Hello EZ server,

You may have aware of the spell range problem in mid-level heal spells, like druid's "xxx Renewal" and shaman's "xxx Salve". I wonder if any progress is being made to fix the range of these spells?

Sure these are only mid-level spells and some people can breeze through the levels so quickly that it doesn't matter, but for characters like mine who're just starting from scratch, this can be quite struggling trying to heal my dual boxed tank with a heal from 20 levels ago. I just want to know if I should expect a fix to arrive in near future, and I will really appreciate it if a fix is on the way.

Those are just mosh up of spells from a list long ago, half of those spells 30-55 on druid/cleric/shaman aint on live, and were never used. i doubt you will ever see a fix, just a removal of them in the future.

Might I also suggest making a cleric to heal your tank instead of a shaman. Once you get up in lvls your heal effectiveness will get less and less.

Hell, why not just have Hunter remove every class except for Wars and Clerics.

In everquest live, if you try to rely on a druid or shaman to heal your end game warrior you would come up lacking as well. Druid and shaman should not be considered end game main source of healing, they are utility characters, used for buffs and in shamans case, used for slow as well, (on live). The reason for no slow on emu servers is the lack of partial resists. Putting a 70% slow on the end game mobs would break the end game. You can't play a shaman or druid and expect to play the role of a cleric.

on live a druid could heal nearly as well as a cleric with their direct heals and are better healers than shamans since they have a direct group heal also in no way does a group lack on live with one of the 3 healers unless that person honestly does not know how to heal a shaman can go on for hours without a med break healing and slowing druids use their mana up slightly faster with lower % of heals on the tank where as a cleric can usually completely heal a tank in 1 cast with an exceptional the only situations where a cleric would need to be the primary healers is in raids and that would be the only case druids to casters in that situation and shamans to melee all 3 classes are good healers just druids/shamans can do other things besides heal and buff hence why the cleric will remain on top

but yeah on ez druids/shamans unfortunatly get blown out of the water in the healing department by clerics so id toss ur shaman in a box and only open it when you want their 3.0 buffs

From memory when I played with my own server setup a few years back, these spells are simple fixes, a few of them appear to have range = 0 which prevents them from being cast on anyone, simply modifying them to be range = 100 fixes the problem.

Fine. Here...

This fixes your spell range problem, as soon as Hunter dumps this:

Code:
UPDATE spells_new SET range = '100' WHERE name LIKE '%renewal%' AND classes6 <= '100';
UPDATE spells_new SET range = '100' WHERE name LIKE '%salve%' AND classes10 <= '100';

Here is also another fix custom tailored to the EZ spell file: This is Lay of Hands and SK's Harm touch AA's for SoD.

http://akkadius.pastebin.com/yc00GPcv

These are the only free ranges that I could find to insert the Paladin/SK AA abilities that LoH and HT were swapped over to via the SoD client. So the .SQL dump that I had written is tailored to only the EZ server's spell ranges. And they work and are tested on the EZ spell file.

http://akkadius.pastebin.com/M1uWEzkJ

While I am at it, this .sql fixxes every single Gatekeeper NPC from the LDON's to stop aggroing everyone since I experienced this helping some people on the server.

Note: If this doesn't work, its because you actually didn't use underscores naming the NPCs, simply change it around.

Code:
UPDATE npc_types SET npcspecialattks = 'ABH' WHERE name LIKE '%A_Gatekeeper%';

I just came back to this thread and suddenly I feel... I feel... honored to see actual code tweaking being worked on for this lowly complaint *teary eyes*

You guys should work on fixing enchanters first if this take you too much time! I'm a software development student and I can understand if it's not as easy as it seems to fix the spell range.

As for an update from me, I did changed to a warrior/cleric duo while keeping my 56 shaman for later when I feel like picking it up again, but war/clr is very boring...... I know it's common knowledge that you can't go far with any other duo different than this, but I don't look forward to go as far as potimea, just want something fun and different that is enough to survive in BoT. Besides I'm not a full-group boxer, so I expect to rely on other people from the low-end game anyway.

Thanks for all your inputs guys. I wouldn't thought the thread would get so much attention.

PS. Yes I have been using the "Focus of xxx" spells, so I've been using Focus of Healing and DoT on my shaman.
