Old post I know, but just thought I'd share a few comments.
While all your remarks are mostly true, by the time you reach the lvl 50 ring it's just too much for the content to get back to 70, you could basicly just wear the ring get a DS and mass pull anything and be done in a matter of mins.
The idea behind this was balance, and personally I think it's done rather nicely. In your trip to get to the lvl 50 ring, unless you just left every corpse rot, you're prolly rolling in money. Take a few mins, and work on your tradeskills to get into the Crafters guild (ok maybe longer, it took me a total of 2 hours to get into the crafters guild and remake the items for the RoA chain), the full set of the basic armor there (which is like ~80k) together is just as strong as the lvl 8-9 ring, possible even better since one of the big part about the RoA ring early on is the regen, which you end up with like 25 regen on the crafted armor. Not to mention a HUGE jump in ac compared to the ring.
Again just my 2 cents.
