It's been a while since I have been on this forum or the server, but I had a great time while I played here. I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Hunter who contributed so much to this community. My condolences to his family and friends.

A lot of good points in here.

My friends and I have between us have played a ton of MMOs and have often discussed what made original EQ such a good game. A couple of my thoughts:

XP Death - This added risk of loss to the game and therefore enhanced the sense of achievement. It also made players become more adept at the game because you couldn't progress if you were not knowledgable about your class/game.

Necessity of grouping -  Many classes could solo but you really had to do some grouping to get good gear and get to the end game. This is not the case in WoW and other MMOs and because of that you have selfish people who are unable to play the game and interract with other people.

Lack of direction - While this could be frustrating to people now, not having every step of the way plotted out for you forced you to discover things on your own and was more imersive.  Even noob zones often had a high level creature wandering around that could stomp you. As another poster mentioned the lack of information contributed to people having to play the game and talk to other people instead of just reading up online.

I think WoW is an extremely polished game in the sense it's programmed well and has a lot of detail to facilitate ease of use. However too much time has been spent dumbing the game and the player base down.

The difficulty of travel was another thing I enjoyed about EQ1. Traveling really felt like taking a journey and the world wasn't so easily accessible as a bell click to get anywhere like in EQ2.

5  General Category / General Discussion / Re: RoA Click on: November 11, 2010, 08:55:49 am
      He has lvl 50 tho so the rune could be just taking all of its damage at one time. I know my roa 100 stays on there until the damage is absorbed.  Grin

To further clarify. If you have a rune that absorbs 1k and get hit and see 300 damage pop up it means you got hit for 1300 but 1k got absorbed.

If you really think that your rune is falling off regardless of the amount of damage you take click it and sit down infront of some low level KoS creature. I'm pretty sure you will just see absorption messages with no damage taken.

@Daynne

Cleric healing is pretty essential once you get to some of the harder progression. I have a Druid with a decent Oracle's charm and he makes things a little easier with 3.0 regen. He's also great for RoA but his direct healing doesn't compare to my Cleric. Further Druid's can regen everyone but they don't really have group healing and the regen doesn't cure effects like a Cleric's group heal will.

For your additional dps I would suggest a Ranger or a Paladin. I like my Rogue but he's pretty high maintenance for dps. Rangers are easy mode and Paladins are decent dps with some extra healing. Another Warrior could be good for DPS but more of the same class takes longer to gear and you could have agro issues.

@korenogamer

Palies are great and I would keep them. I would probably replace another class that doesn't have to be in the group to be beneficial with a cleric.  Palies do a lot of healing but just relying on procs means you could get frustrated a lot during long fights because of wiping on a bad round and a long period without a  proc.

Cleric hands down. You will probably want to add a DPS class in the mix though if possible.

Are you trying to say you won your money you put in to the bot back plus the the original jackpot (8.2k) and still only had the 791k you had before coming to the bot?
9  General Category / Rogue / Re: Rogue Epic 3.0 click worthless on: October 22, 2010, 03:53:26 pm
I love my rogue,but is it just me or is the 3.0 click worthless? I mean to use daggerfall you must stop attacking,hide,sneak then hope next backstab lands. This is great for an opening but during a fight its kinda a pain. My crits are almost as big as what daggerfall does.

To use daggerfall you do have to stop attacking and hide. I can't remember if sneaking is actually necessary but I believe it's not. If you miss something with daggerfall on its most likely a range issue.

Anyway, the 3.0 click is awesome because it gives you daggerfall without having to do those things and the fact that the cooldown on the weapon is much shorter than the daggerfall ability. Further the cooldowns on the weapon and the ability are seperate so you can use one then the other.

The actual downfalls of the rogue classes's dps are the low non backstab damage, the actual base backstab damage of the weapon and the high interaction to dps ratio as compared to rangers.

Guess what, no one gives a fuck what you think. I try to have a little more couth he server.

You sure about that bro?

Not sure why you butchered my text in your quote, but still damn sure. Hunter and Basher make the rules, you do not. It's acting in accordance with their rules that will determine if you get banned. You can make suggestions for changes but your opinion of what the rules should be is not the criteria for playing on the server.

This is a subject for me that causes a lot of irritation. I hate seeing people try to rationalize ninja looting, or even worse irrationally try to claim free for all loot rights on other people's stuff.

Thyl, not trying to give you a hard time but you lock your house up because of immoral people.  No different in game unfortunately.

I most certainly do. But I still wouldn't say that someone who got robbed is the person that needs to be "fixed".
12  General Category / Updates / Re: Ninja Looting on: October 17, 2010, 04:41:50 pm
Easy fix with ninja looting... if you need to get a toon there loot lock it with someone until the toon that needs the loot is there. If ifs something you cant loot or cant sell loot is and destory it Problem solved.... Fix yourself before you cry to Hunter

So some people ignore obvious morality, and everyone else should "fix" themsleves?
13  General Category / Updates / Re: Ninja Looting on: October 16, 2010, 10:05:49 am
I think the 2.5 min timer is fine after that it is free for all.  If you need it so bad and you killed it than loot it.

Guess what, no one gives a fuck what you think. I try to have a little more couth on the forums but I can't stand stupid shit like this. Aside from being a rule set by the guy who runs the server it's is just common decency to not take shit that isn't yours.

If you need something learn to kill things yourself, ask other people if you can loot, or else get the fuck off the server.
