and have gotten some good ideas from other people for mods that I keep incorporating into it.

I like this HUD and have been using it this past weekend. The only problem I am having is it loads on all 12 of my boxes and really lags the hell out of EQ.  I have my main char on a mostly full client and the other 11 on a skinny client. Is there a way to run the skinny 11 without using this hud and still be able to control them from my main? I'm not sure it's possible to run 2 MQ2 Inis at the same time without there being confusion between the clients. Anyway, great work on this and thanks to all the contributors.

Yeah, there are settings for each character that you can set to enable or disable specific elements of the HUD.  At the very bottom of you mq2hud settings file, all the characters that have loaded in while the plugin has been running will be listed with the settings assigned to them.  Scroll down to the characters that you want to disable the HUD on and their settings will look something like:

[Dimurwar_EZ (Linux) x4 Exp]
Last=Elements
SkipParse=1
CheckINI=10
UpdateInBackground=on
ClassHud=on
ZoneHud=on

Just manually edit the on to off on all but your main character and you should be good to go.  A couple people said they get laggy when running the HUD on multiple characters so hopefully this can help them.  I don't experience any stutter with it though so I never considered the ini edits for background characters, sorry.

That helped quite a bit. Still a hiccup here and there but, way more playable.  Running at 2560 x 1440 so, don't expect that it'll ever be totally smooth.  Thanks again for the help.

I run that res now, and can pull a zone without issue

I don't know if it will help, but try this on alts
/hud off
/net on send on grab off

So hud is off, and they aren't collecting data from others, but still send info to main

Worth a shot

Gave those commands a go and they didn't turn grab off. They ended up turning off NetBots completely. After issuing, I got a message in each boxes MQ chat window that said ----MQ2NetBots:: (off) Grab (on) Send (on)---- The only way I could isolate turning off Grab was to change each toons INI manually. After that, grab was off and send was on. Unfortunately, I didn't notice any difference.  Barring something screwy there, i don't think my PC should have any trouble running 12 at that rez. I have an i7-4790 with 16 GB RAM and a gtx-960 card. My memory usage never goes above 50% and my CPU barely hits 20%. I'm hard wired to a 22 Mbps internet connection.I am running Win10 so, maybe there is something there.  I had little to no trouble until I tried this HUD so, it is perhaps that I am just SOL.  Too bad as I like it a ton. As a side note, using the custom HUD posted by Nerdx here on this forum gave me some lag but, as it's not polling for so much info, it seems to be a lot more manageable.  Guess I'll just stick to that one for now.

Thanks for the tips.

Gave this a go and it's pretty solid so far. Just causing my 5th and onward boxes to crashes so I have to turn off HUDs on everyone but main controller.

I have the latest MQ2 files, today as of this post.

EDIT - Mission aborted, causing 20 FPS dropped. At least in ToFS it did.

The hud files still available for download somewhere? google drive link asking for permission and doubt the user is still active.
