Sometimes I make new characters to test stuff, but it is time consuming to rearrange all my windows, transparencies, etc.

I edited my defaults.ini file in my EQ folder so that I don't have to setup the UI for new characters in the future.

What I did to that defaults.ini was delete all the text inside of it, then copy/paste from UI_Hunter_EZ (Linux) x4 Exp.ini into the defaults.ini so now when I make a new character seems the only thing that I have to adjust now is the MQ2 window, and the show tips checkbox that comes up.

Not sure if this was mentioned by another guide but figured I'd throw it out there.

I use this utility to copy INIs. It's faster than manually copy and pasting my melee or caster's UI to a new character, or when rearranging/adding to my UI.
