Another Bot Down!

Auctioneer bot suspended for 7 days for using a script to auto-undercut on 3-5 minute timer.

Automating gameplay, even auctioning, will result in suspension the first round and ban the next. Due to this being less damaging to the server, the bot alone was suspended and the associated accounts marked. Next offense = ALL associated accounts banned along with auctioneer. I am fine with how the auctioning system works, but scripted undercutting is considered botting.

If you aren't playing the game yourself, why bother?

Fair point, but isn't the auction system specifically designed to be done while afk?

Yes, it was intended to allow players to sell things without spending hours in EC shouting your wares. It is NOT intended to allow players to automatically, consistently undercut any player that approaches. I could've toyed with the system, bought up all the loot, and then zero'ed out the bot's plat value. I elected not to as it's not a large server impact.

I'm not familiar with how the whole bot things work but couldn't someone sense they were running a bot and list an item for dirt cheap as bazaar isn't that active then snag it up once they get undercut. If so lemme know next time so I can have a come up or 2. Grin
