Server seems to be crashing every 5-10minutes after reboot.

Its chain crashes cause you all ninja log on after I rebooted it, taking up all the dynamic zones instead of waiting for the static zones to finish loading...

I know this will piss of some ninja loggers.  I've ninja logged on ocasion, but is there a way for you to lock the server till all zones are loaded?

Yes, there is a way of setting up time delayed scripts to lock/unlock the server. I'm going to have to figure it out this weekend so people stop taking up all the dynamic zones in the first 10 minutes of server coming up. This will also help save instances which use the dynamic zone. Seems I can only have up to 255 dynamic zones anyways, at 18 MB when they start up each, that takes up 4,590 MB RAM of our 32 GB RAM.

So yeah, I'll see what I can do this weekend.

Ok, not to endorse or seek out anything wrong or improper to do (especially on my first post and all) but what does NINJA LOGGING mean exactly?

Not new to eq, quit just after the shipbuilders moved in off my ol home of paineel, but i like the server content here. Though i have gotquite the odd look when i turn down the offer to PL my way to 70. Guess end contnent and actually doing some of the quests myself vs buying my way in is more enjoyable.

Actually turned on my AA to spend a litle more time in dulak to give my regards to the shippbuilders just that little bit more  Wink

When the server reboots, it takes time to load up all the zones and NPC's in them. If players try to log into the server right after it comes up, it can slow down and possibly unstableize the server. Each toon logging in forces extra work on the sever and if they are in a zone that has not yet been loaded, it forces the server to load it and the character instead of doing it's normal order and routine. If just 1 or 2 toons did this, it would not be a huge deal. But when you get 4-5 people trying to load up all their alts (3-9 toons each ) it puts a huge drag on the server that is so heavy, it can crash it, resulting in another reboot, or even shutting it down until next planned reboot or until Hunter manually turns it back on.
