What if the buff was randomized for everyone but the caster, and potentially his group?

For example, the owner of the mask (and potentially his group)will always receive the maximum effect of the xp buff. For everyone else that the buff lands on, they receive a random do buff, something between 100% - the maximum effect, assuming the mask is above the 100%xp threshold.

Anything under 100% could be randomized between 1% - the max buff for simplicity, or simply make it so that anything under 100% is self and/or group only. Once you reach 100% the mask is then mgb-able with anyone outside of your 6man group receiving a random amount of xp through the buff.

That would certainly slow down the xp gained for anyone that does not have the mask for themselves, but still leave the owner of the mask with the full benefit, it would even slow down people that box multiple groups as they'd have to decide who they want to recieve the full effect of the buff, the others would still gain an xp buff, but it would be random so there's a chance that they only recieve an 238% buff instead of an 830% buff.  While here's also the chance that they're lucky and recieve the full 830% still.

Not sure how feasible that would be from a coding standpoint, but it's another option that might be accepted by a larger majority or players (hopefully)?  Sent from my phone, will proof read and edit typos later Smiley

I concur. I'm semi-familiar with how much work goes into this sort of project, albeit not on this large of a scale, and its so much more than a lot of people realize.  Your work here allows me to play something that I actually enjoy with my spare time, which is hard to come by these days, so I cannot extend my appreciation to you guys enough.

Seriously, thank you both; and thank you to everyone else that allows the eqemu community to continue on!

I must say Hunter, I'm quite impressed that even with all that's going on and the limited power, you're still able to find/make the time to reply to e-mail and keep up/check in with the server.

You do a great job running things here. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you, we really appreciate all of your hard work

That is certainly the idea Smiley, but I was more-so referring to a sub-category on the forums dedicated to MQ2.  It might not make sense if there aren't many people posting MQ2 questions on the forums already. I thought I'd bring up the idea though, just in case there were some out there that wished there were a dedicated area of the forums for MQ2 questions/suggestions etc.

Anyway thanks for the link to the post, I'll go over it when I get some time today and see if there's anything that I can add that others may find beneficial.

5  General Category / Suggestions / MQ2 section on the ezforums on: November 11, 2013, 10:43:39 am
I did a brief search for this to see if it were posted in the past, but I hadn't found anything.  I apologize if this has been brought up before.

I've seen quite a few general questions being asked in OOC lately about MQ2, and how to do specific things with MQ2.  I know there's a good bit of external sources for MQ2 information, but sometimes it can still be tough to find exactly what you're looking for, or if you do find it, it can still sometimes be tough to fully understand how it works.

Would anyone find use in having an MQ2 section on our boards?  I know there are few bits that I could post that others might find useful, but even more so I would be more than happy to help answer some of the mq2 questions that some people have

the torrent file is good, it downloaded and extracted just fine.  The issue is when I click to open the login server, I get this error

the instruction at 0x03a30a0e refrenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read

I'm about 95% sure this is the exact issue I had as well... I don't remember the specifics but I know that for some reason using windows itself to unzip the torrent file (the .rar) was not quite getting everything that it needed, resulting in a dll error. By installing 7zip, and using that to extract the underfoot torrent, the game had no problems at all loading up.

7zip is completely free and easy to use if you're not familiar (http://www.7-zip.org). After installing 7zip when you right click on the uf torrent, you'll see an additional option for 7zip which you can then use to extract the files from the torrent rather than having to use the built in windows extractor.  I suggest giving it a shot, it's a small file, and a quick install, so if you have a few extra minutes, there's not much to lose Smiley.

If you're still having a problem with your underfoot torrent, are you attempting to extract the files using the built in windows tool?

If yes, try to download 7zip (its free) and use that to extract the underfoot files.  I had a very similar issue in the past with my underfoot torrent, and simply using 7zip over the built in windows tool solved the problem.
