I had the Idea of adding a paladin epic shield for 3.0.
Hunter could do it like he did the RNG 3.0 bow. Just hand in another sword. Consider this.

A. give your 2.5 and book. Saying you want a two hander.
B. Give your 2.5 and book. Saying you want a one hander.

Then you can just give the vendor another sword to change into a shield.
