Hello all,

I'm new to Everquest. I was playing EQ2 for a long time, but I got bored with it. I knew about EQEmulator and was able to connect to the server the other day. I bought EQ off of Steam like the emu website suggested.

Anyway... I can't do OOC messages or any of that? It says I'm not allowed to?

How do I become allowed to do such things?

Also - would someone possibly have the time to show me around and such in-game? I found it lacks a beginners tutorial, which is something I feel I need. Like I said, I'm new to this and am anxious to play.

So far I've been playing on my Macbook under Crossover Games and it's been working like a charm, about to load it on my main computer and I would love to get on tonight.

Anyway, I would really like it if someone could help me out and help me get started and such.

Thanks so much!

Mitchell

And no, not trying to be a smartass, there is just a lot of good results from that search.

Glad to have you.
First off, lemme point you to here >> http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=8.0
Second go here >> http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=1943.msg26343#msg26343 which links you to here (an excellent guide by the way) >>http://ezserver.online/forums/index.php?topic=1943.msg26343#msg26343
And you cant talk ooc unless level 10 or above, supposed to deter the riff raff from spamming..works unless they are persistent.

Okay. That answers it. I am a bit frustrated, when I logged in I didn't find any tutorial zone like EQ2 has.

EQ also has that, but was skipped. The guides though should put you faster on track than the tut zone.

Yeah... buying EQ was a waste of money in my opinion... the server seems great but there is no tutorial...

Just got WoW and a subscription to it, going to try it out for a while, and see how it compares to EQ/EQ2.

If you are giving up on eq because there is no tutorial then you should quit now. You will not enjoy eq at all if something that trivial can detour you from playing.

Funny my fondest memories of EQ were being thrown into a world where I knew nothing and everything was a mystery.

I started just after Kunark. My tutorial was, you have been slain by a rat...loading please wait. From there I was popped to the paly guild in North Kaladim. It took me about an hour to find my way outside again.

I remember meeting Corflunk for the first time at level 6 and later Dorn B'Dinn. A tutorial will not prepare you for these things anyway.

The emu caters to those who have a history with eq. If you are that perplexed about it not having a hold your hand walk through perhaps rather than quitting outright you should give google a shot. The game has a deep history and a lot of sites/content caters to people who are just starting out with the game( class breakdowns, how to navigate the user interface , etc). While this server has content not covered by that information, you can find guides and assistance for that here on these forums. (where to level up, how to do epics, where to find gear, etc)

Thank you everyone.

I will continue to try EZ Server again. I did play on another server briefly last night that did have a tutorial, and I understand it now.

Thank you all for your patience, and I will see you in-game very soon.
