Awhile back I was asking if anyone had an idea how to remove these...no one seemed to remember anything about how to remove them...ran across this old post if anyone (other than me) needed to know:

If you are lagging from zone 'particle effects' .. you can remove the file 'oldcommons_EnvironmentEmitters.txt'   ... remove it and place it in a backup folder Smiley

I didn't see anything that was too crazy in the file though.. like in T7 there is that fucking fog shit.. if you remove the emitters file it gets rid of all that shit.. and no more lag from the foggy wall of death..

remove the EnvironmentEmitter.txt for whatever zone you don't want them in...I remember this being ESPECIALLY helpful in t7 and t9.....may help to put this on a sticky or maybe on one of the wikis...or even better on the Optimization Guide even!  So glad I stumbled across this again!

Can you actually stop it from raining in a zone?  The rain/thunder/lighting is like one of my biggest pet peeves ever with EQ.

"When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything — you can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." R.A. Heinlein
