OK, As the title says, I'm looking for what harware/software that people are USEING to box.

I was reading the Video card problem thread and it had some good info but not enough to answer my question. I have read over at The MMO boards but there were to many games to stsytem specs,  so i figures id ask here what people are ACTUALLY using that works.

I need a new machine as mine died a while ago and playing on a ol E-machine isnt cutting it past 3 toon's. So, What I'm looking for is what are your machines specs: procesor, Ram, video card and your OS. and How Many toons are you running. I see most of the guys pushing T5 are all running a solid 6 and there are some that are pushing 12 (2 groups).

And Thanks in advance for taking to the time to answer..  Wink Daddy wants to go shopping..

Part list permalink / Part price breakdown by merchant

CPU:  Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard:  ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ATX  LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory:  G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Hard Drive:  Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card:  XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB Video Card
Case:  Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply:  Corsair 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Monitor:  Asus VH236H 23.0" Monitor

Since I just built it, I just copied the generated table code. I use W7 x64 and have loaded up 10 with ease. I'm sure I can run plenty more and this system is really overkill. I'm prepared for this year's releases though! On another thought, if anyone wants to build a pc, I HIGHLY recommend pcpartspicker.com Smiley

Also, if you box a large amount and use multiple monitors to accomplish this like I do, I recommend going with a higher amount of VRAM to handle the multi-monitor setup. If you only use a single monitor, then VRAM isn't really as important.

I run a Phenom II 1100T with 8 gigs of 1600MHz ram, and a SSD. My video card sucks, it's only an 8800GT, but EQ can't benefit from any video card made in the last 7 years anyways.

Ok, with the statement about the video card, what is more importanat with running more instances, IE more toons with EQ. More HP ie proccesor, more ram, or a high end better video card?

Going with my current setup I can load up 2 groups and use about 12% of my processor and about 80% of my ram. Of course it spikes when I zone or when I am loading but my ram is by far my lacking.

My computer has issues when zoning on multiples as well.  Here's a pic with specs.
  • 50MHz, dual cycle clock with a 8 bit buffering - thing blows your mind on 3.1 start up.
  • Custom 32bit data and address bus with interchangeable 72 tor 32 pin SIMM.  Allowing me up to 4 gigabytes of memory to be directly addressed.  Talking straight 32 linear thinking!

A voodoo3 card really tightens it down on this machine as the polygon and sprites are unmatched when it comes to a VGA connection!

Gonna upgrade asap

It is because you have no mouse pad. .25c and you're all fixed up.

CPU and RAM. Around a gig (plus or minus) of RAM per toon. With CPU it is a little tricker - newer CPUs can handle more toons per core. With older processors - one char per core seems about right. So for example someone said they have Quad Core 2500K - this will run 8-10 chars, while my Q6600 Quad core runs 6 without too much trouble but running more would  be problematic.
