I tried to register a new account/character thursday morning. I got the initial email saying welcome and it was going to be approved and reviewed and I haven't heard anything else since. When I try to log in it says it is still awaiting admin approval. Is this normal? Or do I need to resubmit a new account?

Are you talking about registering at http://www.eqemulator.org/ and creating a Login Server Accounts?
If so we can not help you here. If you mean you created a new forum account here then no idea.
