If I recall correctly, the buff duration effect does work on guardians but a while back there was debate about how much duration focus would be allowed. This debate centered on extending warrior's stonewall to the point where they could keep it on full time. Since then things have changed, and since this is no longer an issue perhaps some retuning is in order. I would love to bring my shammy back into the game. But buff duration alone will not do it. Perhaps a better heal spell, bringing back their DoT spell from t3-4 (this is way less dps than present toons are doing), and a significant attack debuff. The debuff should be one that no mobs are immune to that results in a reduction of the mob's DPS by perhaps 5-10%. I think that would bring shamans back into play in all tiers.

I don't think we have any history of seeing people banned for honest mistakes, though there may be instances where people claim such. Hunter requires evidence before banning people. I wouldn't worry if I were you, as long as you are decent to people and do not create a pattern of profitable 'mistakes.'

It sure will be a relief to see the source of the economic issues of this server get fixed. I have been away for a little over a year and on return, I still had my plat from way back when, about 2m total. When I saw what was up with the new augs, I burned through all of that and have been spending all of my playtime farming gems, boss tokens and essences in order to get aug'd up before going on to T5. If the plat duping woes can be fixed, etc it sure would be nice to see some relief to prices on aug components from the vendor. I think the augs are a long time in coming in light of the extreme hp of high end bosses. And I don't mind farming plat to pay players for their farming endeavors, especially when I can come by it through gems that I get along the way to boss tokens for essences, etc. But having the most costly components come from a vendor means more plat farming for the honest majority, and no penalty to the plat dupers.

Seems like it should be possible to update a persistent backup file on a second machine with only the information that has changed in each 24h period on the server. The second machine would just make a copy of the persistent backup file each day and save it. Save 7d or so in a row, and each week for a few weeks with autodeletion of files that are too old to be worth saving. This way, MySQL is only getting polled for each day's changes, and the server offloads the work (and storage) to the second machine. Not sure if a second machine would want to be onsite as I have no idea how much data is updated each 24h period, but if its doable, this could maybe get backups offsite in case of fire or some such.

I think a cleric epic 4 clicky Panoply of Vie with 35% absorb until 400k or so absorbed would be a good way to start. Afterall, end game bosses are hitting very hard and fast. When SW drops, this vie spell would be significant, but still spent in less than 10-20 seconds. They need their T3-4 spells changed in cost and casting time so they will actually get used at all. I favor a very short recast and casting time if mana costs will be as high as 20k+. Personally I think that is still silly high cost, because even if they were spammable short cast, a 10k cost would be prohibitive enough to prevent firing it as fast as possible with a macro. Additionally, turning down the combat effects bonus the paladins get would introduce the possibility that their heals might not land fast enough, making a cleric a stable healer that can be counted on.

IMO, the classes who can only single wield their epics should get a shield for their 3.5, and the 4.0 can still be mainhand. Preferably with different useful clickie on each. I wouldnt worry in the slightest about single wielding classes outweighing power of the dual wielding classes since they would need an amazing boost to put them on par anyway.
As for PAL/Sk a shield for 3.5 and 1hs 4.0 for mainhand would be totally reasonable.

At one point we had to hand in LDON tokens to an npc one at a time for credit, then Secrets wrote a script where you just hail the NPC and click a say link and your tokens just vanished and LDON credit appeared. I bet a similar thing could be done with red stones, just click a different link for cyan, blue or purple stones and it takes away the red, orange, yellow and green stones you have and returns an equivalent number of combined stones.
Just a thought.

The number of hours a player spends in T3 is huge, as we all know. I think livening it up with mini-bosses would be an excellent way to go. Perhaps randomly spawning a mini on the death of any avatar. Maybe the mini could be 30% tougher than a regular avatar and drop a cyan, with possibility for war level jewelery from PoD, or small possibility for a T3 spell drop.
Also, the drops could be increased for mobs that require special tactics, like Earth, Storms, Hell and maybe even Valor. Maybe just a 50% incrase in drops by those mobs since they are enough of a hassle that people just avoid them.

If you have issues with spell effects and such turning themselves back on, etc, you can get things the way you want them, then flag the eqclient.ini file as read only. (Right click, select properties, check the read only box) Then a new instance of EQ being logged in will get the same spell effects, framerate setting and clip plane, etc. and changes made in one client won't affect the other clients that log in after that.
As someone else said there are also char specific ini files, 2 per toon, which contain the name of that toon. Those can be used to clone settings (like spellsets, hotkeys and window positions, etc) onto another char by changing name within the filename. For example, I have one ranger named "rangerone" all set up, and now will box a new ranger named "rangertwo". I want everything the same as my first ranger, so I copy rangerone's ini files to another location, change the part of the filename that is rangerone to say rangertwo instead. Then I copy the 2 inis back into the EQ dir.

I'm no expert on the mechanics of it, but maybe crits isnt the way to go on this charm if it isn't effective in raising total DPS by a huge percentage btt it is maxxed out at 41 or 50.
And I don't think it is intended as a complaint thread, but rather a measure of how its going on this charm.
Personally, I think the brawlers really should double melee DPS at rank 50 because the classes that need it are really that far behind. Maybe if we can get enough real parse info on the various melee classes, say 10 mins each class with and without charm, it can be shown where we are really at.

General Category / Suggestions / T3 variety of drops in hohonora
|
on: May 13, 2010, 11:12:06 pm

Hunter, I wonder if you would consider altering the way stones drop in hohonora? Mobs that are easier (heaven, hate, skies mobs) drop the same as horrid hard ones (avatars of hell are one) and moderate ones with really annoying AE (Earth, Storms).
IMO the hard ones like Avatars of hell should be dropping at least double the easier ones, and moderate ones someplace in between.
This way, there would be a reason to venture out into the zone a bit, and work on the tactics needed to kill those mobs.
(Any overall increase in stone drops would also be extremely well recieved hehe.)
Thanks for listening
