1  General Category / General Discussion / Re: What video card? on: March 03, 2011, 04:26:09 pm
AMD Phenom II Quad 3.4 GHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Geforce GTX 460 (around 5-6 months old? with MSI afterburner, the fan speed can be auto adjusted according to temperature to your liking.)  Can't hear this thing over my aftermarket CPU heatsink running at 40% speed.

I run EQ at 1600x900 in windowed mode (pre-luclin models, everything on high with spell particles off), boxed up to 12 with no slow down, each client uses about 500MB of RAM.  With 12 clients up, CPU usage is about 50-60%.  Video card stays relatively cool, in the winter (Florida) it runs at around 40C, and saw 55C yesterday when room temperate was the boiling point of water.......

with the experience of an hour and a half that I spent there, I have to agree with what Pimpn said about the corals, they are indeed a pain.

Funny story:

Regular mobs took around 2-3 minutes to kill which wasn't bad, but then all of a sudden, I see my characters' HP going down fast with no knowledge of aggro anywhere, its not until 1 character died with another on the brink of death, that I found out that a coral has aggroed from 400 yards away and shooting arrows that hits for 80k or more.  So I tried to find it in the murky water without aggroing any other mobs in the process; keep in mind that 1 of my 2 pal has died from an unknown cause and now I am in panic mode and scrambling to find the mob to kill before it wipes me.  I swam to the location of the coral indicated by the MQ2 enhanced map, meanwhile the characters that are still alive are having a hard time to get /stick to agree with water.  So Where is the mob? I'm right on top of it, or at least that's what the map tells me......I looked up and down left to right and didn't see any mobs with the name coral above its head (I feel really stupid now that I'm looking back).  OH HERE IT IS! its just a coral looking static graphic sitting at the bottom of the lake staring directly at me, and it has hidden its name somewhere in limbo.....how deceitful.   By this time all my healers were dead and a wipe ensued.

I don't know, maybe the whole no name thing for (insert color) corals was intended.  Whatever it is, I hope this story helps any future cave dwellers when they find themselves in a pinch and not sure what is attacking them.
3  General Category / Ranger / Re: DPS Parsed: on: December 03, 2010, 12:05:47 pm
I parsed a shadow fight before the patch, lasted about 24 minutes and ranger came up to be 17k+ DPS with the 4.0 bow, hunter arrow II, T3 spell, Fleeting quiver, and trueshot activated from the beginning (29600 crits more or less).

Thanks for these updates Hunter, love the new war 4.0 graphics.

Did some parsing with the new proc update with the war, with 6 anger IVs in 2 4.0s and max sorcer charm, damage per second before the patch was 27k+change, DPS now is 22k+change, so 18% is still missing from before the update was applied, as opposed to 33%.  So we're slowly getting our dps back Smiley

Ranger bow damage is another thing that you may want to look into when you have the spare time, my ranger with 4.0 and the T3 spell Secrets' Ranger secret secrets (haste and +30% damage modifier) used to crit regularly (probably 3 out of 5) at around 14.8k max.   Now the max is at 12470 and I rarely crit at that amount, maybe 1 out of every 15-25 hits, huge variation.  Also went to plane of dragons to do testing with the secrets spell, with it off, max crit was 12470, and with it on, max crit is also 12470 so it seems that the +30% damage modifier part of the spell isn't working as intended.  I also noticed that the bow crit rate is slightly reduced.  I could go 4-8 hits without a crit regularly, and 10-15 hits without a crit occasionally.

As for pure melee damage (non aug), I'm sure you've already read that dps is reduced for melee across the board.  I don't have the exact numbers, but I vaguely remember seeing ranger 4.0 swords critting over 3k and monk 4.0s critting near 4k (correct me if I'm wrong anyone else) with the mossy V aug.

I'm not saying these are indeed errors, just bringing them to your attention in case they weren't intentional changes.

All I want for Christmas this year is for you to make the war 4.0s have 1.0 or executioner's axe graphics.

And 2 UCs.

Sincerely

I vote the 1.0s graphics for war 4.0, or executioner's axe graphics.

First thing I noticed after logging in today is that my paladins' heals went from 82k to 80.8k (4.0s with max oracle).

Then it was my ranger critting for 11.3k max when the average crit was around 14.8k a few days ago.

Any idea if this is intended or just a temporary side effect due to source code update?
