I've reduced the duration of fear that the bosses cast from 0.3 minutes to 0.1 minutes, effective after reboot. Should still be enough to keep players on their toes.

Might migrate shout kills to important bosses like Epic Bosses, etc.

Still planning to use Charms, cause I think its funny. Lowered the duration on that as well for now.

No new spell files yet.

Fear and charm are very powerful effects on a server based on small encounters. Fear means that an encounter that would normally need one group needs two or more similarly geared groups. Charm is even worse because the add wont be noticed immidiately and with the high procs can kill healers before there is time to react. It is fun to watch but a change like this isnt fun for the players.  It just adds frustration and makes people have to carry bigger groups to get things done.

If lower tier bosses have to be made harder then so be it, but i would welcome almost anything over fear and charm. There is a reason these effects are hardly used.

Still remember My first charming event on EZ. Group of Real life freinds started up with a small group of 4. Me the warrior, and the 3 friends playing a cleric, a mage and a necro. We Had made it up to Dulac and thinking we all bad and stuff and we decide letrs try a boat. But hmmm what about this dude at the end of the dock? eh, no biggy lets bumm rush him.

Next thing i know i think my wirless keybaord has #$%! the bed, im all over the screen, and my comrads are dropping like flys!?!?!? Less then a min later everybodys dead and im standing there then i die. they look at me and say "You just Killed us!" We all laughed our butts off and decided we'd stay away from him heheh.

Thanks Hunter for the reduction in the fear timer...

I am surviving 4 out of 6 now...

But that root and fear combo is bad, and really has to do with luck more than anything...

If I get feared, run away, then when fear wears off, Shadow will come to warrior like a bat outta hell, if he shoots off the root just at the right time,
rest of group is stuck at original location, and tank is off by himself getting his butt smacked. it's likely a wipe, he'll come back and kill other member just out of range of pally...

So now this has become a luck encounter

If you want to stop AFK farming, couldn't you spawn a non targetable add and have a group member have to say name of mob, or a graphic comes up with letters and have to enter code in a predertermined amount of time, if not an AE fear goes off, DD, or something bad?

It is fun to watch but a change like this isnt fun for the players.  It just adds frustration and makes people have to carry bigger groups to get things done.

I am a perfect example of this. Although I have played WoW, I believe wholeheartedly in having to invest a lot of time into a game to be good at it. That said, I've played on this server for about two years now. In recent months, I have had to box 6 characters just to handle T1/T2 myself. A week ago or so I finally finished flagging all my toons for T3. I finally have the dps for avatars Cheesy After drooling over the UC for the past year, I attacked Shadow for the first time last Wednesday and killed him! My tank got knocked unconscious once but no one died. So I thought to myself, I can work with this. I can see the UC at the end of the tunnel. I was so excited that I can now farm Shadow!

Now the rug gets pulled out from under me lol. It feels like I've been working on a 100-page document, and the power goes out and I lose all my work. Keep players on their toes? I was on my toes the whole fight lol, far from afk.

Anyhow, I plan to try Shadow again tonight after his fear was reduced. These are just my thoughts on the matter; I hope not to offend anyone. I'm just a fan of linear progression. If I can do something one day, I should be able to do it the next. Otherwise, it is indeed disheartening.

Thanks.

Ryndon, That's my exact story too lol. I love the server, Just don't understand these changes. After a lil over 2 years I finally broke into t3, edge of my seat fights, not afk at all.
Finally broke down and leveled an enchanter to get into crafters guild so i can make use of all these essenses I have stored up haha. Hope that will help get me back in the game.
Just seems like I have to backpedal now to get back to where I was. It'll all work out i'm sure, Always does. Just throwin out my 2 cents Smiley

I didn't realize that fear and root off the same mob would have been such a problem, but now that I think of it, I can picture the raid all rooted in place while main tank runs away, if that is what happens I guess.

Anyways, not many mobs use fear (yet). Just doing it on special and/or hard bosses.

I'll see about removing root from Shadow.

After the aug proc changes, Paladins should actually be procing more now so that should help out too.

I removed Root from the Fearing bosses such as H1-N1, MCP, and Shadow.

Effective after reboot.

I think the fear/Root or knockback/root combo is really funny/interesting, but the root should be very short duration. The idea is to screw with the player a bit, not make the boss a complete headache.
